Gunman on loose as dad, 50, killed in drive-by shooting outside pizza takeaway – as heartbroken daughters pay tribute
Dale Stogden, known as Brett, was shot dead in Wakefield on Tuesday night.
He was gunned down outside a local pizza takeaway at around 9.43pm.
It is believed the fatal shots were fired from a Toyota RAV4 car, which was found abandoned on Wednesday.
West Yorkshire Police have since arrested three men aged 19, 20 and 27 on suspicion of murder.
They were detained this afternoon at properties in Ossett and the Lupset area.
Brett's heartbroken daughters have paid tribute to their father in a statement released by the police.
"We are in complete shock at the loss of our dad in such horrific violent circumstances," it read.
"We will miss him, and our breakfast get togethers. We will miss his big smile.
"Dad, we hope you are no longer in pain and that you can rest in peace. We will always love and miss you.
"We would like to ask the person who took our dad's life so cruelly, please hand yourself in then we can have some closure and lay him to rest."
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team who is leading the investigation said: 'We are determined to get answers for Brett's family and ensure that those involved in this senseless crime are brought to justice.
'I would like to extend my thanks again to those who have already provided information to assist this investigation. I would like to reassure you that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes and all available lines of enquiry are being followed up.
'We are continuing to appeal to any motorists who were in the Doncaster Road area of Wakefield between 9.30pm and 9.45pm to check dashcam footage.
'From our enquiries, we believe the vehicle used in this incident, the Toyota RAV4, was abandoned in Dunbar Street in the immediate aftermath of the shooting so again we are keen to speak to any motorists or others in the area who has seen anyone in the street from around 9:40pm that night.'
A spokesperson for the force said: "Three men have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Brett Stogden in Wakefield.
"All three men have been arrested this afternoon. They are aged 19, 20 and 27, and are all from the Wakefield area.
"They are currently in police custody.
"They were arrested from addresses in Ossett and the Lupset area of Wakefield."

Boy, 2, dies after car hits pedestrians in Whitstable

Protesters gather outside Canary Wharf asylum hotel in fresh anti-migrant demonstrations after resident 'entered blind woman's flat'
Protesters have gathered outside a hotel housing asylum seekers in Canary Wharf today amid fresh ant-migrant demonstrations. The Britannia International Hotel in London is being used to accommodate hundreds of asylum seekers. It has been the subject of several chaotic protests in recent weeks, after Tower Hamlets Council confirmed it was handed over to the Home Office to house migrants. Today, police officers were deployed around the area as the protest kicked off outside. The group of men and women were ordered to remain on the pavement opposite the hotel. Photos from the event show demonstrators carrying England flags, signs reading 'stop the boats' and coloured smoke flares. Several men - one of them masked and topless - were seen being detained by police following a string of arrests made in recent weeks. This month, a young woman tried to storm the migrant hotel with a meat cleaver after she found an asylum seeker in her mother's flat 'moving his hands over his groin', a court heard. She found the man 'moving his hand' over his genital area, Ms Augustus's lawyer Emma Clements told Thames Magistrates' Court. After chasing him away, she is alleged to have gone to the hotel at around 6pm where she confronted a security guard who was trying her calm her down. She returned with a meat cleaver and started banging it on a metal barrier outside the hotel and shouted 'f****** asylum seekers', the court heard. Channay Augustus, 22, is accused of being part of a group of around 20 people who tried to barge into the Britannia Hotel. Augustus, of Tower Hamlets, was remanded into custody to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 12. Today, hundreds also gathered in the Northumberland town of Ashington to protest against 'illegal immigrants' in the area. The demonstration was shared by the Facebook page 'British Unity', with organisers claiming the aim was to have their concerns about safety in the town recognised by the Government. Protesters who met at 12pm called for the removal of 'illegal-immigrants' in the area, and demanded a stop to 'housing them for our children's future'. A police presence was in attendance at the protest as demonstrators also called for 'mass deportations' and to 'stop the boats'.
