Blackpool: Man dies after being hit by car as he crossed road

A man has died after being struck by a car as he crossed the road in Blackpool.It happened on a pedestrian crossing on Plymouth Road, close to the junction with Mowbray Drive, at about 19:55 GMT on Monday, Lancashire Police said.A man in his 70s from St Annes suffered serious injuries and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment where he later died.A 43-year-old man from Blackpool was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is in custody.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

According to his attorney, he was put into solitary confinement on June 10 and locked up with anxiety medication. He was given further medications and directed to take them, the filing said. Three days later, Kelly reported feeling "faint" and "dizzy" - and reported seeing "black spots in his vision" - before he passed out and was rushed to nearby Duke University Hospital. His legal team allege his ill health was as a result of being given dangerously-high quantities of medication. The reports of an overdose come just days after his attorneys accused prison officials of throwing him in solitary confinement as punishment for filing an emergency motion. Kelly reportedly filed the motion to escape death threats from what he believed to be white supremacists inside the prison. More to follow...
