Lathrop traffic stop leads to nearly a ton of illegal fireworks being seized
In a post on Monday, Lathrop Police said the Lathrop-Manteca Fire District and San Joaquin County's Explosive Ordinance Division helped safely secure these items.

In total, authorities say 1,815 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized. Additionally, police say 72 homemade explosives were also recovered.
Police did not give any information about the person arrested.
San Joaquin County has adopted stricter enforcement ordinances for 2025 against both illegal and "safe and sane" fireworks. Residents are being urged to review these rules before the Fourth of July.

Soulja Boy arrested on weapons charges in Los Angeles
Rapper Soulja Boy, who exploded onto the scene in 2007 with the smash hit "Crank That (Soulja Boy)," was arrested on weapons charges in Los Angeles early Sunday morning, according to authorities. Man breaks into Sacramento building, dies after falling from sixth-story balcony
A man fell to his death from a Sacramento building early Sunday morning after breaking into the business complex, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said. Fire crews were the first to arrive at the 1750 Howe Avenue scene around 2:30 a.m. due to a fire alarm, the Sacramento Fire Department said. The Sheriff's Office said firefighters reported seeing a man who had broken in on the sixth-floor balcony. Not long after deputies arrived, the man climbed over the railing and fell. Fire crews provided first aid, but the man died at the hospital from his injuries. The Sheriff's Office said they investigated and found that the man had broken into the complex, caused $100,000 worth of damage, pulled a fire alarm and then made his way onto the balcony. The Sheriff's Office has not identified the man as of Sunday morning.

Officers arrived to find two victims 'lying on the ground about 30 yards away from each other," the San Bernardino Police Department (SBPD) said, per the outlets. KTLA identified the one victim as Teodora Mendoza, 51. The outlet said the woman had severe face injuries and was taken to the hospital, but she was later pronounced dead. The identity of the second woman has not yet been released. It is not currently known if the two victims knew each other. Speaking with the Times, San Bernardino Police Sgt. Chris Gray said of the animals involved, "It appears they may have been stray dogs." "It was a bit of a chaotic scene at first, because there were multiple dogs out there," he added. According to KTLA, one Pitbull was shot dead after it charged at a police officer when they arrived at the scene. The incident occurred near a homeless encampment, and San Bernardino Animal Control later responded to the scene and removed 14 dogs, per KTLA and the Times. Mendoza's son, Alex Lozano, told the Times his mother had been homeless for more than a year at the time of the death. He added that she often visited Perris Hill Park with a male companion. 'My grandpa from Texas called and said that my mom was attacked by Pit bulls. That's how I found out,' Lozano, 21, said. He added that he and his mother had not spoken for some time.
