Kaizer Chiefs target gets on the score sheet
Kaizer Chiefs have expressed an interest in two talented SuperSport United defenders. Can they pull off an audacious move?
21-year-old Ime Okon is already a pillar in defence for Matsatsantsa.
Chiefa are also looking at left-back Aphiwe Baliti.
Kabelo Dlamini scored from the penalty spot and Ime Okon rose highest to plant a header in the back of the net as South Africa claimed a key 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup.
'We wanted to respond with intent, and the boys showed character,' Vmanager ela Khumalo said post-match, as quoted in a recent X update from the South African Football Association.
'We showed resilience and took our chances when it mattered,' Okon told reporters.
'Orlando Pirates are emptying the recycling bin now'
Recent reports linked Chiefs with a move for versatile 23-year-old Aphiwe Baliti. Now, outstanding central defender Ime Okon is the next name on their wish list. His contract with Matsatsantsa reportedly expires at the end of June 2025.
Is Ime Okon the real deal?

Proteas name XI for World Test Championship final at Lord's
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has announced the Proteas XI for the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia starting on Wednesday, 11 June at Lord's. The first ball is due to be bowled at 11:30 (SA time). Bavuma headlines a well-rounded line-up that offers the first-time WTC finalists multiple options in all departments of the game. Headlining the batting order is Ryan Rickelton, who has been South Africa's top-scorer in the WTC 2023/25 cycle, alongside Bavuma – not too far behind in the scoring charts, Aiden Markram, and Tristan Stubbs. South Africa Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder, Temba Bavuma (captain), Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, Kyle Verrynne (wkt), Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi A notable decision is to stick with Wiaan Mulder at No 3 after he was used at that position during South Africa's recent Tests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. 'Mulder is quite young in that position. But I think having played with Mulder, having seen him and the way he has grown in the last two years within the red-ball format,' Bavuma said. 'It's about giving him a lot more confidence, keep backing him and just allowing him to do what he does best. 'He has an opportunity in a pressure situation, but I think he can take comfort from the fact that the guys are backing him. We just want him to play his game.' While Keshav Maharaj is the solitary full-time spinner, the bowling line-up also features Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen alongside Lungi Ngidi. While the Proteas squad also featured Dane Paterson, who had been in fine form during their last Test series against Pakistan, Bavuma explained the reasoning behind opting for Ngidi. 'Probably one of the tougher decisions that has been made. We see what Dane Paterson did for us to the end of last season,' Bavuma added. 'But it was more from a tactical point of view. Probably a little bit more pace from Lungi, guess he's a bit taller as well. 'Lungi also has a better record, not taking away anything from Patto. He (Ngidi) has the experience, he's played here before, not that Patto hasn't. 'But I think he (Ngidi) will complement that bowling attack a little more. We have a guy like Mulder, who can give us something similar like Patto. 'It was probably one of the difficult decision we had to make.' South Africa topped the ICC World Test Championship 2023/25 standings to book their ticket in the Ultimate Test, closely followed by the defending champions. Bafana chasing Cosafa Cup semifinal berth against Mauritius
Bafana Bafana's Cosafa Cup side desperately need a win against Mauritius to keep their semifinal hopes alive when they contest their last group A fixture at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Tuesday (3pm). After losing 1-0 to Mozambique in their opening group fixture, Bafana's second-string team bounced back with a 2-0 win against Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein at the weekend. The win came as a huge confidence boost heading to their last group match, but most importantly the victory kept Bafana's semifinal dreams alive. Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Aden McCarthy, 21, said the players were mentally and physically ready to fight for a semifinal berth. Mozambique head the group A with four points from two games, before their final fixture against Zimbabwe (one), followed by SA (three), Mauritius (two), and Zimbabwe. 'Coming to Bloem before the Cosafa Cup, we never had much time to prep,' McCarthy said. 'But we have coachable players, and with us playing for our respective teams at home, we know that we come from a busy season. 'So, we just have to stick it through, and we came here with a mindset ready to fight, ready to conquer and win games. 'Unfortunately, the first game never went in our favour, but we came back with a good fight for the second game, and going into the third one I feel that as a team we are very prepared for that. 'Mentally, we are strong and physically as well. On the field, no team can dominate the ball as much as we do.' 'In terms of our confidence in one another, our belief in one another, and the belief coming from the tactical team, we will work as one team to overcome the opposition.' The Herald

Orlando Pirates transfers: Bucs beat Chiefs to marquee man, Rulani flirting?
Orlando Pirates have beaten Kaizer Chiefs to the signing of a talented PSL 23-year-old. We also have an update on Rulani Mokwena. Former Sundowns manager Rulani Mokwena has vacated his post as head coach of Wydad AC. The 38-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to Orlando Pirates, and Rulani isn't doing much to quell those rumours. He served as Josef Zinnbauer's assistant in the 2019-2020 campaign. Well, the versatile star can operate at right-back or in central midfield. This will be a considerable boost for the Pirates technical team; although they have a strong squad at their disposal, both full-back positions are a relative weak spot. With experience in the second tier, it's also hoped that he's ready for a battle. There are reports that Pirates are also close to wrapping up a deal for Baroka's winger Kabelo Kgositsile. He's opened up about the imminent move, which is a bittersweet one. Mashiloane player profile Orlando Pirates have moved quickly to secure a replacement for the departed Miguel Timm. 23-year-old Masindi 'Confidence' Nemtajela is the man. The all-action schemer made 17 appearances for Gallants in the league last season, scoring once, supplying two assists and picking up four bookings.
