In Viral Videos, 10-Yr-Old Narrates Encounter With Terrorists In Pahalgam. 'But Should Children Be Interviewed?'
In one of the videos, Naksh can be covered by over 10 mics. As he maintains his calm, while looking troubled intermittently, media asks him if he would visit Pahalgam again.
Videos of a 10-year-old child, whose father was killed in Tuesday's Kashmir terror attack, has flooded the internet as netizens keep ' all eyes on Pahalgam '. While some have been hailing the child for asking 'tougher questions than even the media", others have expressed their uneasiness over reporters hounding a minor and 'a child talking about religions".
The 10-year-old is Naksh Kalathiya, son of Shailesh Kalathiya — 44-year-old manager at the State Bank of India branch in Mumbai. Shailesh had gone on a holiday with his wife and two children along with a colleague's family when he was shot dead on Tuesday.
Since then several media persons have reached out to the family to help the nation know the horrific details of the ruthless attack.
In one of the videos, Naksh can be seen covered by over 10 mics. As he maintains his calm, while looking troubled intermittently, media asks him if he would visit Pahalgam again. To this, the 10-year-old says 'no". He also questioned why no one was aware of terrorist activities when 'Army personnel are stationed in the town".
This 35-second clip, which has over 96,000 views and has been reshared over 74,000 times, had some comments slamming the media.
'For God's sake give this child a break! Damn! (sic)," wrote user @smartmaxidegens. Another user, @gann_trading, said, 'Spare the child… he is lost in his feelings, remembering his father…"
A third user, @SummerMerin, wrote, 'The child has lost his Dad, why traumatize him now, asking questions in media glare N exposing him, he's so young, have a heart, let him grieve."
In another interview, with news agency ANI, the 10-year-old Surat resident said that he heard on of the terrorists ordering other gunmen to 'separate men into Muslims and Hindus". They then shot all Hindu men, the boy added.
'We were at the 'mini Switzerland' point in Pahalgam when we heard gunshots. We hid once we realised that terrorists had entered the area. But, they found us. We saw two terrorists. I heard one of them ordered all the men to separate into Muslims and Hindus, and then shot all the Hindu men," Naksh said.
He further recalled that the terrorists asked 'men to recite ' Kalma ' three times". 'And all those who couldn't were shot dead," Naksh said.
'Once the terrorists left, the locals came and said that all those who had survived should go downhill immediately. The army arrived an hour or so after we climbed down from the point… The terrorists were not letting him (my father) speak at all…They did not say anything (to my mother)…One of the terrorists was fair and had a beard. He had a camera tied to his head…They spared the women and the children…," the 10-year-old narrated.

According to a report in Indian Express, Shital demanded justice and criticised the government for 'not providing security to tourists".
'What kind of government do we have? You are defaming Kashmir, but there is no problem with Kashmir—the problem is with our government's security arrangements."— Wife of Surat's Shailesh Kalthia, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack pic.twitter.com/66i8wUVfTe

Delhi HC rejects Shabir Ahmed Shah's bail plea in NIA case
New Delhi [India], June 12 ( ANI): The Delhi High Court denied bail on Thursday to Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah. He is in judicial custody in a terror funding case lodged by the NIA in 2017. The high court has dismissed his appeal. In 2023, the trial court had dismissed his earlier bail application. The division bench of Justices Navin Chawla and Shalinder Kaur dismissed the appeal. The detailed order will be uploaded later in the day by the High Court. He had moved to the High Court against an order of a special NIA court denying bail. It was submitted that there were 24 cases against him. In 18 cases, he has been charge-sheeted, three cases have been dismissed, and three cases are pending investigation. Senior advocate Collin Gonsalves appeared for the petitioner Shah. He moved to the High Court in 2023. The trial court dismissed his earlier bail plea on July 7, 2023. Earlier in 2023, a notice was issued to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He has sought bail in a terror funding case lodged by the NIA in 2017 against various separatist leaders of Jammu and Kashmir The counsel for the petitioner has submitted that it is a fresh bail application. He has been in custody since 2017, and the charge sheet has been filed against him. It was submitted that the trial court judge erroneously declined to grant bail to the appellant herein by observing that, given the bar under Section 43D(5) of UAPA and there being a prima facie case established at the point of framing charges, the appellant could not be granted bail. It was also submitted that the trial Court ignored the complete lack of material against the appellant, the prolonged period of custody undergone, and the fact that no criminality for the commission of the offence is assigned to the appellant. Not a single criminal act can be attributed to the appellant. It was further submitted that the Appellant is a reputed political leader in Kashmir, having founded the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in 1998 with the objectives of seeking the cooperation of people from within and outside the state, inculcating brotherhood, friendship, and goodwill, cultivating religious tolerance, regional and ethnic cooperation, and interaction. The plea said that the appellant finds no mention in the main chargesheet and the first supplementary chargesheet where all the aforementioned allegations have been stated, and the Investigation Agency has shown the offences that allegedly occurred due to the said conspiracy. The Investigation agency has, in fact, gone on to show the interlinkage between the accused person's charge sheet, where again the appellant finds no mention, the plea said. The FIR that was registered owing to the alleged conspiracy and the investigation showing the execution of the conspiracy in the main chargesheet by the accused persons admittedly does not find mention of accused Shabir Shah or his connivance in such conspiracy or any interlinkage insofar as the conspiracy or execution of the conspiracy is concerned. It is also submitted that the Appellant has only been included in the 2nd supplementary chargesheet and was arrested in pursuance of the same on 04.06.2019. The plea has stated that the Appellant has been incarcerated for over 4 years in the present FIR and intermittently for 35 years in different prisons in Kashmir and the country apart from being under house arrest for a substantial period, without a single conviction or charge against him. On May 30, 2017, NIA registered a case against 12 accused persons for alleged conspiracy to raise and collect funds for causing disruption by way of pelting stones, damaging public property, and thereby conspiring to wage war against the government of India. The appellant was arrested on June 4, 2019. In October 4, 2019, a Second Supplementary chargesheet was filed, and the appellant was included as an accused along with others. The allegations against the appellant included him playing a key role in building a separatist/militant movement in Jammu and Kashmir, inciting and instigating masses to shout slogans for secession of Jammu and Kashmir, paying tribute to family of slain terrorists, receiving money through hawala transactions, and raising funds through LOC trade which were used to fuel subversive and militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir. It is alleged that on 26.02.2019, his house was searched and a lot of incriminating material, including documents and electronic items, was seized from his house. Since the formation of JKDFP, the accused Shabir Ahmad became the mouthpiece of Pak ISI, which had been handling him through his Pak/POK-based representative Mehmood Ahmed Sagar. It is further alleged that the scrutiny of CDs recovered from his house has revealed numerous wherein accused Shabir Shah instances had made inflammatory speeches at several locations such as Kishtwar, Bhadarwa, Anantnag, Kargil, Poonch etc instigating the masses to shout slogans for secession of Jammu and Kashmir from the Union of India and created surcharged atmosphere against Government of India that people started pelting stones on the security forces. Investigation has also revealed that the accused Shabir Shah was in touch with Pak/POK-based militant leadership, including Syed Salahuddin and Hafiz Mohd. Saeed and Iftikar Haidar Rana, the trial court had noted in the order of July 7, 2023. It is further alleged that the accused Shabir Shah was duly supported by Pakistani agencies through the Hurriyat. Representatives such as Shafi Shair and Mehmood Sagar are based in Pakistan. (ANI)

Case registered against influencer Kalpika Ganesh following alleged misconduct at Hyderabad restaurant
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 12 (ANI): Social media influencer and actress Kalpika Ganesh has been booked by the Gachibowli police in connection with an alleged altercation at a prominent Hyderabad restaurant, Odeum by Prism. The incident, which took place on May 29, came to public attention after videos capturing the episode went viral on social media platforms. As per the First Information Report (FIR), a formal complaint was submitted by Deepak Bajaj (38), Managing Partner of Prism Club & Kitchen, on June 6, 2025, outlining a series of disruptive actions allegedly committed by Ganesh during her visit to the venue. According to the complaint, Ganesh, accompanied by a male guest, dined at the restaurant and consumed ₹ 2,200 worth of food and beverages. At the time of billing, around 11:30 pm, she allegedly demanded that the dessert, a cheesecake, be offered complimentary. Though the management extended a gesture of goodwill by offering a brownie instead, the complainant alleged that Ganesh refused to settle the bill, became aggressive, and verbally abused the Deputy General Manager and General Manager, including derogatory and body-shaming remarks. The situation reportedly escalated when Ganesh threw the brownie plate, causing disturbances on the premises. The FIR further states that she went live on Instagram, declaring she was doing it for her followers, and subsequently made false accusations of rape and molestation on social media. Kalpika Ganesh has also shared a video of the incident on her Instagram handle. The complaint also noted that even in the presence of police officers, Ganesh allegedly continued her disruptive behaviour, refused to cooperate, and verbally abused the personnel. Management claimed that the episode led to reputational harm to both the establishment and its staff, as well as property damage, verbal and physical abuse, false public narratives, and personal defamation involving staff families. Supporting evidence cited includes CCTV footage, videos recorded by staff and guests, and witness testimonies. While the management initially delayed complaining to avoid escalation, the persistent nature of the alleged online provocations prompted legal action. The matter was entered into the General Diary on June 6, and a request was made before the Honourable Court for permission to register a case formally. Upon receiving approval, a case was registered on June 10, 2025, under sections 324(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been assigned to WSI Akshitha, under the supervision of Inspector Anil Kumar, Gachibowli Police Station. (ANI)
