Endrick Dos Santos draws on Vietnam experience to help Harimau Malaya break nine-year winless streak
Endrick, who is currently on loan with Ho Chi Minh City in the V.League 1 for the 2024-2025 season, said he was working closely with the coaching staff to offer ideas and tactical input that could help Malaysia claim a long-awaited victory over Vietnam — a feat they have not achieved since 2014.
'Many times we come prepared. We also have our analysts who study their game. They are fast, strong, and aggressive, but they also have weaknesses, so we train hard, follow the coach's plan, and I believe we are in a good position to perform well again,' he said at a press conference today. '
The last time Malaysia defeated the Golden Star Warriors was in 2014. Since then, Malaysia has suffered seven defeats and managed just one draw in their eight encounters across all competitions.
In their most recent meeting, Vietnam secured a convincing 3-0 victory in the group stage of the 2022 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup, now known as the ASEAN Championship.
When asked about the competition for midfield positions in the Harimau Malaya squad, Endrick admitted that securing a starting spot was no easy task.

The Brunei contingent will compete in two events: athletics and bowling. Amiruddin Mohd Zain is set to compete in the 800m and 1500m athletics events, while three athletes – Khairul Anwar Jofari, Mohammad Nazri Mahat, and Md. Hariz Hassan – will participate in the bowling events, including individual, doubles and trio competitions. Boosting the morale of the contingent, a national flag handover ceremony took place at Brunei International Airport on Monday night (Aug 18) before their departure to Indonesia. The Chef de Mission of Brunei's contingent, Norahalim Abd Rahman, received the flag from the Minister. Kelantan shine at home with superb win
PETALING JAYA: Kelantan made home advantage count in emphatic fashion, brushing aside Kuala Lumpur 3-1 in the FA Cup round-of-16 first leg at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru on Monday (Aug 18). Two 'home' grounds for Harimau Malaya
KUALA LUMPUR: Harimau Malaya will have the rare experience of calling two different stadiums "home" next month when they take on Singapore and Palestine in international friendlies. The FA of Malaysia (FAM), in a statement on its official social media, confirmed that Peter Clamovski's men will face traditional rivals Singapore on Sept 4 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, before shifting base to the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Johor to play Palestine on Sept 8. "Our national team will play two high-level matches at two different venues, offering valuable preparation ahead of upcoming competitions. See you there!" FAM posted. The September fixtures will serve as vital tune-ups for Malaysia's next challenge in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, where they have been drawn in Group F alongside Laos, Vietnam and Nepal. Malaysia continue their campaign away to Laos on Oct 9 at the New Laos National Stadium in Vientiane, before hosting the same opponents five days later. Cklamovski's side will then travel to Kathmandu to face Nepal on Nov 18, a match that could prove crucial in determining the group standings.
