Jordan lifts export ban on select foodstuff
Jordan's Ministry of Industry and Trade lifted Sunday a ban on the export and re-export of several key food commodities, according to a government decision issued under Regulation No. 41 for the year 2025.
The items now cleared for export and re-export include wheat, semolina flour, and the following dry legumes: chickpeas, lentils, and fava beans, in addition to powdered milk, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
However, the ministry maintained the ban on exporting and re-exporting rice, sugar, and vegetable oils, specifically corn oil, sunflower oil, palm oil, and soybean oil.
Ministry spokesperson Yanal Barmawi told 'Petra' that the decision to retain the ban on certain goods was made ahead of the holy month of Ramadan to ensure a secure strategic reserve and maintain price stability in local markets.
Barmawi added that the lifting of restrictions on other commodities was based on the availability of a sufficient strategic stockpile and aims to allow the private sector to engage in export and re-export activities.

Several standout programs captured audience attention. The 'Comedy Hour' led daily ratings with a 25.3 percent share, reflecting a 49 percent increase over the previous year. Meanwhile, 'Roya News Bulletin' continued to dominate local news programming with an 8.3 percent daily share, up 22 percent, securing its lead among competing news broadcasts. In the cooking show category, which sees significant viewership during Ramadan, Roya TV ranked first with all its culinary programs, including: "Roya Kitchen with Nabil," "Aqwa Sofra," "Yalla Notbukh," and "Habaibna Allazam." In the drama category, "Al Sabaa" and "Taht Sabe' Arḍ" were the top-rated drama series in Jordan throughout Ramadan 2025. Aqaba – The Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) has approved the amended regulation governing the temporary entry of vehicles into the Aqaba Special Economic Zone. The new regulation will offer a range of incentives to investors and companies. اضافة اعلان This decision aligns with ASEZA's vision to promote investment, enhance Aqaba's position as a regional logistics hub, and encourage companies to register and benefit from the investment incentives provided within the zone. The Board also approved a Research Access and Benefit-Sharing Agreement with the Spanish company PharmaMar, as part of ASEZA's sustainable development vision. The agreement aims to encourage investment and scientific research to explore, collect, and study marine organisms from Jordanian territorial waters for biological research and pharmaceutical discovery. This is conditional upon completing the necessary approvals in accordance with Regulation No. (20) of 2021 concerning Access to Environmental Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization.
