FERRARI has revealed the launch date for its first ever electric vehicle - after having "prepared for years".
The car giant's CEO Benedetto Vigna made the bombshell announcement at a financial meeting, saying that the car would be unveiled in three steps.

He said that the manufacturer will show "the technological heart" of the new model at the company's capital markets day on October 9.
The revolutionary model's debut will take place in the spring of next year and sales will start in October 2026, Vigna announced on May 6.
The groundbreaking statement is the first time Ferrari has indicated when the EV could reach customers.
In February, Vigna claimed the car would be presented at the company's capital market day in October.
Ferrari Chairman John Elkann said that his company had been "preparing for years" for electrification.
The company first started selling hybrid models in 2019 - but has now scheduled to unveil the new fully electric cars for this October.
Elkann said during the company's annual shareholders' meeting: "Electrification has been a path that we've been pursuing now for decades, starting in Formula One and then from our race cars to our sports cars.
"We are very excited about unveiling the Ferrari Elettrica."
He praised the newly inaugurated Ferrari facility - which was introduced in June in its hometown of Maranello.
Known as the e-building, he said it would give the firm increased manufacturing flexibility to develop future models.

"Now, we can also claim that all our key electric components are developed and handcrafted in Maranello," Elkann added.
Vigna reaffirmed that Ferrari would continue to produce petrol, hybrid as well as fully electric cars.
Hybrid cars made up 51% of all Ferrari sales in 2024.
Vigna said: "Indeed, in line with our strategy, we continue to invest in all three powertrains ... to offer our clients maximum freedom of choice."
Ferrari sells about one in four cars in the United States - its largest market.
The firm said in March that it plans to raise prices for some of its models by as much as 10 percent because of Donald Trump's tariffs.
But despite the economic changes - Ferrari on May 6 reported a 15 per cent rise in first-quarter core earnings and stuck to its financial guidance for the year.

Toyota will also discontinue its manual gearbox petrol version, making the Aygo X hybrid-only. The Japanese carmaker has found a great deal of popularity with its "A-segment" city car, selling nearly 300,000 since they were introduced in 2022. Now, its refreshed Aygo X could attract even more buyers with its 114bhp 1.5L petrol-electric hybrid setup - borrowed from the larger and more expensive Yaris and Yaris Cross. However, the design has been adapted from these other motors, due to the Aygo's tight dimnesions. For example, while battery cells are usually found parallel in the Yaris, the Aygo X will have them placed as two stacks alongside each other underneath the rear seats. The auxiliary battery will also be moved under the boot storage in order to not cramp the space inside the tiny motor. In terms of power, this new hybrid setup churns out a respectable 114bhp, far more than the 71bhp seen in the current Aygo. Toyota says this means the Aygo X will be able to go from 0-62mph in "less than 10 seconds". The new motor is also expected to boast fuel economy figures beyond 70mpg, reports Car Magazine. The iconic Japanese carmaker has also claimed to have made the Aygo quieter and more comfortable through increased noise insulation, especially on the top-spec model - which will come with thicker glass. On its exterior, the updated Aygo X boasts new sharp LED headlights as well as a redesigned front bumper. The motor stretches 76mm longer than its predecessor, primarily to accommodate the larger hybrid powertrain. The car maker plans to invest around £41 million to set up a new production line dedicated to making GR Corollas, according to Reuters. Toyota has denied that Trump tariffs are behind the potential shift, despite taxes on Britain being 10 per cent compared to Japan's 25 per cent. In light of the potential move, Japanese automaker Toyota revealed that new cars could be added to the European market. Currently, the GR Corolla is only available in Japan and is exported to North America and select other markets. Burnaston plant currently produces the Corolla hatchback and estate for the UK and European markets, but production rates could significantly improve with the proposed investment. A new production line could be operational within 12 months, with reports suggesting that Japanese engineers may temporarily relocate to Derbyshire to assist with the transition. On top of a new bonnet, there is also an option to have a retractable canvas roof. If you're feeling like splashing out some more cash, there's also a newly introduced GR Sport trim level for the Aygo X, said to be "inspired by Toyota's motorsport teams". In the cabin, there aren't many changes to come with the update - although a new seven-inch digital instrument cluster has been added. There is also expected to be a new wireless smartphone charger for higher-spec cars. Prices and specifications have yet to be fully announced for the Aygo X, although experts have said to expect a "healthy increase" on top of the car's current starting price of £16,845.

Costing almost £4 billion, the plans aim to create the first garden city in 100 years across 2,500 acres of brownfield land on the Kent Thames Riverside. Ebbsfleet will feature a staggering 15,000 new homes with 50 new parks and open spaces. Green and blue space will comprise 40% of the city by 2035, which is when the project is expected to be finished. It will, according to developers, become a place for Brits to "grow a family, build a business, socialise, and enjoy a unique city-country lifestyle on the edge of London and Kent." The planning application is expected to be submitted later this year. It will be made up of a collection of brownfield development sites within Dartford and Gravesham Boroughs. Three major projects comprise the Ebbsfleet Garden City: Ebbsfleet Central, Northfleet Embankment and Community buildings and spaces. Ebbsfleet Central will be a mixed-use residential and commercial area and will feature around 2,100 homes, of which 35 per cent are Affordable Housing. It will also include up to 100,000 square metres of office floor space and 10,000 square metres of retail floor space. Huge new £1.3billion redevelopment to create new 'cultural hub' in London This will be for restaurants, bars, cafes and supermarkets. A great option for commuters, Ebbsfleet Central is just 17 minutes from Central London. It is hoped that the revamped area will become a "magnet for inclusive economic growth" and a "destination of choice for investment and innovation". Ebbsfleet Development Corporation submitted the outline of the plans for the first phase of new development in Ebbsfleet Central in 2022. This includes building new leisure facilities, a new school and more open spaces for future residents. It also involves building the Eastgate Community Building in the middle of Springhead Park. This will be a church and a local community centre. It comes after Britain's newest town - built next to a major motorway - was set to cost a whopping £2.5billion with restaurants, shops and sports facilities. The Elms Park development, located in the north of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, was approved by local authorities yesterday. Councils have given the go-ahead to the massive new town serving almost 9,000 people. It will be situated on the outskirts of the Cotswolds, just off junction 10 of the M5, and will feature roughly 60 acres for employment land. Tewkesbury Borough Council described the approval of the 4,115 homes as the "biggest decision" it had ever made. The plans include a 25-acre business park, a hotel, shops, cafes, new schools, healthcare facilities and a transport hub. Elms Park Consortium, led by house builders Bloor Homes and Persimmon, claims that the project will create as many as 8,000 jobs in the area. It estimates that the development will provide 1,000 affordable homes while generating up to £300m for the local economy each year. Rob White, agent for the applicant, said: "Approximately £25m will be spent on community infrastructure. 'It will contribute £300 million a year into the sub-regional economy, creating and supporting over 8,000 new jobs, with 30 apprenticeships a year during construction over 20 years. "Over 4000 new homes will be built, providing for a new community of around 9,000 residents, many of whom will already be living in the area. 'Approximately £50 million pounds will be spent on providing new schools, including a secondary school and two primary schools on site. 'A sports hub containing new facilities for cricket, football, tennis, and an all-weather 3G pitch will be provided on site along with significant contributions to local rugby and hockey clubs.
