HGTV show 'Rehab Addict' to feature restoration of 1928 Detroit home
Home renovator Nicole Curtis is returning home to Michigan in her latest season of the HGTV series "Rehab Addict" to renovate a 1928 Detroit property.
The property is "one of the dirtiest abandoned homes she's ever seen," according to a Warner Bros. news release.
"She'll scope out the many original details, including subway bathroom tile, a built-in telephone stand and a laundry chute to the basement, before she and her team replace the dilapidated roof — the first step in restoring the home to its original glory," according to a Warner Bros. news release.
During this season, Curtis, a Lake Orion native, will also work on a 1980s house 1,500 miles away in Wyoming.
"Ripping out the features from a cheap flip, she will start to uncover all her beloved old house details, including original floors and plaster walls, and will put a breathtaking twist on the hideous exterior with custom narrow Victoria-era windows," according to the news release.

Curtis has rehabbed a number of old houses in Detroit, including the historic Ransom Gillis House, a landmark property in Brush Park whose 2015 restoration was documented by 'Rehab Addict.' The Gothic Revival-style house, located at 205 Alfred St., was originally built in 1876 and had been vacant since the late 1960s before its transformation 10 years ago. One of the condos in the home was listed for $2.5 million in the summer of 2024.

"Rehab Addict" began in 2010. The first episode of its ninth season will premier Tuesday, June 24, at 9 p.m. on HGTV. Each new episode will be available to stream the next day on HBO Max and Discovery+, where fans can stream previous seasons.

He was permitted to work a month after his visa expired in March 2023, and the work permit expired in March 2025. White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller posted to X on Sunday, "Suicidal migration must be fully reversed." With Superman flying into theaters this July, this movie is DC Studios' proving ground. A new report from The Wrap reveals the film's massive $225 million budget and what it'll take for James Gunn's DCU relaunch to survive its maiden flight. According to insiders, the break-even line hovers around $500 million globally, but for Warner Bros. Discovery, expectations soar much higher. One talent agent told The Wrap, 'While release dates are important, I don't think the challenge is Jurassic World: Rebirth or any other film. The challenge is almost entirely a question of if Superman resonates with today's audience. Did they successfully update an Eisenhower-era character so the 2025 Gen Z audience can identify with him?' It's a fair question. Superman may be iconic, but that doesn't guarantee modern relevance. The agent continued, 'The simple brand recognition of Superman will probably take them to or close to $500 million worldwide, but anything above that will be because the audience identifies with the title character.' Another source suggested $500 million could still result in a modest profit, but modest won't cut it for Warner Bros. Discovery. David Zaslav is betting the house on DC, Harry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings to pull the studio out of its financial rut. Superman needs to make closer to $700 million to hit that 'win' status in the eyes of the studio brass. And if it falls short? Things get murky. A studio insider confirmed: 'Outside of anything Batman-related, DC will most likely wait to react to how Superman performs before deciding on which superhero from their library to tackle next. Greenlighting Supergirl may seem risky, but it extends the new universe they are trying to establish and shows a commitment to the larger brand.' Still, Batman can't carry this universe on his cowl alone. The Batman: Part II remains in development, and The Brave and the Bold is creeping forward at a snail's pace. Rumors already hint at a World's Finest movie that would team Superman and Batman, which would be an undeniable crowd-pleaser that also echoes the trajectory of the DCEU post-Man of Steel. It's unlikely Gunn and Peter Safran would be ousted after just one stumble, but the next couple of years will demand a careful balancing act as they make bold creative choices with lesser-known characters like Booster Gold and Swamp Thing, while still delivering some surefire hits. Superman is the litmus test for whether audiences are ready to believe in the DCU again. If it works, it'll give the new era a solid foundation. If it doesn't, we may be watching another rebuild in real-time. July 11 is coming fast. Let's see if the world is ready to believe a man can fly again.

Warner Bros. Considered Hiring Michael Bay to Direct MAN OF STEEL 2 with Henry Cavill — GeekTyrant
So here's a wild one for all you DC fans out there! At one point in 2022, Warner Bros. briefly considered handing Man of Steel 2 to none other than Transformers director Michael Bay, with Henry Cavill's version of Superman. This all came to light thanks to a recent report from The Wrap, which revealed, "Before Gunn and Safran's hiring, Warner Bros. Pictures chiefs Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy briefly tried to get a standalone Henry Cavill-led Superman film going in 2022, with Michael Bay eyed to possibly direct, according to two insiders." Cavill's Superman soaring through Bayhem… that would've been a bonkers Superman movie. Bay was just one name in the mix. Another filmmaker Warner Bros. considered was Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie, who had previously teamed up with Cavill on Fallout . McQuarrie even teased what could've been an emotionally rich and ambitious take on Superman, saying: "I will tell you, the first 5 minutes of my Superman movie was... you remember Pixar's Up? [It was] a sequence with no dialogue that covered that character. '[It] was a set-up, after which you knew exactly what makes Superman tick and exactly what Superman was most afraid of and why Superman made the choices he made. 'It would have been epic. The scale of the movie would have been absolutely extraordinary. I'll never tell. I'll never tell, but boy was it fing good. It was fing good." That version clearly had heart. As for Bay's vision? It's hard to say. Despite being approached, Bay has consistently shown little interest in joining established superhero franchises. In fact, around the same time this Superman idea was floating around, he told the press: "It's not that I'm not interested in Marvel. As Ridley Scott says, the most complicated thing for a director and the most fun thing for a director is to build the world. "I'm not the guy to go into Lucas' Star Wars and do Star Wars Five. That's not me. I'm not the one to come into Iron Man Seven. I'm not the one to do Batman 10. 'I want to do my own thing. I would love to do a superhero thing but I want to do it on my own terms and create my own world." Still, it's interesting to imagine what Bay's take on Superman, would've been had he accepted the opportunity to take it on. In the end, the DCEU, as we knew it, collapsed under the weight of its own craziness, and James Gunn's fresh start is now on the horizon with Superman set to launch a new chapter. But, for a fleeting moment, there was a timeline where Cavill returned, and Michael Bay brought him back in a blaze of exploding barns, wild flying chase sequences, and American flags fluttering in slow motion in the middle of massive Superman battle.
