Five members of the Mexican band Grupo Fugitivo were found murdered after going missing in Reynosa, a city plagued by cartel violence near the U.S. border. Authorities say they were kidnapped en route to a private gig and later killed by suspected members of the Gulf Cartel. Nine suspects have been arrested, and weapons were seized. The incident highlights the growing dangers musicians face in cartel-controlled regions, where violence and cultural life increasingly intersect. With over 480,000 lives lost to organised crime since 2006, the tragedy underscores how deeply embedded gang influence has become in everyday Mexican society. Watch to know more.

3 Dead As Pest Control Plane Crashes In Mexico

A small airplane from Guatemala involved in fighting an outbreak of flesh-eating larvae crashed in southern Mexico on Friday, killing three people, authorities said. The aircraft came down in the southernmost Chiapas state while releasing sterile screwworm flies to combat a pest that prompted the United States to suspend livestock imports from Mexico last month. Two Guatemalan pilots and a Mexican crew member were killed in the crash, aviation authorities said. Mexico and the United States are working together to try to contain the outbreak of the screwworm fly, whose larvae can kill cattle. President Donald Trump's administration complained in April that Mexico was restricting US-contracted planes involved in the effort to operating six days a week instead of seven. Washington also accused Mexican authorities of imposing "substantial import duties" on aviation parts, equipment and sterile fly shipments. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum called the US livestock import suspension "unfair" and said she hoped that it would be lifted soon.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum says fentanyl trafficking to the US has dropped nearly 40% since President Trump took office. She cited preliminary US Customs and Border Protection data and stressed that Mexico is actively seizing the drug before it reaches the border. Responding to a question, Sheinbaum said the crackdown isn't to please Trump but to protect young people in Mexico, the US, and worldwide. Show more Show less
