Kaizer Chiefs target gets on the score sheet
Kaizer Chiefs have expressed an interest in two talented SuperSport United defenders. Can they pull off an audacious move?
21-year-old Ime Okon is already a pillar in defence for Matsatsantsa.
Chiefa are also looking at left-back Aphiwe Baliti.
Kabelo Dlamini scored from the penalty spot and Ime Okon rose highest to plant a header in the back of the net as South Africa claimed a key 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the COSAFA Cup.
'We wanted to respond with intent, and the boys showed character,' Vmanager ela Khumalo said post-match, as quoted in a recent X update from the South African Football Association.
'We showed resilience and took our chances when it mattered,' Okon told reporters.
'Orlando Pirates are emptying the recycling bin now'
Recent reports linked Chiefs with a move for versatile 23-year-old Aphiwe Baliti. Now, outstanding central defender Ime Okon is the next name on their wish list. His contract with Matsatsantsa reportedly expires at the end of June 2025.

Five players that can win Kaizer Chiefs the league next season
Kaizer Chiefs have not won the league since the 2014/15 season under Stuart Baxter. The Soweto giants came close in 2019/20 season but lost out to Mamelodi Sundowns on the last day of the season. Since then, Amakhosi have struggled in the Betway Premiership, failing to finish in the top 8 for two consecutive season. Under Nasreddine Nabi, Amakhosi claimed the Nedbank Cup title, which was their only silverware in 10 years. With the pre-season only a few weeks away, Chiefs need to sign quality players to compete for top honours. With the current squad, Chiefs won't get close to their fifth PSL title. Nabi needs to bring at least five top players to the team if they are to compete for big titles. Here are five players that Kaizer Chiefs must sign to compete for the league: Feisal Salum The Tanzanian star can inject life into the Amakhosi's midfield. He can score and assist which is something the club has lacked from their midfielders. Fiston Mayele The Congolese striker is unlikely to join the Soweto giants given his price tag and wages. He recently won the CAF Champions League with Pyramids making his a desireable option for Middle East teams. If Chiefs could sign Mayele, their goalscoring woes won't end. Oswin Appollis The Polokwane City could be on his way to Naturena if all goes well. He was not in Polokwane City's final match of the season which raised eyebrows. At 23, the speedy winger could be a long term investment for Kaizer Chiefs epecially if they are looking to win the league. Fawaaz Basadien The Bafana Bafana left-back has been linked to Amakhosi for almost two years. With Miguel Inacio, Rushwin Dortley and Basadien at the back, Chiefs will no doubt solve their defensive problems having leaked the third most goals last campaign. Monnapule Saleng Saleng won five trophies with Pirates but will he win the league if he joined Kaizer Chiefs? the attacker has been rumoured with a move to Naturena in recent weeks after getting sidelined by the Buccaneers for months. 'Relebohile Mofokeng must play in the UEFA Champions League'
Bafana Bafana legend Teko Modise feels this is the right time for Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng to play in Europe. The 20-year-old has played close to 90 matches for the Sea Robbers scoring 18 goals. Since his breakout season, the young attacker has been hailed as one of the best young players the country has produced. Modise said Pirates should not hesitate to sell Mofokeng. 'When it comes to Rele, it's very difficult for Orlando Pirates to sell, especially when it comes to top players,' Modise told FARPost . 'The last time they had a player who was exciting like that was [Thembinkosi] Lorch. Yes, sometimes, as South African fans, we want to see the youngsters go further abroad and do great things. 'I just wish that happens for him sooner rather than later so that he becomes a better player. The better Rele, the better the national team will be, cause at some point, he's going to be the superstar of the national team,' he said. Mofokeng made his debut for Bafana Bafana last year after impressing coach Hugo Broos. He has since become a permanent feature in the national team and is more likely to play a big role in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. 'I strongly believe that Orlando Pirates know what they have. I just hope that it happens for the boy, I so wish that it happens for the boy,' Modise said. 'It will not only improve his life but also his family. He must play the UEFA Champions League, cause I think if he gets to be in that type of position, I'll be more proud because he would have gotten the opportunities that I never had. 'I'm rallying that he goes [overseas] because it would be great to see the youngster that we've all seen from the DDC to the PSL to actually go overseas. That would be great.' Mofokeng earned his sixth cap for Bafana Bafana against Tanzania last week when he appeared from the bench. Kaizer Chiefs to axe big names in brutal squad overhaul
Kaizer Chiefs have begun a dramatic squad shake-up, with nine players set to leave the Soweto giants as early as this week. The purge comes in the wake of an internal review, conducted after yet another disappointing 2024/2025 Betway Premiership season. Chiefs wasted no time, already parting ways with Ranga Chivaviro and Sabelo Radebe. The duo failed to impress, with Radebe returning from a fruitless loan spell at Richards Bay before being let go by the club. Despite coming through the academy ranks, he never cemented his place in the senior team. Njabulo Blom, who had returned on loan from St. Louis City SC, is heading back to the USA after struggling for game time. His departure adds to the growing list of players Chiefs are offloading. This publication previously revealed that Edmilson Dove will also exit Naturena when his contract ends in June. Chiefs have shown no interest in renewing the Mozambican international's deal. Another big name under review is Reeve Frosler, whose contract is also set to expire. However, reports suggest that the pacey fullback may still have a future at the club, with negotiations said to be ongoing. The future of club captain Yusuf Maart had looked uncertain, especially after receiving heavy criticism from fans throughout the season. But he silenced doubters in spectacular fashion, scoring the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup final. Meanwhile, Edson Castillo, George Matlou, and Mduduzi Shabalala all face uncertain futures with their contracts expiring. Castillo's season was marred by injury, while Shabalala, who made a strong start to the past season, is expected to stay. With major continental ambitions on the horizon, the club must act decisively. A source that spoke to a publication called Sportswire said , 'These players are not good enough.' Chiefs know they must invest in quality reinforcements, especially with their participation in the CAF Confederation Cup secured thanks to their Nedbank Cup success. Who should Kaizer Chiefs release before the start of the new season? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
