Odisha to revise 2021 EV Policy
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to launch EV Policy 2.0 aiming to have at least 50 per cent battery-operated electric vehicles (BEVs) in all new vehicle registrations by 2036.
The State is in the process of revising the Odisha EV (electric vehicle) Policy 2021 with an extension of validity and enhancement of incentives for EV buyers and Charge Point Operators (CPOs), an official statement said on Wednesday.
The policy framework was discussed at a meeting held here in the presence of Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Transport, and Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Energy.
Senior officials from both the departments took part in comprehensive discussions aimed at advancing Odisha's electric mobility transition and achieving key targets.
Registration of EVs are on the rise in the State, from 1.16 per cent in 2021 to 8.71 per cent on June 20, 2025, according to the statement. It was resolved to aim for at least 50 per cent BEVs in all new vehicle registrations by 2036.
Odisha currently has over 550 Public Charging Stations (PCS), including captive infrastructure operated by two-wheeler manufacturers, power distribution companies and oil marketing companies.
The State Transport Authority (STA) has already issued a request for proposal for developing EV charging stations at strategic locations across the State.
A holistic approach is being adopted to boost both supply (manufacturing ecosystem) and demand (consumer incentives) to ensure balanced and inclusive EV growth.
The revised EV policy aims to promote green mobility, reduce carbon emission and transform the State into a model EV ecosystem in the country.

MP: Ratlam hosts landmark 'MP RISE 2025' conclave, paving way for Industrial surge
Ratlam: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav inaugurated the 8th Regional Industry, Skill and Employment (RISE) Conclave on Friday at Nehru Stadium in Ratlam, marking a pivotal moment in Madhya Pradesh's industrial advancement. He performed the Bhoomi Pujan and launched 47 industrial units valued at over Rs 1,670 crore with a single click, underscoring the state's commitment to rapid industrial growth and employment generation. These projects are expected to create more than 3,780 new jobs, reinforcing the government's focus on employment-led development. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a satellite township would soon come up in Ratlam to accommodate devotees attending Simhastha 2028 in Ujjain, facilitating their stay and gradual movement into the month-long religious congregation. Besides, a textile park sponsored by the Central government will soon come up in Dhar district. The event, themed 'Successful Entrepreneurs, Prosperous Industries, Inclusive Growth', attracted over 3,500 industrialists and investors from across India. More than 5,000 participants had registered on the Invest MP portal, reflecting the conclave's growing national prominence. This is the first time such a conclave was held at a district headquarters, highlighting Ratlam's emergence as a strategic industrial centre. Chief Minister Yadav also laid the foundation stone for the BJP's new district office near Pratapnagar. The upcoming 24,600 square-foot facility, replacing the existing cramped office on Palace Road, is being constructed on land purchased for Rs 67.36 lakh. State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Minister Chetan Kashyap stated that the conclave would accelerate Ratlam's transformation into the state's second-largest industrial zone. He also announced the distribution of land allotment certificates to over 500 enterprises and loan disbursement of Rs 1,000 crore to support more than one lakh youth in self-employment ventures. The event also featured the virtual inauguration of new industrial areas in Rewa, Sagar, Alirajpur, and Pithampur. Notably, 16 new industrial zones worth Rs 243 crore and 11 state-level clusters were launched. These initiatives are expected to attract investment proposals totalling Rs 2,850 crore and generate over 5,450 jobs. With 2025 declared as the 'Year of Industry and Employment', the RISE 2025 Conclave marks a significant step toward Madhya Pradesh's goal of inclusive and self-reliant development.

19 vehicles of MP CM's convoy break down
Bhopal, June 27 (UNI) In a bizarre incident, 19 vehicles of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav's convoy broke down together after diesel allegedly mixed with water was filled in their tanks at a fuel station in the Ratlam district of the state late Thursday night. Authorities carried out an inspection of the fuel station, and subsequently it was sealed. The stalled vehicles, mostly Toyota Innovas, had to be towed away and a replacement fleet was summoned hurriedly from Indore, to be used for the CM, who arrived in Ratlam on Friday afternoon and inaugurated the Regional Industry, Skill, and Employment (RISE) Conclave. According to officials, the vehicles had refueled at the 'Shakti Petrol Pump' at Dosigaon in Ratlam district. According to Additional Collector Shalini Shrivastava, samples of diesel were collected immediately after the matter came to light. She said the petrol pump was sealed soon after. A team of officials collected fuel samples for testing and also checked the petrol pump's underground fuel tank. Officials are investigating whether water was mixed deliberately in diesel or if rain water had seeped into the underground fuel storage tank. UNI XC PRS
