Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, claiming the Prime Minister halted Operation Sindoor after a phone call from then US President Donald Trump.
Speaking at a Congress event in Bhopal, Gandhi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of lacking the courage to stand firm under international pressure.
'I now know the BJP and RSS people very well. Just put a little pressure on them, give them a slight push, they run away in fear,' he said.
Modi bowed to Trump's command, claims Gandhi
'Trump gave just a signal, picked up the phone and said, 'Modi ji, what are you doing? Narendra, surrender.' Saying 'Yes, sir', Narendra Modi obeyed Trump's signal,' Gandhi alleged.
He contrasted this with the leadership shown during the 1971 Indo–Pak war, when the United States sent its Seventh Fleet to the Bay of Bengal. 'There was no phone call then,' he said. 'An aircraft carrier arrived, weapons came, but Indira Gandhi stood firm. She said, 'I will do what I must.' That is leadership. That is character.'

Gandhi further criticised the BJP's historical stance, saying, 'Since Independence, they've always had a habit of surrendering. Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel were people who stood up to global powers. They didn't bow down.'
India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of 7 May, targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The strike followed the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, which claimed 26 lives.

Former US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he prevented India and Pakistan from escalating conflict, stating that his administration told both nations it would not trade with those 'shooting at each other'.
However, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar denied those assertions, stating that the cessation of hostilities came through direct negotiations between India and Pakistan.

NIA raids 32 locations in J&K to probe conspiracy by Pak-based terror outfits
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at 32 locations across Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to probe a conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-based terror outfits, officials said. The locations were residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers associated with these Pakistan-based offshoots, such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu and Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF) and others, they said. All of these outfits are affiliated to proscribed terrorist organisations, such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al-Badr etc., the officials said. The raids were carried out in Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla and Kupwara districts, they added. The searches were part of continuing investigations against a terror conspiracy hatched by Pakistan-backed proscribed terrorist organisations and their offshoots to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir, according to a statement issued by the NIA. Live Events "Thirty-two locations in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir were searched as part of today's crackdown," the statement said. The cadres and workers whose premises were searched are under the NIA's scanner for their involvement in supporting terror activities, such as facilitating terrorists, collection and distribution of sticky bombs or magnetic bombs, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), funds, narcotic substances and arms and ammunition, the statement said. According to the NIA investigations, these offshoots, supported by their leaders in Pakistan, have been conspiring to commit acts of terror and violence by radicalising local youngsters and mobilising overground workers to disturb peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. The investigations have revealed that Pakistan-based operatives are using social media platforms and online apps to facilitate and promote terror, the NIA said. "Drones were being used by them to deliver arms/ammunition, explosives, narcotics etc. to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley," the probe agency said. Two live cartridges, a fired bullet head and a bayonet were seized during the searches, it added. Besides, several digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data and documents have been found by the NIA. These will be subjected to a thorough scrutiny by the agency to unravel the details of the terror conspiracy, the NIA said.

This comes as Trump, on Wednesday, directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate top Biden officials, suggesting they possibly collaborated to mislead the public about his cognitive state and exercised presidential authority via autopen. An autopen functions as a mechanical apparatus that produces genuine-looking signatures through the physical control of writing tools. These devices differ from traditional stamps and digital signature printing methods, as they work with diverse writing implements ranging from ballpoint pens to permanent markers, according to product details of commercially available autopens, as Fox News reported. Notably, The Justice Department has accepted the practice of using autopen for signing both legislation and pardons across various presidential administrations. The presidential pardon power, as explicitly outlined in the Constitution, is absolute, and Trump's assertions regarding Biden's knowledge of specific actions remain unsubstantiated without any supporting evidence. "In recent months, it has become increasingly apparent that former President Biden's aides abused the power of Presidential signatures through the use of an autopen to conceal Biden's cognitive decline and assert Article II authority," Trump wrote. "This conspiracy marks one of the most dangerous and concerning scandals in American history. The American public was purposefully shielded from discovering who wielded the executive power, all while Biden's signature was deployed across thousands of documents to effect radical policy shifts," he added. "Given clear indications that President Biden lacked the capacity to exercise his Presidential authority, if his advisors secretly used the mechanical signature pen to conceal this incapacity, while taking radical executive actions all in his name, that would constitute an unconstitutional wielding of the power of the Presidency, a circumstance that would have implications for the legality and validity of numerous executive actions undertaken in Biden's name," Trump further said. House Republicans, under Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer's leadership, commenced an investigation last month to assess whether Biden, experiencing declining health in his presidency's final months, was mentally capable of authorising autopen usage. Comer indicated last week he would consider requiring Biden to appear before the House for questioning if needed. Trump has made similar accusations in the past as well. In March, Trump argued that any preemptive pardons signed by President Biden using an autopen for House select committee members who conducted the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack investigation would be deemed "void" and "vacant."
