Paedophile who groomed young boys in Accrington jailed
A paedophile has been jailed after perpetrating serious sexual offences against a six-year-old boy and an eight-year-old Thomson groomed the two young victims in the Accrington area, attempted to rape them and carried out multiple sexual assaults against them, Lancashire Police the 53-year-old was arrested, two previous victims came forward to say they had also been sexually assaulted when they were between eight and 10 years old, the force said, having been befriended by Thomson when he was in his late teens/early 20s and they were still at school. Thomson, of Bawdlands, Clitheroe, was jailed for 24 years at Burnley Crown Court after admitting child sexual offences. 'Manipulative sexual deviant' He had earlier pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a child under 13, causing/inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a had forced the victims to watch him perform lewd acts on himself, telling them not to tell anyone about what he was doing "or it will be bad luck in life", police Con Hannah Blundel said: "Thomson is a manipulative sexual deviant who carried out unspeakable sexual crimes against two vulnerable boys. "This is some of the worst sexual offending I have seen in my career and I welcome the significant sentence Thomson has received, which reflects the very real danger he poses to all male children."I want to praise the victims for their bravery in coming forward, though they may not fully understand what happened to them or why." Football fan banned for running on to pitch at Accrington Stanley
A football fan has been banned from attending matches for three years after running onto the pitch at Accrington Stanley's Wham Griffiths, of Birkenhead, jumped over a barrier from the Coppice Terrace to celebrate Tranmere Rovers' 101st-minute equaliser in the 3-3 draw with Stanley on 12 34-year-old ran on the pitch with his arms raised, and was seen attempting to hug a Tranmere player, before running towards the centre of the pitch, Lancashire Police was later identified and ordered to attend Blackburn Magistrates' Court where he pleaded guilty to entering the playing area during a football match. 'Completely unacceptable' The court imposed a three-year banning order, issued Mr Griffiths with a £40 fine, and ordered him to pay £85 in Ross Bosdorff said Griffiths' actions were "completely unacceptable"."Such actions disrupt the game and can put players at unnecessary risk."We will take action against fans who enter the playing area during matches." Police issue statement after M61 closed with clean-up taking place for hours
Officers closed part of the M61 after three vehicles crashed overnight near Bolton. Police say one person suffered minor injuries following a collision on the northbound carriageway between Rivington Services and junction eight, at Chorley. Emergency services were called out to the scene at 2.45am this morning (July 27). Police hunt sex offender last seen at Bournemouth railway station days after prison release
Police are searching for a sex offender who was last seen at a train station three weeks ago, days after his release from prison. Christopher Spelman, 66, originally from Prescot, Merseyside, is believed to be living in a tent and moving between transport hubs and campsites. Lancashire Police said he failed to register an address with police following his release from prison at the start of July. Spelman was released near Weymouth but is wanted for failing to comply with sexual offender notification requirements. CCTV images show him at Bournemouth railway station at 10.56am on Friday 4 July, where he was seen exiting towards Holdenhurst Road. Police believe he may have used local shops, buses or taxis in the area. Members of the public are urged to call 999 immediately if they see him. Anyone with information or earlier sightings is asked to email mosovowest@ A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: 'We are continuing to ask for your help to find Christopher Spelman, 66, who is wanted for failing to comply with sexual offender notifications requirements.
