Incredible UK seaside town with beach that could be in the Mediterranean
If you want to escape to the Med without all the hassle then take a trip to this gorgeous British beach town instead, which features pristine waters and a beautiful beach bar
You don't have to hop on a flight and spend hundreds of pounds to enjoy an idyllic beach holiday – this British coastal gem looks just like the Mediterranean.
The UK's tumultuous weather makes it easy to forget that there are an abundance of gorgeous beaches all across the island. Plus, most avoid the large swarms of crowds that flock to Spain and Greece every summer. So, if you're looking for a beach getaway that still boasts stunning views, this English bay is ideal.
Located in the south of Devon, Blackpool Sands looks like it could be an upmarket beach spot in the south of France or Ibiza. The yellow beach is surrounded by trees and features encompassing views of the coast.
It also boasts a dining venue which features a tropical-style beach bar and a rich seafood-focussed menu. Built with natural wood and stone, the building looks like it organically springs from the beach.
Even better, its floor-to-ceiling glass doors maximise the amount of light that enters the space – making it look like you've stepped straight into a sun-soaked holiday scene.
The decor is also reminiscent of a Mediterranean getaway, with straw umbrellas and . Although much of the interior is designed using the Devon-based brand, Nkuku, as reported by The Sun.
Of course, when it comes to food, the restaurant sticks to its roots, which includes classics like fish and chips and local goat's curd. You can also tuck into crab sourced from the nearby town of Dartmouth.
It's ideal for those looking to unwind and sup on a delicious beverage. The bar serves up an array of unique cocktails, including a 'Beach Pimms' and a "Midnight Sun" gin and tonic.
Plus, vegans and vegetarians don't have to miss out either, as the restaurant provides many diet-friendly options. You can also sup on true Devon-style cream tea all day.
'Such a beautiful beach'
One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: 'Fantastic beach, felt like Summer in October. Amazing food had breakfast, lunch, coffees, they have sauna on the beach, loos, showers, parking, cold water dipping, a beach shop.'
Another said: 'Such a beautiful beach with a fantastic cafe and facilities. We went for afternoon fish and chips which were lovely, especially the curry sauce!'
Equally, the beach is a great spot for adventure lovers. The calm, sheltered waters make it an ideal spot for activities like kayaking and paddle boarding.
The beach also has a Blue Flag status, which means that it has excellent water quality and environmental management. So you don't have to worry about swimming in unclean water.
Although, reviewers do warn that the name of the beach is somewhat of a misnomer, as it is composed of fine shingle rather than side. For this reason, it's advisable to don footwear when strolling along it.

'I went to Benidorm on holiday and couldn't believe cost of a pint'
A man, who is known as the Benidorm Fanatic to his TikTok followers, recently headed to the popular holiday destination and was left gobsmacked by the price of a drink A Brit was gobsmacked by the cost of a pint in Benidorm, despite being a frequent visitor to Spain. Known amongst his TikTok followers as the Benidorm Fanatic, he recounts his visit to Uncle Ron's, a bar renowned for its affordably priced pints, where he found himself pleasantly surprised by just how much bang he got for his buck. In his popular video, he raves: "I tell you what, I believe it's actually a very, very nice pint as well, so it comes to the equivalent of about 84p in British money. Let's go and try it out, shall we? Let's give it a try." Upon reaching the bar, he continued: "So there you go, I'll give you a euro, a €1 pint, and I'll take that. Let's try this €1 pint. Look at that - a nice, clean, cold pint. It's got a nice, good head on it - let's try it." He enthusiastically shared his verdict, saying: "That is actually one of the best pints I've had in one of the popular bars. That is actually one of the best pints I've had in Benidorm to be honest with you. €1, I'll drink them all day." The video quickly gained traction, prompting viewers to share their impressions and even their own tales of Benidorm adventures. Among the comments, one user exclaimed: "Wow," while another who'd been there on holiday exclaimed: "I was there last week." Someone else who'd be there said: "Lovely pint. Had many." Whil a fellow TikToker simply added: "Bargain." Uncle Ron's, a hit with British holidaymakers in Benidorm, is famed for its budget-friendly tipples and hearty meals. TripAdvisor reviews boast of the establishment's offerings from breakfast through to dinner, with an average rating of 3.8 out of 5 on the platform, suggesting it's a must-visit for those seeking a decent meal and drinks while away. In the review section, one visitor commented: "Had a fantastic breakfast at Ron's today. Lovely English produce. Great service. Brilliant staff. "A massive group came in, but they were serviced promptly. Don't know how they manage with so few staff." Another shared their experience: "Last day we visited for some lunch before heading to airport. Left full, which is always a good thing. In all my times of going here, never left unhappy at the service nor the food - always really good." A third reviewer added: "We went many times during our two-week holiday. The staff are friendly and extremely hard working day and night. "Cheapest drinks you will find in town and food to suit everyone (daily deal only 6 euros). It's not a stylish 5* restaurant but then you wouldn't expect it. "For drinks just go to the bar like a normal bar. Always busy Sunday and Friday, so expect to book if you want a Sunday lunch. Would we go again? Certainly would!"
