Shell Egypt underscores commitment to Egypt's energy future at EGYPES 2025
Shell Egypt will participate as a partner in the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2025, the largest energy conference and exhibition across Egypt, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. The conference, held under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, will take place from February 17-19.
Shell's global leadership, including Ivan Tan, Executive Vice President for Development, Subsurface and Wells, and Suzanne Coogan, Vice President of Heartland Exploration and Namibia, will attend. They will emphasise the company's commitment to upstream growth, capacity building, and diversity and inclusion (D&I). Shell will have a presence at panel discussions and host an interactive booth for its entrepreneurship programme, Intilaaqah. The company aims to highlight its role in advancing Egypt's energy landscape and fostering industry collaboration.

Through our participation in high-impact panels, the recognition of talent through the EGYPES Awards, and our engagement with youth through our NXplorers and Intilaaqah social investment programmes, we aim to demonstrate our holistic approach to creating long-term value for Egypt's energy industry.'
Shell executives will participate in key discussions at the EGYPES 2025 Strategic Conference. Tan will explore how gas can support energy-hungry nations and industries. Coogan will highlight the potential of Africa's natural gas in driving energy security and export markets. Omneya Abdellatif, Managing Counsel for LNG and Head of Legal at Shell Egypt, will contribute to a discussion about LNG market dynamics in the region. Wafaa El Ashry, Shell Egypt HR Manager, will advise on how oil and gas companies' branding strategies can maximise energy talent acquisition and retention.
Shell will also celebrate young innovators through the NXplorers Awards Ceremony, showcasing student-led solutions addressing energy sustainability challenges.
Shell will host an interactive Intilaaqah booth throughout EGYPES 2025. The programme has nurtured thousands of youths and contributed to the establishment and scaling of approximately 200 start-ups over the past two decades. The booth will provide information about Shell's initiatives in skill development and business incubation.
Shell anticipates engaging with government leaders, industry stakeholders, and future talent at EGYPES 2025, contributing to discussions shaping the future of Egypt's energy landscape.

CAPMAS: Egypt's Exports to UAE Jump 46.9%
Taarek Refaat The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced that Egyptian exports to the UAE rose to $3.3 billion in 2024, compared to $2.2 billion, year-on-year, a 46.9% increase. CAPMAS added that trade exchange between Egypt and the UAE also reached $6 billion during the same year. In a statement issued on the occasion of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Abu Dhabi Wednesday, the agency explained that Egyptian exports to the UAE increased to $3.3 billion in 2024, compared to $2.2 billion, a year earlier, with a 46.9% increase. While Egyptian imports from the UAE reached $2.7 billion in 2024, compared to $2.3 billion in 2023, a 16.8% increase. The agency's data also showed that the value of trade between Egypt and the UAE increased to $6 billion in 2024, compared to $4.5 billion in 2023, a 31.6% increase. The value of Emirati investments in Egypt reached $38.9 billion in the 2023/24 fiscal year, compared to $3 billion in the 2022/23 fiscal year. Meanwhile, the value of Egyptian investments in the UAE reached $1.4 billion in the 2023/24 fiscal year, compared to $1.7 billion in the 2022/23 fiscal year. The value of remittances from Egyptians working in the UAE reached $1.8 billion during the FY2023/24 compared to $2.1 billion during the FY2022/23. Meanwhile, the value of remittances from Emiratis working in Egypt reached $31.6 million during the FYFY2022/23. Egypt's population reached 107.7 million in June 2025, while the UAE's population reached 11.3 million during the same period. UAE President Lauds Egypt's Role in Gaza Ceasefire Efforts
H-Tayea President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, welcomed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday at Abu Dhabi International Airport, ahead of high-level talks aimed at reinforcing strategic cooperation between the two nations. Following an official reception, the two leaders proceeded to Al Shati Palace, where they held a comprehensive bilateral meeting focused on enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations. The discussions underscored the shared commitment of Egypt and the UAE to deepening collaboration across key sectors in line with the aspirations of their respective peoples. According to Ambassador Mohamed El Shennawy, Spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, the leaders also exchanged views on pressing regional developments, particularly the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Both presidents reaffirmed the urgent need for a ceasefire, the release of detainees, and increased humanitarian access to the Palestinian enclave. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed commended Egypt's sustained diplomatic efforts since the outset of the Gaza crisis, especially its role in mediation aimed at securing a ceasefire and easing the suffering of civilians in the region. Egypt looks forward to establishing American industrial zone in Suez Canal: Sisi
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Monday received a delegation of US businessmen participating in the Egyptian-US Economic Forum held in Cairo. The President expressed Egypt's readiness to cooperate with the US business community and investors in all economic fields of mutual interest, in light of US President Trump's support towards enhancing cooperation between Egyptian and American companies. Sisi affirmed that Egypt looks forward to establishing a US industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and emphasized that the country is ready to provide all the necessary facilities to American investors. The delegation was headed by CEO and President of the US Chamber of Commerce Suzanne Clark, and the Chairman of the US-Egypt Business Council and CEO of Apache Corporation John Christmann. The Spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed al-Shennawy, said the President first met with Clark and Christmann before being joined by the members of the delegation. President Sisi noted that investing in Egypt is a promising opportunity for any investor, as it enjoys both political and societal stability based on the awareness of citizens and their resilience in enduring the major and harsh economic reforms that were implemented to achieve public interest, especially in light of regional disturbances. Egypt is looking forward to becoming a major industrial hub for American industries, and seeks to also serve as a large market and gateway to the Arab region and the African continent, owing to the strong ties Egypt shares with the continent's countries. Fruitful US cooperation Clark noted that the delegation's visit to Egypt confirms the strength and solidity of the strategic alliance between Egypt and the USA. She explained that American companies operating in Egypt have achieved significant successes and contributed to the development process in Egypt, and are considered a model to be emulated in the success of cooperation between the two countries, similar to the Apache Corporation. This was highly valued by President Sisi, who expressed his appreciation for the success of Apache's business in Egypt and the expansion of its scope of work. The meeting was also attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel al-Wazir, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania al-Mashat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan al-Khatib.
