Mohamed Salah worries Liverpool fans as he put up Ramadan decorations

Ammon02-03-2025
Ammon News - Mohamed Salah was told to "be careful" by Ibrahima Konate as the Liverpool star put up his Ramadan decorations in his home.
The Egyptian is in the midst of his annual observance and put up several decorations in his house, but it had one of his team-mates worried. Salah was pictured standing on his sofa as he put banners on the wall, but Konate was fearing an unlikely slip and an injury.
As a result he joked on social media that the Liverpool frontman should tread with caution as his absence would have a serious impact on the team's ambitions in the final months of the season.
Last weekend Salah scored once again, this time at Manchester City as the Reds further extended their lead at the top of the Premier League. They now sit 13 points clear of Arsenal but are also looking to land the Champions League and the Carabao Cup. The Mirror

Adli becomes latest player to leave Leverkusen after joining Bournemouth

Ammon News - Morocco winger Amine Adli became the latest player to leave Bayer Leverkusen after completing a move to Bournemouth on Thursday. Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Lukas Hradecky have also left this summer, from the team that went undefeated in domestic competitions in winning the Bundesliga and German Cup in the 2023-24 campaign but didn't capture a trophy last season. According to a BBC report, the transfer fee was 29 million euros ($33.8 million). The 25-year-old Adli was often used as an impact substitute in the league for Leverkusen, where he scored 23 goals in 143 competitive games, but typically started cup games. Adli joined Bournemouth on a deal until 2028 and said of his four-year spell at Leverkusen: 'The special time in this club has shaped me as an athlete and as a person. I will never forget them.'

Champions Bayern Munich in pole position for Bundesliga start despite short pre-season

Ammon News - Champions Bayern Munich kick off the new Bundesliga season against visitors RB Leipzig on Friday, knowing they are the team to beat once more even though they had a shortened pre-season following the Club World Cup in the United States. Having won the league title 12 times in the last 13 years, the Bavarians have spent more than any other club in the close season to bring in Luis Diaz from Liverpool for a reported 70 million euros ($81.60 million) their third highest transfer ever as well as Germany internationals Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof to boost the quality of their squad. However, they also had a shortened break and pre-season preparation, along with fellow Club World Cup competitors Borussia Dortmund, due to the tournament in the United States stretching well into July. Bayern still earned their first trophy of the season last week, beating German Cup winners VfB Stuttgart 2-1 in the German Supercup on Saturday, despite some players cramping. "The cramping, with a short pre-season it is normal, especially in a final," Bayern coach Vincent Kompany told a press conference on Thursday. "But we are mentally here. The hunger is here. I don't want to talk about any negative impact of the Club World Cup. We want to take another step to get better. The motivation is not less than last year." "The bar has to be higher," Kompany said. "As regards the favourites tag, yes, we are the champions so that's ok, but that won't win us the game tomorrow. For me what is important is to have a hunger of a team that has not won anything and wants to win something for the first time." Bayer Leverkusen are undergoing a full overhaul following the departure of coach Xabi Alonso, who led them to the domestic league and Cup double in 2024, and star player Florian Wirtz, along with half a dozen other key players. With playmaker Granit Xhaka also gone, new coach Erik ten Haag has his work cut out as he succeeds Alonso on the Leverkusen bench, and is unlikely to instantly mount a serious title challenge. They start their league campaign on Saturday against visiting Hoffenheim. Bayern's most likely title rivals look to be Dortmund, who travel to St Pauli on Saturday. Coach Niko Kovac, who took over midway through last season, steadied the ship and led them to a Champions League qualifying spot. He has since brought in Jobe Bellingham and Yan Couto from the English leagues. Hamburg SV will mark their return to top flight after seven years in the second division with a season opener at Borussia Moenchengladbach, having won promotion along with Cologne last season.

Frank Caprio: 'Nicest judge in the world' dies at 88

Ammon News - Frank Caprio, a retired municipal judge in Rhode Island who found online fame as a caring jurist and host of ' Caught in Providence,' has died. He was 88. His official social media accounts said Wednesday that he 'passed away peacefully' after 'a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.' Caprio billed his courtroom as a place 'where people and cases are met with kindness and compassion.' He was known for dismissing tickets or showing kindness even when he handed out justice. Last week, Caprio posted a short video on Facebook about how he had 'a setback,' was back in the hospital and was asking that people 'remember me in your prayers.' Caprio's show was filmed in his courtroom and featured his folksy humor and compassion. Clips from the show have had more than 1 billion views on social media. During his time on the bench, Caprio developed a persona at odds with many TV judges — more sympathetic and less confrontational and judgmental. In his bite-sized segments on YouTube, Caprio is often seen empathizing with those in his courtroom. Many of the infractions are also relatively minor, from failing to use a turn signal to a citation for a loud party. Caprio also used his fame to address issues like unequal access to the judicial system. 'The phrase, 'With liberty and justice for all' represents the idea that justice should be accessible to everyone. However it is not,' Caprio said in one video. 'Almost 90% of low-income Americans are forced to battle civil issues like health care, unjust evictions, veterans benefits and, yes, even traffic violations, alone.' Caprio's upbeat take on the job of a judge drew him millions of views. His most popular videos have been those where he calls children to the bench to help pass judgment on their parents. One shows him listening sympathetically to a woman whose son was killed and then dismissing her tickets and fines of $400. AP
