Has Derrick Groves changed his appearance? Alleged photo of escaped New Orleans inmate viral
The claims going viral on social media had a set of mugshots, one of Groves, and the others seemed to be different variations of the same mugshot. The photo does not have any watermark or other attributions to suggest it is from the New Orleans Police Department.

Groves is the last inmate still at large among the 10 who escaped the New Orleans Parish Prison on May 16, 2025, through a wall behind the toilet. While eight of the escaped inmates, Jermaine Donald (43), Leo Tate (32), Lenton Vanburen (27), Corey Boyd (20), Gary Price (21), Dkenan Dennis (24), Robert Moody (22), and Kendall Myles (21, were caught within days of escaping, Antonie Massie and Derrick Groves continued to elude the New Orleans Police Department.

Antoine Massie Captured
Last week, Antoine Massie was arrested by the US Marshals Service at a residence in New Orleans, the Louisiana State Police said. The 33-year-old's arrest from the house in the city's Third District came after a tip from a local.
Derrick Groves, 28, meanwhile, still remains at large, with the New Orleans Police Department offering a reward of $50,000 for tips leading to his capture. Groves was charged in 2018 with two counts of second-degree murder for a shooting in 2018 at a Mardi Gras Event. He faces the possibility of a lifetime in prison without parole, per prosecutors.
Earlier this week, on Monday, all of the 10 recaptured inmates were charged with simple jail break at the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, NOLA reported. Groves, once captured, will likely also face simple jailbreak charges.

She announced on Thursday that she'd filed a lawsuit against Roblox in the state court, alleging that children headed to the platform are not protected from predators, Forbes reported. 'Roblox is overrun with harmful content and child predators because it prioritizes user growth, revenue, and profits over child safety,' Murrill said. Some days back, Roblox found itself in hot water when Schlep, who was working on delivering 'vigilante justice' found himself banned due to his actions. (AP) Trump, earlier this week, activated hundreds of District of Columbia National Guard to back up local law enforcement, while calling a 'crime emergency' in the US capital. While announcing the decision of federal takeover and deploying 800 National Guards at DC, Trump alleged that crimes in the capital had gone up. West Virginia's decision to assist the Trump administration was announced by Governor Patrick Morrisey on X. 'At the request of the Trump administration, I have directed the @WVNationalGuard to support the President's initiative to make D.C. safe and beautiful. We are deploying 300-400 skilled personnel to the nation's capital, reflecting our commitment to a strong and secure America,' Morrisey wrote on X. The deployment comes under the comment of the state's adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Jim Seward, who said that West Virginia was ready to support its 'partners in the National Capital Region and contribute to the collective effort of making our nation's capital a clean and safe environment.' 'The National Guard's unique capabilities and preparedness make it an invaluable partner in this important undertaking,' Seward said in a statement. Meanwhile, DC challenged the takeover of its police department in court on Friday. This came hours after the Trump administration took a major step, naming a federal official as the new emergency head of police the department, with all the powers of a police chief. The fresh lawsuit, filed by District of Columbia Attorney General Brian Schwalb, said that the US President had gone far beyond his power under the law. Schwalb asked a judge to find that in such cases, the power remains with the police department and also sought an emergency restraining order. 'The administration's unlawful actions are an affront to the dignity and autonomy of the 700,000 Americans who call D.C. home. This is the gravest threat to Home Rule that the District has ever faced, and we are fighting to stop it,' Shwalb said.

Fire at Russian industrial plant kills 11, injures 130
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Moscow, Aug 16 (AP) A fire at an industrial plant in Russia's Ryazan region on Friday killed 11 people and injured 130, Russian officials said Saturday. The blaze broke out Friday at the Elastik plant in the Shilovsky District, around 250 kilometres southeast of Moscow. Emergency crews continued to search through debris into the weekend, and two additional bodies were recovered overnight, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said. According to the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti, a gunpowder workshop at the facility caught fire and triggered the blast. Of the injured, 29 remained hospitalised on Saturday — 13 in Ryazan and 16 transported to medical centres in Moscow, officials said. Regional authorities said three people were rescued from under the rubble overnight as investigators launched a preliminary probe into the cause of the fire. Local authorities declared a day of mourning in the Ryazan region on Monday. 'Flags will be lowered across the region. Cultural institutions, television and radio companies and organisations have been asked to cancel entertainment events," Ryazan Governor Pavel Malkov said in a statement on Telegram. It was the second deadly explosion at the Elastik plant in less than four years.
