Honor might be planning something smaller for its next flagship lineup

Phone Arena23-05-2025

Honor Magic 7 Pro. | Image credit – PhoneArena The wave of flagship phones with smaller screens (well, smaller by Chinese flagship standards) is gaining momentum. We've already seen the Oppo Find X8s, vivo X200 Pro mini and OnePlus 13T join the party – and now it looks like Honor is getting ready to jump in with its upcoming Magic 8 series.According to a recent report, Honor's next flagship lineup – likely arriving in Q3 this year – will include three models: the Magic 8, Magic 8 Pro and Magic 8 mini. That last one is said to feature a 6.3-inch display, which is definitely more compact compared to the 6.58-inch screen on the regular model and the 6.7-inch panel on the Pro. Hence the "mini" label.

Now, for many, 6.3 inches doesn't exactly scream "small." Honestly, I wouldn't call it small, either. Phones like the iPhone 13 mini (5.4") or the Zenfone 10 (5.9") were true minis in my book – but those types of compact phones are basically extinct now.
Sure, Apple and Samsung still offer somewhat smaller models like the iPhone 16 with its 6.1-inch screen or the Galaxy S25 with a 6.2-inch display, but they don't market them as mini. So why do Chinese brands do it? Simple – their standard models are usually massive. When your sibling device has a 6.82-inch display like the OnePlus 13, a 6.3-inch screen starts to look "mini" in comparison, right? As for the specs, there is not a ton of info yet. But it is rumored that the Magic 8 mini will be powered by MediaTek's upcoming Dimensity 9500 chip. Meanwhile, the Magic 8 Pro is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which is set to arrive earlier this year than usual.
That early chip launch could also push Honor's timeline up. For reference, the Magic 7 and Magic 7 Pro were both announced in late October and launched in November. But since Qualcomm will reveal the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 in late September, the Magic 8 lineup could show up earlier than its predecessors.
And when it comes to cameras, the Magic 8 Pro might pack some serious hardware: a triple camera setup with a 50 MP main snapper, 50 MP ultra-wide and a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera. Sounds like it is shaping up to be quite the powerhouse.

New leak reveals unexpected details about Samsung's upcoming top-tier tablets

Samsung will have a very busy summer, but that has become tradition for the South Korean company, which remains committed to launching two flagship series each year. After introducing the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year, Samsung is now gearing up for another major launch, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Besides these two foldables, Samsung is also expected to refresh its flagship tablet series with at least two new models, Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Rumor has it that the tablets aren't ready for release yet and they're unlikely to hit shelves along with Samsung's new foldables, but that's no surprise considering that most of the company's high-end tablets were announced in fall. Unlike last year when Samsung launched a 'Plus' Galaxy Tab S10 version, this year the South Korean giant decided to limit the series to just two models: Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The former makes a comeback after one year of hiatus, while the latter continues the string of 'Ultra' tablets Samsung launched since 2022. The first information leaked about the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra indicates that both tablets will be equipped with Dimensity 9400 processors, MediaTek's flagship chipset. Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has a 11,200 mAh battery, just like the previous Ultra models | Image credit: PhoneArena New details about Samsung's flagship tablets reveal that at least one of them will have a bigger battery, which is unusual. Ever since Samsung launched the first Ultra tablet, the Galaxy Tab S8, it always included a 11,200 mAh battery. However, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra seems to feature a slightly larger battery. The folks at GalaxyClub found evidence that Samsung's next flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, will have a 11,700 - 12,000 mAh battery. The exact capacity will be announced by Samsung, but the rated capacity of Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is 11,374 mAh. In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra has a rated capacity of 10,880, although the advertised battery capacity of the tablet is 11,200 mAh. This will be the first time that Samsung upgrades the battery of its Ultra tablets. Even if that seems a minor improvement, it makes way for more improvements in future models.

Pixel Superfans invite hints Pixel 10 phones could launch earlier than their predecessors

Google unveiled the Pixel 9 series smartphones (except the Pixel 9a) last year in August, and if you expected the Pixel 10 lineup to follow the same launch timeframe, that might not be the case since the Pixel Superfans invite hints at an early launch of the Pixel 10 series. Google Pixel 9a The folks at Android Authority shared an invite sent by Google to the Pixel Superfans for a 1.5-hour Pixel Penthouse event in London on June 27, where "they will get hands on with pre-release Pixel devices and features." Google's Pixel Penthouse event invite for Pixel Superfans The invite doesn't divulge anything about these pre-release Pixel devices, but if we had to guess, these would be the Pixel 10 smartphones. Google says the Pixel Penthouse is "this year's exclusive pre-launch event," hinting at an earlier-than-expected launch of the Pixel 10 series, possibly by the end of July. Google confirmed that it would be released in Q2 2025, meaning before the end of June, so the launch of the Pixel 10 series sometime in July is very much possible. Source
