Apple TV renews Seth Rogen's ‘The Studio' for Season 2

The Hindu07-05-2025

Apple TV is keeping the cameras rolling on The Studio. The satire of Hollywood's inner workings has been renewed for a second season, ahead of its season one finale set for May 21.
Created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez, The Studio follows Matt Remick (played by Rogen), a clueless executive unexpectedly promoted to president of the fictional Continental Studios.
'We're thrilled to be making a second season of The Studio,' Rogen and Goldberg said. 'We're looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two… and we're excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV.'
Despite not cracking Nielsen's top 10, the series has gained critical praise for its sharp writing and inside-Hollywood references. Apple hasn't shared exact viewership numbers, but CEO Tim Cook credited The Studio as part of a slate that drove 'record viewership' in Q1, alongside hits like Severance.
The ensemble cast includes Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders, with Bryan Cranston in a recurring role. Celebrity appearances so far include Martin Scorsese, Olivia Wilde, and Charlize Theron.
Apple TV programming chief Matt Cherniss praised the team, saying, 'Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast… have knocked it out of the park… and we can't wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two.'
The Studio is produced by Lionsgate Television and Point Grey Pictures.

Chappell Roan's Enthusiastic Performance On Charlie XCX's Apple Song Is Viral

Last Updated: Chappell Roan was dressed in a black top, layered with a beige sweatshirt and a grey skirt. She danced to the song Apple as if no one was watching and even perfected the lyrics. Charlie XCX had an unexpected guest for her slot at the Primavera Sound on Thursday, June 5. The music festival is celebrated annually in Barcelona, Spain. This year, on its opening day, singer Chappell Roan lit up the venue with her sensational moves to the song Apple. The track was a part of Charlie XCX's sixth studio album, Brat, released through Atlantic Records last year. A video of Chappell dancing joyfully to the tunes of this foot-tapping chartbuster was posted by the official Instagram handle of Primavera Sound. The clip shows Chappell Roan putting on a pair of white-framed, quirky-looking sunglasses before shaking a leg to the Apple track. She does not miss a beat, grooving to the upbeat number and flashing a beaming smile. Chapell is joined by some of her friends as well. Her performance was a part of the ritual in Charlie XCX's concerts, where special star guests perform to the choreographed dance number. Over the years, artists like BLACKPINK's Rose, singer Clairo, musician Dave Grohl, his daughter Harper, Cara Delevingne, Glen Powell, Stephen Colbert, Kerry Washington, Ashley Tisdale, Joe Jonas and Jessica Alba, among others, have also undertaken the challenge. According to Billboard, the choreography was created by TikToker Kelley Heyer. Chappell Roan was dressed in a black top, layered with a beige sweatshirt and a grey skirt. She lip-synced to the lyrics, 'I think the apple's rotten right to the core/ From all the things passed down/ From all the apples coming before", which went viral on TikTok. Soon after, Charlie XCX introduced Chappell to the crowd, saying, 'Make some f***ing noise right now!" After Chappell wrapped up her sizzling performance, Charlie told her, 'Chappell, I f***ing love you." The side note read, 'Your favourite Apple Girl's favourite Apple Girl." Chappell Roan is also set to perform at the European music extravaganza today, June 7. The lineup also included artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Beabadoobee, Waxahatchee, Jamie xx, La Casa Azul, HAIM, Aminé, MJ Lenderman, Judeline, Kim Deal and Stereolab, to name a few. The Primavera Sound music festival will conclude on Sunday, June 8. First Published:

‘Shah Rukh Khan is probably the one I know the most and really enjoy working with': Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos

It's no surprise that Shah Rukh Khan is a great host. Members of the film industry, from budding actors to seasoned filmmakers, have often heaped praises on how special Shah Rukh makes one feel at home despite his towering stature. A recent addition to this list of Shah Rukh Khan admirers is Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos. When asked if he has a favourite creator in India, Sarandos clarified that he works with so many that it's unfair to pick one, just like you can't pick your favourite child from all your babies. 'But I have to tell you, early in coming to India, I met Shah Rukh Khan right away. He hosted a very nice little dinner for me, and we just hit it off immediately,' revealed Sarandos. He added on Nikhil Kamath's podcast how he and his wife have had 'nice times together' with Shah Rukh Khan whenever they've visited India hence. 'We visited each other in Los Angeles when his son was in school. So having dinner with Shah Rukh Khan in India is much different than having dinner with him in Los Angeles. I'd say that's probably someone I know the most and really enjoy working with,' added Sarandos. Shah Rukh Khan's elder son Aryan Khan studied fine arts in film and television production at the University of South Carolina in Los Angeles. He graduated back in 2020. Aryan will now make his debut as the creator, writer, director, and showrunner of the show The B***ds of Bollywood, which is produced by his father's banner Red Chillies Entertainment, and will stream on Netflix India this year. 'I've watched the first two episodes so far. It's very funny. I think people in India and people outside of India know nothing about the inner workings of Bollywood. So it's a really fun world. He's (Aryan) a very good director,' said Sarandos on The B***ds of Bollywood. While the details of the cast of the show is kept under wraps, its synopsis on Netflix states: 'In this high-stakes drama, an ambitious outsider and his friends navigate the chaotic, larger-than-life, yet uncertain world of Bollywood.' Also Read: Will Aryan Khan's show The Ba***ds of Bollywood be to India what Seth Rogen's The Studio is to Hollywood? The B***ds of Bollywood isn't Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment's first collaboration with Netflix India. Previously, they've teamed up on Ribhu Dasgupta's 2019 spy thriller show Bard of Blood, starring Emraan Hashmi, Kriti Kulhari and Vineet Kumar Singh, and Patrick Graham's 2020 zombie horror show Betaal, starring Singh and Aahana Kumra.
