Bomb squad called after magnet fisher hooks 'device'
The object was found by a person magnet fishing - which involves dangling a magnet attached to a rope into water to locate metallic finds - in the River Bure off Station Road in Hoveton, near Wroxham, on the Norfolk Broads, at about 13:40 BST on Saturday.
Norfolk Police placed a 100m (340ft) cordon at the scene and closed the road.
The cordon was lifted at about 16:50 after the Army's explosive ordnance disposal team from Colchester assessed the object and established it was not an unexploded ordnance device, police said.

Man, 26, arrested on suspicion of murder after fatal stabbing in Wembley
A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a fatal stabbing in Wembley. Officers were called to reports of a stabbing in Monks Park, Wembley, just after 6pm on Tuesday. Paramedics from London Ambulance Service also attended and treated a 38-year-old man for stab wounds. Despite their efforts, the man sadly died at the scene. His family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers. In the early hours of Wednesday, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. A 31-year-old woman was arrested at the scene for conspiracy to murder and also remains in police custody. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller who is leading this investigation said: "Our thoughts remain with the victim's family and friends at this hugely difficult time. 'We have made quick progress overnight and made two arrests, both these people remain in police custody. However, detectives are still working at pace to understand the circumstances around this sad event. 'We are urging anyone with information to get in touch and residents can continue to expect an increase in the number of officers in the local area as we continue our investigations. "Additionally, we ask all residents in the area to look at any doorbell or camera footage around Monks Park and to make contact if there is anything that they feel would assist police." Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or online, quoting CAD6174/19AUG. 'Dangerous' stalker told ex he would 'break every bone in her body' and take her child
A stalker who threatened to take his ex's child and "stamp" on them, has appeared in court. Phillip Teasdale, 34, ignored a restraining order by continually leaving threatening messages for his former partner - who was left so terrified she moved out of her Stockton home. Teasdale left a voicemail for his victim which read: "Your house is getting lit off today and your car and you." After turning up at his ex-girlfriend's house, he left another voicemail saying: "I will stamp all over your head tomorrow when I turn up at your house. I will take ***** and I will boot you all over." Teesside Crown Court has heard that a restraining order was in place to protect the victim, after Teasdale was convicted of sending her threatening communications in 2023. He broke the order last year, when police found him hiding upstairs in his former partner's home. Snake turns up 22 years after going AWOL The two were initially in a happy relationship, which the victim said was "amazing" at the beginning. But after they split up, Teasdale refused to accept the court order against him. On May 5 he turned up at the woman's home, as she hid inside with her child. He shouted through the letterbox and peered through windows before going to the back of her house. The victim called the police but Teasdale fled when he heard sirens nearby. Over the next 24 days, he left sinister voicemails threatening to harm her and her family. On May 8, he ranted into her messaging bank: "You have two options - leave the area or get your kids took." A few days later his voicemail read: "Nice little status about me on Facebook there. I'm going to break every bone in your body." In other messages Teasdale said he was going "to cut" his victim's face and "stamp on" her child. When he left a voicemail saying that he knew she "had been going to the gym," the victim became scared he was watching her and she left her home. In a statement read out to the court on Tuesday, the victim said that she "felt let down by the system. He has shown no regard for the restraining order. I can't sit out in my back garden for fear he will turn up." Teasdale denied stalking his former partner, but was convicted by a jury, after standing trial. He admitted breaching the restraining order. He has previous convictions for robbery, aggravated vehicle-taking and harassing a different ex-partner. In mitigation, Tom Bennett told the court that the couple were still together in 2023, when Teasdale sent her threatening messages. The defence barrister said that his client suffers from PTSD, "and this does impact on how someone reacts in situations. That's not a defence to what he has done, but personal mitigation." But Judge Tom Mitchell told Teasdale: "The reality is that you have no regard for court orders or for the rule of law. There is little controlling you, other than imprisoning you. "I think that you are a dangerous man to your partners. I appreciate you may have some degree of PTSD but what you have been doing, you have been doing for a very long time. I don't think that mitigates much at all." Teasdale, of Hartington Road in Stockton, was jailed for four-years. He will serve two-thirds of his sentence before he is eligible to be released. "I have now set the bar at four-years," Judge Mitchell told him, "if you breach that restraining order again, you can expect sentences north of that." New evidence shows Travis Decker is the only suspect in his daughters' killings, sheriff's office says
As authorities continue their search for Travis Decker, the Washington state man accused of suffocating his three daughters to death, investigators now believe he is the only suspect in the crime based on evidence found at the gruesome scene. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office revealed in a social media post Tuesday that each victim, 5-year-old Olivia, 8-year-old Evelyn and 9-year-old Paityn, was found with multiple plastic bags over their heads. Two of them had two separate bags over their heads, while the third had three bags over her head, the post said. DNA samples obtained from the bags and cable ties found near their bodies matched the profile for Decker, the sheriff's office said. No other DNA was found on the bags or the cable ties, authorities added. 'The completion of this DNA analysis provides additional evidence that indicates Travis Decker is the only suspect involved in committing these homicides,' the post read. The revelation comes nearly three months after the girls were found dead near a campsite in the Cascades, a remote and picturesque region know for backcountry hiking and camping. The siblings had been reported missing by their mother days earlier when Decker failed to bring them home after what was supposed to be a three-hour visit mandated by a custody agreement. In the weeks since, local, state and federal officials have searched for Decker – an Army veteran skilled in wilderness survival – without knowing whether he is still alive. 'At this time, we do not have any evidence to suggest Travis Decker is either alive or deceased,' the sheriff's office reiterated Tuesday. Decker was charged with murdering the three girls not long after he picked them up from their mother for the custody visit on May 30. Drones, a swift water team, cadaver dogs and even GoPros have been used as several agencies work to find him. The search has been complicated by treacherous terrain, and the fact that Decker had a three-day head start. Decker's truck was found abandoned in the area of Rock Island Campground on June 2. His daughters' bodies were nearly 100 yards away down a small embankment, along with zip ties and plastic bags found strewn throughout the area, according to a police affidavit. Authorities also found a bloody fingerprint on the truck's tailgate, as well as Decker's dog. Decker leaving behind his truck likely means he is on foot, which slows down his mobility, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison told CNN last month. He also left equipment behind, meaning he is unprepared unless he stashed supplies out in the woods. The sheriff hoped more people flocking to the area surrounding where the girls were found for the busy summer season might help in the search. 'It may work in our favor now that we have that many people out there just saturating that part of the county with camping, hiking and other recreating,' Morrison said last month. The US Marshals Service is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to Decker's arrest. CNN's Alaa Elassar, Danya Gainor and Andy Rose contributed to this report.
