In Viral Videos, 10-Yr-Old Narrates Encounter With Terrorists In Pahalgam. 'But Should Children Be Interviewed?'

Videos of a 10-year-old child, whose father was killed in Tuesday's Kashmir terror attack, has flooded the internet as netizens keep ' all eyes on Pahalgam '. While some have been hailing the child for asking 'tougher questions than even the media", others have expressed their uneasiness over reporters hounding a minor and 'a child talking about religions". The 10-year-old is Naksh Kalathiya, son of Shailesh Kalathiya — 44-year-old manager at the State Bank of India branch in Mumbai. Shailesh had gone on a holiday with his wife and two children along with a colleague's family when he was shot dead on Tuesday. Since then several media persons have reached out to the family to help the nation know the horrific details of the ruthless attack. In one of the videos, Naksh can be seen covered by over 10 mics. As he maintains his calm, while looking troubled intermittently, media asks him if he would visit Pahalgam again. To this, the 10-year-old says 'no". He also questioned why no one was aware of terrorist activities when 'Army personnel are stationed in the town". This 35-second clip, which has over 96,000 views and has been reshared over 74,000 times, had some comments slamming the media. 'For God's sake give this child a break! Damn! (sic)," wrote user @smartmaxidegens. Another user, @gann_trading, said, 'Spare the child… he is lost in his feelings, remembering his father…" A third user, @SummerMerin, wrote, 'The child has lost his Dad, why traumatize him now, asking questions in media glare N exposing him, he's so young, have a heart, let him grieve." In another interview, with news agency ANI, the 10-year-old Surat resident said that he heard on of the terrorists ordering other gunmen to 'separate men into Muslims and Hindus". They then shot all Hindu men, the boy added. 'We were at the 'mini Switzerland' point in Pahalgam when we heard gunshots. We hid once we realised that terrorists had entered the area. But, they found us. We saw two terrorists. I heard one of them ordered all the men to separate into Muslims and Hindus, and then shot all the Hindu men," Naksh said. He further recalled that the terrorists asked 'men to recite ' Kalma ' three times". 'And all those who couldn't were shot dead," Naksh said. 'Once the terrorists left, the locals came and said that all those who had survived should go downhill immediately. The army arrived an hour or so after we climbed down from the point… The terrorists were not letting him (my father) speak at all…They did not say anything (to my mother)…One of the terrorists was fair and had a beard. He had a camera tied to his head…They spared the women and the children…," the 10-year-old narrated. Some netizens raised objections to this interview as well: Pahalgam Victim Shailesh Kalathiya's Bursts Out At Minister Meanwhile, Naksh's mother, Shital Kalathiya, reportedly burst out at Union Jal Shakti minister C R Paatil who came to pay homage at the funeral on Thursday. According to a report in Indian Express, Shital demanded justice and criticised the government for 'not providing security to tourists". 'What kind of government do we have? Pahalgam massacre: 'Killer had camera strapped to head, filmed hubby's death'
KOLKATA/SURAT: Pahalgam tragedy survivors said on Thursday the terrorists recorded the massacre on their bodycams while they went about killing the tourists one after another. "I can't wipe those nightmarish moments from my memory. The gunman who shot my husband down had a video camera strapped to his forehead. It meant they were recording the acts or may have been streaming it for some persons to watch," she said. Bitan was held at gunpoint and after he kept quiet when asked to reveal his religion, he was asked to recite the first kalma. When he said he couldn't, admitting that he was a Hindu, he was shot dead. Recounting the moments at Baisaran Valley before the massacre, Sohini said: "We were having a good time in the valley when we saw some people coming over and asking questions. Suddenly, we heard gunshots. Everyone ducked down as the militants came up to us and asked our identities. An elderly man remained silent. He was shot in the head," she recalled. "Just when we thought we had survived, my husband was shot. He slumped to the ground. At first, I thought he had fainted and could be revived." Another survivor, Naksh (10), also revealed that the terrorists recorded the killings on their bodycams. Naksh's father, Shailesh Kalathiya, a banker at SBI's Kandivali branch in Mumbai, was among the 26 victims. The boy, along with his sister, Neeti, and mother, Shital, survived the massacre. Recounting the horror, Naksh said: "We were hungry, so we went to eat. Suddenly, gunfire erupted, and all ran for their lives. The gunmen were wearing caps fitted with cameras."

"Terrorist Was Laughing After Shooting My Husband": Pahalgam Attack Victim's Wife
Ahmedabad: The wife of Surat resident Shailesh Kalathiya, who lost his life in the terror attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam, on Thursday said terrorists showed no remorse as they were seen laughing after shooting her husband dead. Three Gujarat residents, including Kalathiya, were among the 26 persons killed in the terror attack in south Kashmir's Pahalgam town on Tuesday. Two other victims from the state - Yatish Parmar and his son Smit - were from Bhavnagar city. The three victims were cremated at their respective native places on Thursday as local residents joined their funeral processions amid outpouring of grief. Shitalben Kalathiya, the wife of victims Shailesh Kalathiya, was visibly upset when her husband's remains were being taken to a crematorium from their house. Talking to reporters, she said the terrorists showed no mercy as they were laughing after killing her husband from a very close range. "A terrorist first came close to us and then shot my husband after learning that he is a Hindu. Just like my husband, other Hindu men were shot in front of their children. The terrorist was laughing after shooting my husband and did not leave the place till he died," she said. Kalathiya's son Naksh performed the last rites of his father in Surat. Talking to reporters later, Naksh said his father was singled out for being a Hindu and shot dead by a terrorist in front of him and his mother. Shailesh Kalathiya was vacationing in Pahalgam along with his wife Shitalben, son Naksh and elder daughter Niti when the group of terrorists struck Baisaran. "As soon as we heard gunshots, all the tourists started running in search of cover at Pahalgam. Two terrorists eventually found us and asked all of us to identify our religion. They divided men in two groups - Hindus and Muslims. Then, they shot dead all the Hindu men, including my father, and ran away," Naksh said. "At the time of attack, there were nearly 20 to 30 tourists in that area. I feared that I would also be killed. After separating Hindus from Muslims, the terrorists asked them to recite 'kalma'. Muslims who recited it were spared. But those who could not recite were gunned down," he said. At Bhavnagar, Smit Parmar's maternal cousin Sarthak Nathani explained how the terror attack took place. Out of the total 20 persons who came to Srinagar from Bhavnagar, including the Parmar and Nathani family, 12 went to Pahalgam where they were targeted by terrorists. He said the terrorists who had opened fire on tourists in that area were wearing green-coloured clothes like Army uniform and their faces were not covered. "Everyone started running due to indiscriminate firing from all sides. Yatishbhai was shot dead by terrorists. I saw from some distance that a terrorist then asked Smit something and then pumped a bullet from a close range," Nathani said
