Tributes have been paid to a "fantastic" 19-year-old man who died after he was struck by a vehicle on a country road.The crash happened on the B6265 at Ripley Bank, between Glasshouses and Pateley Bridge, between 01:44 and 03:10 BST on Sunday, North Yorkshire Police said.The man, who was found dead at the scene, has been named as Bailey Chadwick by his employers at the Royal Oak pub in Pateley Bridge.Owner Robert Jackson, who had known Mr Chadwick all his life as he was friends with his parents, described him as a "true gentleman".
He said: "He was a fantastic person. A fine young man who was polite, helpful and the best barman."We all miss him so much. It is such a waste as he had his whole life ahead of him."A post on the pub's Facebook page said the team's "thoughts are with his family and friends at this time"."I would ask everyone to bear with us a little bit as there's a rather large hole to fill both personally and professionally for each and every one of our team," it said.Police have asked anyone who was driving in the area at the time to get in touch.

A woman has died six days after a two-vehicle crash in the Highlands involving a vehicle that had earlier been reported stolen.. The 50-year-old driver of a red Vauxhall Corsa was involved in a collision on the A96 at Newton of Perry, near Inverness. She was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died on Thursday. The crash which happened on 18 July at about 08:45 involved a black Volvo XC60 and the Corsa which had been reported stolen earlier that morning in Buckie. Police told BBC Scotland said enquires were still ongoing into the reported passenger of the Volvo, a 74 -year-old woman, is still receiving treatment at the same Aberdeen hospital and is in a stable condition. The Volvo's male driver, 74, was taken to a hospital in Inverness but was later discharged. A dog that was travelling in the Corsa died at the scene. Sgt Ewan Calder said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died, and we continue to carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the crash and the events leading up to it.""We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who saw the Vauxhall Corsa being driven in the area prior to the collision."I would also urge anyone with dash-cam footage or any other information that could assist to contact police."

The funeral will take place on Friday of a 19-year-old man who died in a two-vehicle accident on the N71 in Co Cork earlier this week. Dovydas Palkis of Gortnaclohy Heights in Skibbereen, Co Cork, died when the car he was driving collided with a truck on the motorway between Ballinhassig and Innishannon at 7.15am on Monday. Advertisement Mr Palkis was a staff member at the Kerry-based construction firm Jovin Projects. He was also a past pupil of Skibbereen Community School. Tributes have been paid to the teenager. Skibbereen AFC said in a statement that Dovydas played with the club for many years. 'Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother Stella and father Vidmantas, step father John and Vidmantas partner Agne, step sister Chloe and all of his family and friends. "Dovydas was a really lovely young man with a fabulous left leg. He will be greatly missed by the club, his former coaches, teammates & the wider Skibbereen community. Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam. ' Advertisement O'Donovan Rossa GAA Club spoke of their 'wonderful memories' of Dovydas as a young boy playing football with his friends. 'He played all the way up to U17 where he stepped away to concentrate on his leaving cert exams. He was a fantastic corner back with great strength and determination, who for such a quiet character was fearless on the pitch. "He will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of playing or coaching him as a quiet, respectful young man who we will miss dearly. Rest in peace Dovydas.' Dovydas is survived by his parents, sister Chloe, grandparents, extended family, friends and his 'canine friend Peppa.' His requiem mass will take place on Friday at noon in St Patrick's Cathedral, Skibbereen with cremation following at the Island Crematorium in Ringaskiddy, Cork following at 4pm.

Devon Simmonds: Murder charge over death of boy, 15, in crash

A man has been charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was killed in a crash involving a car and an electric bike. Devon Simmonds, 15, died after the crash on Rowrah Crescent in Middleton at about 11:55 BST on Manchester Police (GMP) said Terrence King, 59, has been charged with murder in connection with the incident. Police said Mr King appeared before Manchester Magistrates Court earlier and was remanded in custody. The force said another 15-year-old boy who had been arrested on suspicion of theft, in relation to the same incident, was bailed pending further inquiries. Mr King is set to appear before Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 28 July. Detective Insp Andrew Naismith of GMP said he was aware of footage of the incident circulating online which he asked people not to share due to ongoing proceedings and out of respect for the boy's grieving family. "There is still much to do, and our officers are carefully combing through all available evidence to build a picture of the events of that day," he said.
