Coronation Street's Gary Windass gets mistaken for Chesney

Appearing on Kevin and Liz Fletcher's Off Script podcast, the 38-year-old said he gets mistaken for Chesney Brown actor Sam Aston.
Referring to how Kelvin is still called 'Suggers' from his soap star days in Emmerdale, host Liz was intrigued to know what the public refer to Mikey as.
"It's Chesney, it's followed me around all these years. It's funny,' Mikey laughed.
"It's an in-joke at jobs" target="_blank">work that my name is Chesney.
"I guess people who dip in and out who watched it when Chesney was really young, and then tune in years later and see me, they think that Chesney grew up to be me.'
Mikey then went on to reveal how himself and Sam shared a dressing room at the show for 15 years.

However, Mikey said he "just goes along with it" when people call him the nickname – and even ask him how Chesney's late dog Schmeichel is.
Sam Aston, who played Chesney, first joined the soap in 2003, five years before Mikey.
Sam, 31, was crowned the winner of Dancing on Ice earlier this year, alongside his skating partner Molly Lanaghan.
Looking towards the future, Mickey said that he'd love to share the screen with Emmerdale rogue Cain Dingle when both soaps take part in a historic crossover episode next year.

'It's being kept top secret,' he said.
'It'll be people from both soaps mixing together for the first time ever.'
'Gary vs Cain [in the same scene] would be great – a Windass and a Dingle.'

Unexpected Emmerdale character confesses to murder in ITVX streaming release

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn't aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX. Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) has confessed to murdering her father Anthony in Emmerdale, believing the body in the lake belongs to him. Last Friday, Kyle (Huey Quinn) arrived outside the pub to tell Ruby, Caleb Miligan (William Ash), Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) that he had just seen divers pulling a body out of the lake, the same one the limo crash happened on. The group immediately assumed the body was that of Anthony Fox's, and that it wouldn't be long until their secret covering up his death was discovered. Cain, Chas, Caleb and Ruby spent the majority of tonight's episode trying to work out how the aftermath would unfold. They were all in agreement that once forensics complete their tests on Anthony's body, they would find DNA that belongs to one of the six people who kept his murder hidden from everyone. The conclusion was for Caleb and Ruby to go on the run, but something about this made Ruby feel uneasy. She didn't want Caleb throwing his life away in the village for her, but he was adamant that he did not have a life if Ruby wasn't in it. With the decision reached, Cain and Chas said their goodbyes as Ruby and Caleb prepared to go on the run for the rest of their lives. Just as Caleb disappeared though, it became apparent that Ruby absolutely wasn't going to go through with this idea. She disappeared out of the door and then made her way to the police station. British Soap Awards 2025 afterparty evacuated due to security alert

Stars from the four major UK soaps hit the red carpet on Saturday night for the return of the British Soap Awards – though the celebrations were interrupted early after a security threat at the afterparty. Following the main event at the Hackney Empire in London, which saw EastEnders come out on top with the most awards, actors and crew members headed next door to Hackney Town Hall to party the rest of the night away.
