Kuwait Steps Up Deportations – 2,700 Expats Removed In One Month
KUWAIT CITY, May 28: The Deportation and Temporary Detention Affairs Department at the General Administration of Correctional Institutions in the Ministry of Interior deported 2,700 expatriates of various nationalities in April. This is part of the efforts of the department to deport expatriates against whom administrative or judicial deportation orders have been issued. A security source confirmed that the department is facilitating the departure of deportees at an accelerated pace.
The source reiterated that security campaigns are ongoing in all governorates to arrest those proven to have violated the Residency Law, the illegal workers, those working for third parties, and those outside the purview of the law. Moreover, the ministry announced in a press statement last week that 1,084 violators of the Residency Law were deported on May 11-18, after taking the necessary legal measures.
The ministry affirmed that it will pursue anyone who dares to violate the laws and regulations governing work and residency, stressing that accountability applies to both the employee and the employer. He said various sectors at the ministry continue to carry out security campaigns in a bid to apprehend violators of the Residency Law and illegal workers who are then referred to the Deportation Department, taking into account humanitarian considerations during their detention.

Two Commerce Ministry employees sentenced to 10 years for bribery, abuse of power
KUWAIT CITY, June 4: The Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Abdulwahab Al-Maili, sentenced two employees of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry—a supervisor and a transaction coordinator—to 10 years in prison each. In addition, they were fined 400,000 Kuwaiti dinars and dismissed from their positions. The court found them guilty of abusing their authority, accepting bribes to overlook commercial violations, and fabricating false violations. Meanwhile, the court exempted a resident from punishment after he confessed to involvement with the defendants. The Ministry of Interior had earlier announced the arrest of the two ministry employees and their accomplice on charges of exploiting their positions, accepting bribes to ignore commercial violations, and fabricating false ones. According to a press release by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, law enforcement received intelligence regarding individuals exploiting their roles to accept bribes. After securing legal approval, the suspects were caught red-handed receiving 50,000 Kuwaiti dinars out of an agreed total bribe of 200,000 dinars. The operation, conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is part of ongoing security efforts to combat corruption and enhance public safety. Authorities emphasized that the suspects have been referred to competent legal bodies for prosecution. Security officials stressed that the law applies equally to all, with no exceptions, and reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing anyone who threatens national security.

Article 8 passports to be delivered in 2 shifts this Eid holiday
KUWAIT CITY, June 2: The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Nationality and Travel Documents, announced that the delivery of Article 8 passports will take place in two daily shifts during the Eid Al-Adha holiday, starting next Saturday. According to a statement issued Tuesday by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, passport delivery will be carried out from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., based on times previously communicated to applicants. The move aims to streamline the passport collection process and enhance service quality, in accordance with ministry directives. The ministry emphasized the importance of booking appointments in advance through the unified government platform "Sahel," by selecting the service path: (Appointments → Ministry of Interior → General Department of Nationality and Travel Documents → Receiving Article 8 Passports). Applicants are also required to present their passport delivery receipt upon arrival. This initiative follows the Ministry of Interior's announcement at the end of May regarding the commencement of passport delivery to individuals whose Kuwaiti nationality was previously revoked under Article 8 of the Nationality Law. These individuals, having returned their passports to the ministry, are now being processed as Kuwaiti nationals.
