Fans ambush actor after storming business class on flight
This is the dramatic moment airline staff were forced to wrestle with a mob of crazed fans who tried to storm business class mid-flight in an attempt to snap a photo with Chinese star Tian Xu Ning.
The chaos erupted on board Xiamen Airlines flight MF8330 from Changsha to Fuzhou on July 8, when a group of passengers crowded around the curtain separating economy from business class.
Footage from the incident shows three frantic flight attendants forming a barrier and desperately pulling the drapes shut as fans attempted to push through. (Watch in the video player above).

Cabin crew could be heard pleading with passengers to sit down, warning them they were about to land.
'Don't squeeze forward, the plane hasn't stopped yet,' one flight attendant said.
A witness told local media that the star – who was seated in 11L – remained silent throughout the ordeal.
The 27-year-old rose to fame earlier this year after a breakout role in hit Chinese drama Revenged Love.
In a separate encounter, he was reportedly harassed by fans during another flight, some of whom accused him of secretly having a girlfriend and a child.
Witnesses on the flight overhead fans telling him: 'Tell your girlfriend to stop appearing in the public', 'Change to someone else. Break up with her', and 'Is the kid really yours?'.
His management has denied these claims, urging fans to 'relax.'
'Relax, Tian Xu Ning is unmarried and childless,' they said.
'In no way, shape or form is this acceptable behaviour from fans. We have been asking fans to do better, but it's getting worse. Mobbing Tian Xu Ning at the airport. Let the boy breathe, please.'

The incidents have sparked widespread backlash on Chinese social media, with fans weighing in to slam the 'heartbreaking' behaviour.
'This is heartbreaking to see Tian Xu Ning go through this. It crosses all boundaries, and it's unfair to the actors who just want to do their jobs. I hope his team can take strong legal action, and maybe it's time for the industry to push for better protections against these invasions. Fans should support, not harass,' one wrote.
'Seriously?! This is so crazy! Why can't they give him space,' another said.

Legal experts have also weighed in, warning that such actions could have serious consequences.
'Obstructing the crew and blocking the cabin passage can be considered disrupting public order under China's regulations on public security administration punishments,' Yang Mei, deputy director of Hunan Zhongyi law firm, said.
'Fans could face warnings and fines up to 200 CNY ($42 AUD), or detention of five to 10 days in serious cases.
'If their actions endanger flight safety, criminal charges may also apply. Airlines can also blacklist disruptive passengers and restrict future travel.'

What's on in Darwin August 2 and 3, 2025: Festival tips, 360 at Mayberry, and crocodile racing
WHAT'S ON THIS WEEKEND Music lovers are again in for a treat this weekend. If you've been keeping up with my Gig Guide on We Are Locals, you'll know that all weekend this weekend is the 53rd Top Half Folk Festival. But this year is a little different, it's at Mt Bundy Station, on the banks of the Adelaide River. The festival is bringing together more than 40 artists from across the NT and beyond, for four days and three nights of music and entertainment. It started yesterday but you can just go for the day any day this weekend, or grab yourself a weekend pass. It's a bit of a long weekend treat, going out to a gig on a Sunday night – and fans of Aussie hip hop can catch 360 with his special guest PEZ at Mayberry from 8pm. If you're keen to get on the microphone yourself, it's First Sunday Blues at Tracy Village from 3pm. Head along to listen to the local blues bands, or sign yourself up to belt out a few tracks on the board when you enter. And Monday, of course, is the Darwin Cup – but if you're feeling like going full Territory, check out the 'Croc Cup Carnival' at the Berry Springs Tavern on Sunday from 2pm. Yes – it's croc racing … But don't worry, they're only freshies. SOMEWHERE YOU NEED TO EAT It's an oldie but a goodie – so if you've been there, I am sure this is a welcome reminder to bring it back into the rotation, and if not: you need to try the Moorish lunch special. For $35, you get the choice of three tapas plates and a glass of Sangria – and if you go with friends and all get different plates, it's a seriously good way of tasting the whole menu. If you're going to order your own meals, try the Portobello mushroom with cauliflower puree, almonds, currants and truffle oil. YUM. LOCAL'S TIP It's officially less than a week to go until Darwin Festival – a reminder to break free of the NT stereotype of buying tickets at the last minute, and actually pre-booking your shows to avoid disappointment, and support the arts. Speaking of supporting: brand new gym and recreation facility, Gecko Climb, opens this weekend. It's four years in the making. There's some serious climbing equipment there and they're also running a cafe, workout spaces, team building areas – the whole shebang! It takes a lot of work to bring something of that scale to life, and I always have great respect for people who go all in to bring new things to Darwin – so get down and check it out.

"Shimmering" and "strikingly new" — Siang Lu wins Miles Franklin Literary Award
First time Miles Franklin shortlistee, Siang Lu has won the prestigious book prize for his second novel Ghost Cities which is inventive, complex and satirical. He will receive $60 000 and share a seat in Australian literary history alongside luminaries Kim Scott, Thea Astely and Michelle de Kretser (two-time winner and fellow 2025 shortlistee). The prize judges said Ghost Cities "redefines what Australian literature can be". Ghost Cities is about narrator Xiang Lu who's been branded a #BadChinese and is drawn into the weird and duplicitous world of Baby Bao, a tyrannical director who's using one of China's modern "ghost cities" as the set for his latest film. There's also a second narrative interwoven throughout the book which is set in ancient China and has a mythological style. Ghost Cities follows Lu's 2022 first novel, The Whitewash, which is also a satire about film and both books use humour and absurdity to confront questions of race and racism. Listen to The Book Show's Miles Franklin shortlist episode to hear from all of the authors on the 2025 list.
