With all the usual 'human problems' in the unending churn of doomy news, wandering through this year's nature-focused The Works Art & Design Festival is an honestly chill and meditative experience — and occasionally hilarious, too.
Starting with one that made me laugh out loud on Churchill Square, Hilary Mussel's little sculpture on the ground amid all the big works is called The Passenger Motel, a tiny, California-style double-decker with an attached pool built to pigeon scale.

(via CNN Newsource) Grammy-winning rapper, singer and songwriter Lil Nas X has been arrested, according Los Angeles County Sheriff inmate records. The 'Industry Baby' rapper, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, was found early Thursday morning in the Studio City area on Ventura Boulevard, according to public information officer Charles Miller. 'Upon arrival the suspect charged at officers and was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed under arrest for battery on a police officer,' Miller said. Lil Nas X is being held in the Valley Jail in Van Nuys. CNN has reached out to his representatives for comment. The artist who came to fame for his 2018 viral hit 'Old Town Road' with Billy Ray Cyrus has been as much a provocateur as music artist. In 2020, he talked to Variety about the struggles he had endured since becoming famous, including the losses of fellow artists Nipsey Hussle, XXXTentacion and Juice Wrld. 'So much happened during my rise. You know, drugs and murders,' Lil Nas X told the publication at the time. 'And my grandmother passing (in 2018)— she was the first person close to me who died. It was devastating. And it made me a hypochondriac: I'd wake up, heart racing. It was scary.' He also said he started 'smoking (weed) heavily' as a way to self-medicate. 'But then I started feeling more connected with the universe, and taking everything as a sign,' he said.

Apple boosts subscription price for TV+ to US$12.99

ADVERTISEMENT Apple TV+ is known for psychological thriller 'Severance', which garnered 27 Emmy Award nominations this year, and popular original shows such as 'Ted Lasso' and 'The Morning Show'. However, the streaming network has lagged behind rivals Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video in terms of subscribers. The iPhone maker does not break down the subscribers for Apple TV+, but it is estimated to have reached 40.4 million at the end of 2024, according to five analysts polled by Visible Alpha. In comparison, Netflix had over 300 million paid memberships at the end of last year. Apple had last increased the subscription price for Apple TV+ by $3 in October 2023. Peacock raised the prices for both its ad-supported plans and premium plus plans by $3 in July. Apple is losing more than $1 billion a year on Apple TV+, the Information had reported in March. It has spent more than $5 billion a year on content since launching Apple TV+ in 2019 but trimmed it by around $500 million last year.
