Tropical Depression Huaning nears PAR exit, remains unlikely to hit PH
Tropical Depression Huaning is moving northward and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday night or early Tuesday morning, according to state weather bureau PAGASA. As of 11 a.m. Monday, the cyclone's center was located 535 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 70 kph. PAGASA said Huaning is moving slowly and will not directly affect any part of the country, and no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) has been raised. It is also not expected to influence sea conditions over Philippine coastal waters. On its forecast track, the tropical depression is projected to move slowly north-northwestward and pass close to or over the Okinawa Islands in Japan by Tuesday morning or afternoon. The weather bureau added that while Huaning may slightly intensify, it is likely to remain a tropical depression before exiting PAR. LPA inside PAR is now Tropical Depression Huaning
The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression at 2 a.m. on Monday and was named Huaning, PAGASA said. At 4 a.m., Huaning's center was estimated to be located at 520 km east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, the weather bureau said in its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin. Huaning has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h, and central pressure of 1008 hPa. The tropical depression is moving north northwestward at 10 km/h. From Huaning's center, strong winds are extending outwards up to 270 km. No tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS) were raised. "HUANING is unlikely to directly affect the country within the next 48 hours," PAGASA said. The Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan however will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms on Monday due to trough or extension of Huaning. Flash floods or landslides may result due to moderate to at times heavy rains. Up to moderate seas (up to 2.0 m) will be experienced in the following areas on Monday: • the seaboards of Batanes; the northern and western seaboards of Babuyan Islands; the northwestern and western seaboards of Ilocos Norte; and the western seaboards of Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Lubang Island, and Palawan. "Mariners of motor bancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions," PAGASA said. Huaning is expected to move northward until Monday night then turn north northeastward on Tuesday early morning toward Ryukyu Islands in Japan. It is forecast to exit PAR between late Monday evening and Tuesday morning. PAGASA will issue the next tropical cyclone bulletin at 11 a.m. Habagat, localized thunderstorms Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Palawan. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur. The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result during severe thunderstorms. Coastal waters in the western section of Luzon will be moderate, then slight to moderate in the rest of the country. LPA inside PAR has ‘medium' chance of turning into storm — PAGASA
The low pressure area (LPA) inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a 'medium' chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon. At 3 p.m., the LPA was located 585 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. For now, its trough is expected to affect the weather conditions of Ilocos Region, Apayao, Cagayan, Zambales, and Bataan, according to the state weather bureau's 4 p.m. weather forecast. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will persist over Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat). Meanwhile, the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Residents of affected areas were warned against flash floods or landslides. Meanwhile, the LPA observed outside PAR has a 'high' chance of turning into a storm, PAGASA said At 2 p.m., it was located at 1,010 km west of Northern Luzon.
