In the wake of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash , Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has alleged a potential foreign conspiracy, raising concerns over foreign involvement in India's aviation sector.Speaking to reporters, Ramdev raised suspicion that a Turkish agency was responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the ill-fated aircraft. He hinted that the crash may not have been purely accidental.'I got to know that an agency from Turkiye used to take care of the maintenance and service of the aircraft,' he said.'India will have to keep a close eye on the aviation sector. There is a possibility of a conspiracy by that agency. India must stop the interference of foreign companies in such sensitive matters.'While Ramdev did not provide evidence to support his claims, his remarks come amid growing scrutiny over aviation safety and maintenance protocols following the incident. Adani Airport Holdings had terminated the ground handling concession agreements with Turkish firm Celebi for the Mumbai and Ahmedabad airports.The decision came after Central government revoked the security clearance of Turkish ground-handling company Celebi NAS Airport Services, citing national security concerns."Following the Government of India's decision to revoke Celebi's security clearance, we have terminated the ground handling concession agreements with Celebi at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) and Ahmedabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA). Accordingly, Celebi has been directed to immediately hand over to us all ground handling facilities to ensure uninterrupted operations," Spokespersons, Mumbai & Ahmedabad Airports said in a statement.Earlier, news agency PTI also reported that Air India planning to scale back the number of wide-body aircraft it sends to Turkish Technic for heavy maintenance, in light of recent geopolitical developments involving Turkiye's support for Pakistan and condemnation of India's strikes on terror camps.CEO Campbell Wilson said the airline is sensitive to national sentiment and will recalibrate its maintenance strategy accordingly. RPSC releases admit cards for RAS Mains 2024
Ajmer: The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) issued admit cards Saturday for the RAS Mains 2024, confirming the examination dates as June 17 and 18. This decision finalises the schedule despite protests by candidates in Jaipur who demanded the exam be postponed until after the declaration of the RAS 2023 results. RPSC is ready to conduct the exams at 48 centres in Jaipur and 29 in Ajmer for 21,539 candidates who cleared the RAS Preliminary Exam 2024. An official source from RPSC stated, "We are going as per the schedule and are prepared to conduct the exam on the timetable given before." Another source added, "As the new chairman of the RPSC, Utkal Ranjan Sahoo, took charge recently, it would not send the right message to postpone the first exam conducted under his chairmanship." A third source mentioned, "The state govt has not recommended anything in this matter; therefore, the exam will proceed as scheduled, and admit cards have already been issued. " Meanwhile, candidates who presented a memorandum to the RPSC before protesting in Jaipur stated that many who cleared the RAS Preliminary 2024 are appearing for interviews of RAS 2023 and are demanding that the RAS Mains be conducted after the RAS 2023 results are declared. RPSC secretary Ramniwas Mehta said that despite the protest, 20,000 admit cards were download on first day out of the odd 21,500. Slew of complaints in gold investment scam
Thiruvananthapuram: Fort police, probing the gold fraud linked to Al Muqtadir Gold and Diamond Jewelry, received over a hundred complaints in the past 24 hours. While police began registering cases, some of the complainants later withdrew their complaints after the jewellery representatives promised to return the deposited gold or money, said Fort police. The overall number of cases registered in the fraud case is 18. Most complainants said they were drawn in by repeated ads in mainstream newspapers. "When gold was offered without making charges, we saw it as a good investment. They also offered schemes like exchanging old ornaments for new ones, or monthly returns for depositing gold for a fixed term. After maturity, they promised to return the original gold. There were also deposit schemes where money could be paid in instalments to get gold at a discount — none of these promises were kept," said Laila S, one of the complainants. Sabeena Beevi, 48, of Kazhakkoottam, deposited 131 grams of gold for 11 months, expecting new ornaments for her daughter's wedding — but received neither. The police found that the firm hired hundreds of agents on commission to attract investors. Many of them are now being added as accused. On Saturday, three people, Gulzar Seth, Soubin, and Jasim were named. The owner Muhammed Mansoor Abdulsalam and six others were added earlier. Eviction ignored: Scam accused still control Kinfra unit
T'puram: The accused in the Nirmal Krishna deposit fraud maintain control of a garment factory on a 50-cent plot in Kinfra, defying eviction orders from both the Buds authority and home department. These directives mandated the property's return to its legitimate owner and the transfer of lease premium to the Buds authority through revenue recovery. The 54,000 sq ft factory and land legally belong to Usha Umesh, an entrepreneur, from whom the accused acquired the property through Kinfra's tacit approval, violating established protocols. Kinfra transferred the land to Kanyakumari Exports Private Ltd, owned by fraud accused K Nirmalan, without proper documentation. Nirmalan subsequently transferred it to Sreejith, another accused and his alleged benami. The property currently generates Rs 6 lakh monthly in rent. Umesh, the rightful owner, attempted to access the factory on Thursday, armed with favourable orders from the home department, Buds authority and district collector. However, Kinfra denied her entry while allowing the accused to continue operations. "When I tried to enter, they demanded proof of ownership.
