Scottie Scheffler's Toddler Steals the Show After British Open Win
Scottie Sheffler's baby boy made his latest victory un-fore-gettable.
After the golfer secured his victory during the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Portrush Golf Club July 22, his 14-month-old son Bennett—who he shares with Meredith Scudder—couldn't wait to celebrate with his dad.
In the adorable moment captured during the championship, Scottie stood at the 18th hole holding onto the claret jug trophy as little Bennett—complete with a pacifier—attempted to walk up the green. The toddler left the crowd shocked as he toppled over and did a little face plant before an open official helped him up and handed him to his father.
Scottie celebrated by lifting Bennett and his trophy in the air, before his wife of five years walked over and greeted him with a kiss.
As for little Bennett's run on the green, the 29-year-old admitted it was just par for the course.

'He was trying to get up that hill on the side of the green,' Scottie explained July 20 during the post-Open press conference. 'I don't think he's ever been up a hill that big before. I felt kinda bad for him. He kept falling down.'
'But that's part of the learning curve and growing up,' he added. 'And it's very cool to have him here. He obviously has no clue what's going on. He just wants to spend some time with me. I hadn't really seen him much of the day so it's pretty cool.'
Indeed, Scottie's win was made better by the people he loves the most.
'When I see my family afterwards, it's a pretty special feeling,' he said. 'It's hard to describe, but it's something I'm very grateful for and something that I'll hold on to for a long time.'

Lottie Woad Wins Scottish Open In Professional Debut
As her wedge shot into the eighteenth hole at Dundonald Links danced around the pin leading to a finishing birdie at the Scottish Open, Lottie Woad announced to the professional golf world that she has arrived. A final round 68 capped off a three-shot victory over a loaded field at the ISPS Handa Women's Scottish Open. (Photo by) Woad, the 21-year-old Englishwoman and former world number one ranked amateur's victory shouldn't come as a surprise to those who have been paying attention. In early July, she won the Irish Open as an amateur and backed up that performance with a T3 finish in the Evian Masters, a major on the LPGA Tour. On a windy day at Dundonald Links in Irvine, Scotland, Woad looked unfazed as Hyo Joo Kim made an early move on the front nine with four early birdies in the first seven holes. Woad herself had a clean card on the front nine with a bogey-free 34 as she displayed a very disciplined game, often seen in more seasoned players. After Kim's hot start, she also made birdies on the 11th and 12th holes and briefly shared the lead before Woad birdied the 13th and 14th holes to regain control of the championship. Walking up the eighteenth hole, Woad laid up into the par-5 finisher before sticking a 3/4 wedge to 2 feet to seal the tournament. 'You know, everyone was chasing me today, and managed to maintain the lead and played really nicely down the stretch and hit a lot of good shots, which is nice,' Woad told the press. For her victory, the 21-year old made $300,000 and possibly more importantly, she earned status on the Ladies European Tour for the rest of this season (she also has LPGA status) which will allow her to accumulate points for next season's Solheim Cup. (Photo by) Young Players Finding Success In Professional Debuts Woad became the second player in the last three years to win her pro debut. In 2023, Rose Zhang, the american stand out from Stanford, won her pro debut at the Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National. World number one Nelly Korda, who played with Woad the first three rounds, got off to a great start making four-straight birdies on the front nine, before a bulky putter derailed her chances with a final round 71, finishing eight shots behind Woad. Woad hopped on the world stage last year as she birdied three of the final four holes to win the Augusta National Women's Amateur title. She commented that she felt more pressure there than in her professional debut in Scotland. "I think Augusta, that was the biggest tournament I played in at the time and was kind of my big win," Woad said. "So definitely felt the pressure of it more there, and I felt like all those experiences helped me with this." Women's professional golf heads to Wales next week to Royal Porthcrawl for the final major of the season, the AIG Women's Open. Lottie Woad will look to continue her stellar play as she will undoubtedly be one of the favorites to win.

Tadej Pogacar dominates Tour de France for his fourth win in six years
Theinevitability of Tadej Pogacar came to pass again Sunday as the 26-year-old Slovenian pulled on the 2025 Tour de France's final yellow jersey and lifted the trophy for the fourth time in six races. Pogacar's fourth Tour victory equals Chris Froome for the second-most of all time behind Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain and Eddy Merckx, who have five each. American Lance Armstrong won the Tour seven times, but his wins were revoked in 2012 in the wake of his infamous doping scandal.

Manchester United ready to make move for Brentford's £15m-rated target
Manchester United faced many challenges in their bid to get the Bryan Mbeumo deal over the line. It is understood Brentford changed their asking price for Mbeumo several time during negotiations. The Bees also preferred the winger to join Tottenham Hotspur or Newcastle United over United. After much frustration, United's third offer, worth an initial £65m with £6m in add-ons, was accepted last week. Now, the Red Devils might have an opportunity to return the favour by making things tricky for the London outfit in their chase for a striker. Manchester United to battle Brentford for Gueye According to The Sun, United have entered the race to sign FC Metz whizkid Idrissa Gueye, prepared to 'hijack' Brentford's bid for their priority target. Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League for Brentford. As such, his departure has left a gaping hole in their attack. Further, Yoane Wissa is also pushing to leave the Gtech Community Stadium. It is claimed new manager Keith Andrews 'feels he can put one over United chief Ruben Amorim by landing Senegalese kid Gueye.' However, the fierce competition from United has 'forced Bees chief to now look at matching his French club's £15m asking price.' The 18-year-old striker only moved to Metz from Génération Foot in January. However, his agility and finishing ability have quickly made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. While Brentford could offer a quicker route to regular Premier League football to Gueye, United 'only see him as a long-term project.' Under Ineos, the Red Devils have intensified their attempts to add up-and-coming talents to the club's ranks. Manchester United want Brentford academy director Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are 'undertaking an extensive search to find the 'best-in-class' replacement' for Nick Cox, who is set to leave the club to join Everton as their technical director. Interestingly, the Mancunians are considering the appointment of Brentford academy director Stephen Torpey to succeed Cox. Brentford appointed Torpey as their academy director in January 2024. The hierarchy at the London club would not be happy at losing him so quickly, and that too to United. Featured image Alex Livesey via Getty Images Follow us on Bluesky: @
