Joe Jonas Admits It Was 'Scary And Intimidating' Dating Again After Divorcing Sophie Turner
Joe Jonas opened up about the challenges of dating again after his divorce from actress Sophie Turner.
The former couple's split involved a custody battle, which was later resolved with Turner moving to the UK with their two daughters.
Channeling his emotions, Joe Jonas created a new album, "Music For People Who Believe In Love," reflecting his personal growth.
Jonas recently revealed that one of the most "intimidating" parts of his split from Turner was stepping back into the dating world.
While chatting about his upcoming album, "Music For People Who Believe In Love," during a TalkShopLive session, Jonas touched on the emotions behind the track "Only Love."
He explained that the song was inspired by a moment in his life when he was exploring romance again.
"I was seeing somebody at the time and I was kind of having this idea of dating again," Jonas recalled, per the Daily Mail. "It was really scary and intimidating. Love takes different shapes and forms, and I was rediscovering what that was."
The 35-year-old singer recalled a simple yet powerful comment from the person he was dating at the time: "It's only love."
That statement stuck with him, as he noted, "I was like, 'Well, when you put it that way…' So we wrote a song about it. Like, it was not a big deal, but it was a big deal to me, and a big deal to them, too."
He added: "But it's okay to take a leap of faith and just try again and put yourself out there."
Jonas and Turner first began dating in 2016, and their relationship quickly blossomed. By 2019, the former lovebirds had exchanged vows and started a life together.
During their time as a couple, they became parents to two daughters, Willa, now 4, and Delphine, 2.
However, their seemingly strong union came to an end in 2023, and by September 2024, their divorce was officially finalized. The separation wasn't without challenges, especially when it came to co-parenting.
The former couple found themselves in a legal custody dispute, particularly over where their daughters would primarily live.
At one point, tensions escalated when Turner, who is originally from the UK, filed a child abduction complaint against the "Sucker" singer though she later requested for the case to be dropped in January of the following year.
Ultimately, the matter was resolved, and by March, it was reported that Turner would be relocating to the United Kingdom with both children.
After Jonas filed for divorce from Turner, the actress responded that the "breakdown of her marriage" to the singer "happened very suddenly."
The two had been married for four years and seemed to be a happy couple outwardly. However, they appeared to have more than their fair share of arguments at home.
One such argument occurred last year on August 15, 2023, Jonas' 34th birthday. Barely a month later, the singer filed for divorce.
According to a report, Turner alleged at the time that she did not get notice of the divorce, claiming in her filing that she "found out through the media."
Following his split from Turner, Jonas poured his emotions into his creative process, resulting in his upcoming studio album, "Music For People Who Believe In Love."
Speaking with Billboard, the artist revealed that the project took shape during a period of "going through a lot of life changes."
"Finding out who I was as a person and father, and friend, and living under the microscope of what the music industry can be. And I think, at such a crazy time in my life, I looked to music as an outlet," he shared.
The "This is Me" singer described the process as both liberating and intimidating, stating: "It was scary at times, and also freeing. I'm not trying to come for anyone on this album. I'm not trying to put stuff on blast. I have a beautiful life that I'm grateful for. I've got two beautiful kids. I'm a happy person, and the music needed to resemble that - but also, the journey to get here."
Joe Jonas is gearing up to hit the stage once again alongside his brothers, Kevin and Nick, for their "Living The Dream" tour, a special reunion marking the 20th anniversary of the Jonas Brothers.
The milestone tour is scheduled to kick off this summer, bringing their two-decade journey full circle.
In an official announcement, the trio expressed their excitement: "We're beyond excited to hit the road and celebrate 20 years of music. Our fans have been with us through every chapter, and this tour is our way of honoring them, the memories we've made, and the ones we'll create together. We can't wait to make this our biggest, most unforgettable tour yet."
The tour launches on August 10 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and will span multiple cities across the U.S. and Canada before wrapping up on November 14.

Amir Jahari not ready for a large-scale concert
12 Jun - Although he has been performing for 14 years, Amir Jahari doesn't see himself holding a big concert anytime soon. The singer-songwriter, who is having his first showcase this coming August, said that he has actually declined three different offers from organisers for a large-scale concert after winning Anugerah Juara Lagu two years ago. "To me, although I have won AJL, I am still not confident that it can pull in audiences to attend my concert. In order to do so, I think one should at least have five albums or 20 original songs including hits," he said. The singer said that he only has three albums for now, and only five songs that fans would request whenever he performs. As for his upcoming showcase, "Ubat Hati Ubat Jiwa" to be held at FINAS, Amir, real name Mohamad Amirullah Jahari, said that he is happy that 50 percent of the tickets are already sold. "I trust that the tickets will sell out by then. The showcase is held for 500 of my loyal fans who appreciate my music," he added. (Photo Source: Amir Jahari IG)

A horrible time made much easier by the wonderful kindness of the angels at St Leonard's. "By awful freaky coincidence, my dearest friend Sarah Walker and her family lost their legendary dad and husband Peter Walker just weeks before my mum and then devastatingly so her precious sister Tricia Walker just months later. An utterly heartbreaking time for all." Peter and Tricia Walker Retired policeman Peter was better known as writer Nicholas Rhea, whose Constable series of books was turned into the hugely popular TV series Heartbeat. Sarah said: "This will be a charity fundraising concert in memory of my dad, sister, and my Ian's mum who all died in St Leonard's Hospice York within months of each other. It is also the hospice's 40th anniversary, so we felt it a fitting time to do it this year." She added: "Both Ian and I have long wanted to repay the hospice for the support our families received at the most difficult of times. Ian came up with the idea of a charity show after learning that St Leonard's receives just a quarter of its annual running costs from the NHS. The other six million pounds has to come from fundraising. We want to do our bit to help.' All of the artists are donating their time and talent for free so as much money as possible will go directly to the hospice, added Ian. Sarah Atkinson, community and events manager at St Leonard's said: "We're really excited about the upcoming Voices United evening at the Grand Opera House as we celebrate our 40th anniversary.
