'I cannot believe supporters are doing this'

BBC News12-05-2025

The fallout to the boos for Trent Alexander-Arnold continues, with the situation a big talking point on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast. There has - no doubt - been negative reaction and feeling towards the right-back since he announced he was leaving last week, but not many people would have predicted the atmosphere he was subjected to at Anfield. The full-back was booed in the line-up announcement, again when he entered as a substitute in the second-half and it continued when he was on the ball. While some fans chose to applaud him on the ball in retaliation to those booing, there were also chants of "there's only one Conor Bradley" which were undoubtedly used in a manner to drive a point home to the departing Alexander-Arnold."I cannot say how fans should be feeling, but I am shocked," said The Telegraph's Luke Edwards. "If he was going to be joining another club in the Premier League then I would understand it more but he looks to be going abroad."He has given 20 years to the club. Yes, he has ran down his contract and he is leaving for free but he also cost nothing to sign."He's a Liverpool fan with a mural made just for him. I get the feelings of betrayal and anger but it does feel like an overreaction."The fact there were so many boos from match-going fans genuinely shocked me. I thought it was more confined to social media but it isn't so he has obviously stirred up a lot of negative emotions."Former Premier League midfielder Michael Brown added: "He has given them everything and they have won the league this season so he couldn't have left them in any better position."It is a terrible situation for a wonderful young player to have that. How does he feel? "I am so disappointed because it is not an easy decision for him to leave. He has an opportunity to go and test himself so I do not get it."They have a nice replacement straight away in Conor Bradley but it shouldn't have been about him. Other players have had farewell banners and messages of 'sorry you are leaving.'"I cannot believe that supporters are doing this."Listen to the Football Daily podcast on BBC Sounds

He loved nothing more than being out on the sea with his boat and enjoying a good beer' Fans were quick to flood the comments with messages of support and pass on their love to Duncan, his mum and the rest of their family Despite the pair meeting in November 2018, it wasn't until April 2019 when their 'journey officially began'. In a poignant video shared to his Instagram a song called 'meu abrigo' could be heard playing over the top. Duncan explained that translated to English it means 'my shelter', and conveys love and protection and being there for one another through life's challenges, which he said reflected their relationship perfectly. To celebrate, the singer planned a getaway to a hotel in London, where he surprised the flight attendant with a room full of balloons, banners and cake. Duncan also into a new home and kicked off an arena tour with Blue who are supporting Olly Murs, as well as a holiday to New York. Earlier this year he also celebrated his daughter Tianie's 20th birthday. Victoria Beckham and daughter Harper enjoy girls' night out at the ballet after Posh shared gushing tribute to her 'knight in shining armour' Sir David

Victoria Beckham and her daughter Harper looked glamorous for a girls' night out at the ballet, a day after David finally got a knighthood. Posh Spice, 51 - who became Lady Beckham as her husband led the King's Birthday Honours list - attended the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ballet in London with her daughter, 13, on Friday. Calling the occasion a 'special night', Victoria and Harper posed for a photo from their box at the Royal Ballet & Opera house which the mother-of-five shared to her Instagram Stories. The former Spice Girl cut a stylish figure for the evening in a grey skirt and a black top layered with a co-ordinated blazer, while Harper looked glamorous in a pink dress. Victoria seemed elated to be spending some one-on-one time with her daughter, captioning the post: 'Special night at the ballet. I love you Harper.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Victoria's night at the ballet came hours after she shared a gushing tribute to her husband of 25 years Sir David following his knighthood. The former England captain, 50, proudly led in the King's Birthday Honours list after being in the running for more than a decade. Congratulating her husband, Victoria shared a loved-up photo to Instagram and wrote: 'You've always been my knight in shining armour, but now it's official. Sir David!!! What an honour, I couldn't be prouder of you. 'Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered. 'The way you've touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday.' She concluded: 'But above all else, I'm so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx' David declared himself 'immensely proud' as he finally received a knighthood after years of being snubbed. He said he 'never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour', as his Spice Girl wife Victoria also becomes Lady Beckham. The former England football captain previously missed out when a 'red flag' from the taxman blocked him becoming a Sir in 2014. Leaked emails suggested he had savaged the nominations committee as 'unappreciative c***s' and branded their decision 'a disgrace, to be honest', although his office subsequently insisted they had been doctored by a hacker. But that was all behind him today as Sir David proudly led the King's Birthday Honours list recognising 1,200 people from community champions to cultural icons. The day before Sir David was given the honour, he was seen chatting with the King at a St James's Palace ceremony for the monarch's foundation, of which the retired footballer is an ambassador. He has been made a knight for his services to sport and to charity. He said: 'Growing up in East London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British I never could have imagined I would receive such a truly humbling honour.' David added: 'To have played for and captained my country was the greatest privilege of my career and literally a boyhood dream come true.' He said that, off the pitch, his charity work 'gives me so much fulfilment', and added: 'It will take a little while for the news to sink in but I'm immensely proud and it's such an emotional moment for me to share with my family.' He has been made a knight for his services to sport and to charity, having partnered with Unicef and campaigned with Malaria No More, a charity working to eradicate the disease. Sir David was made an OBE in 2003 and has been in the running for a knighthood for more than a decade.

Jade Thirwall celebrates five years with her Rizzle Kicks boyfriend Jordan Stephens as she shares loved-up tribute

Jade Thirlwall celebrated five years with Jordan Stephens by posting a heart-warming tribute to her partner on TikTok. The former Little Mix star, 32, and her Rizzle Kicks rapper boyfriend, 32, first sparked a romance after he asked a mutual friend to set them up back in 2019. Jade then took matters into her own hands, dropping Jordan a DM on Instagram asking for his 'pitch'. A few Zoom dates later the smitten couple were making their first public appearance together at a July 2020 Black Trans Lives Matter rally where they were pictured arm-in-arm. Five years on and the couple are still going strong - with Jade and Jordan appearing as loved-up as ever as she shared a gushing tribute to him on their anniversary. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. As their dog scurried past the camera, the video posted on TikTok showed a pyjama-clad Jade surprising her boyfriend in bed with a bunch of flowers and balloons to mark the special day. The post then cut to a compilation of Jade's favourite videos of Jordan, including smitten clips of the couple recording music, dancing and goofing around together. The spark seems very much still alive between the couple, who appeared completely smitten as they celebrated their milestone. A host of fans took to the comments section to congratulate their 'favourite couple' on five years together. They wrote: 'Happy anniversary to my favourite chaotic couple love you', 'I'm so happy for you both! It's been such a privilege to witness your relationship and love for each other! Thank you for giving us these glimpses into your life', 'This man is just a walking green flag I love that for you! He just gets it how humans are supposed to be', 'Couple goals. Fully supporting each other without the need to justify yourselves. Beautiful. A couple like no other.' While one amusingly commented: 'Oh man I feel so single.' Jade scored her first BRIT award as a solo artist earlier this year during the 2025 ceremony at the 02 arena. The former Little Mix singer couldn't wipe the smile off her face after beating the likes of Charli XCX to be crowned Best Pop Act at the ceremony in March. As her name was read out, the singer gasped in shock before excitedly making her way to the stage, where she amusingly struggled to climb the stairs onto the platform. Accepting the award, she gushed: 'Oh my God! This is my first solo BRIT Award! I can't cry because I've got to sing later, but I did do a little piece of paper in case I won the award. I know it's cringe but I knew I'd forget people. I'm flustered.' After the awards show, Jade and Jordan were pictured packing on the PDA as they shared a steamy kiss on the red carpet. A matter of weeks later Jordan - who said he 'enjoyed' meeting his now-girlfriend during lockdown - opened up about the dynamic of his relationship with Jade. Speaking on the We Need to Talk podcast with Paul Carrick, the 34-year-old said: 'My girlfriend earns more money than me. 'She's super successful and I f****** love it.' After being asked whether it's 'emasculating' have such a success girlfriend, he replied: 'It's reflected in the fact that I talk positively about Jade's career. They get shared loads. 'I've actually had a lot of personal texts from people who have been in situations where their partner, usually male partner has struggled with their success, or they felt emasculated by their success. 'Whereas for me, she's my superstar and I'm her superstar.'
