Former MasterChef warehouse up for lease
An iconic piece of Australian TV history is up for rent.
The inner-city warehouse where top-rating cooking show MasterChef was shown the door has come up for lease again.
MasterChef Australia was produced at the heritage-style brick building at 9-13 Doody St, Alexandria for the first five years of the show.
A Daily Telegraph report in August 2012 said the new owners were not committed to continuing to host the production, prompting an interstate move.
And despite producers Shine Australia and broadcaster Network Ten denying a decision had been made at the time, sure enough, the famous show headed to Melbourne and has been there ever since.
Why old house doubled in value in two years
The last MasterChef produced at Doody St was the MasterChef Australia All-Stars series of 2012, which featured a range of returning contestants from the first three seasons, including season one and season three winners Julie Goodwin and Kate Bracks.
The current tenant, Sass & Bide, which has its office there is vacating but Colliers agents Jeremy Green and Jackson Wray don't think they'll have much trouble attracting a new one.
'We've only had it advertised since last week and we've already had a dozen inquiries,' Mr Green said.
'We've already got interest from a furniture company and multiple fashion brands.
'It's got a big street presence and it's a lovely character building, so one of those guys will jump at it.'
The current rent is $915k per annum, plus parking. The 14 parking bays are tipped to cost $40k-$50k per year.
'Parking is very tight in South Sydney,' Mr Wray said.
He said the building was arguably South Sydney's most famous freehold commercial building with a rich history.
'This would be the best freehold property to come to market for lease in recent times,' Mr Wray added.
The property offers excellent connectivity to Sydney CBD, the airport, and surrounding areas. The building is positioned within a thriving commercial precinct, with easy access to major arterial roads and public transport, while also having parking for both tenants and visitors.

A Perth-based filmmaker is set to premiere his indie-punk thriller film 'Skeleton Girls. A Kidnapped Society' at the Perth Revelation International Film Festival in July. PRIFF is an 11-day event that showcases more than 200 international films and is a 'fierce advocate for adventurous independent cinema and Australian screen culture'. It includes Skeleton Girls, follows Anna Kaiser who is on the run after a fatal incident and pursed by 24-hour TV. Your local paper, whenever you want it. It is directed and written by Bedford local Richard Eames, who co-created it with wife Helena who juggled multiple roles behind the scenes. Credit: skel The feature was filmed over nine months and was finished off with a lengthy post-production period which involved adding animation and VFX. The 107-minute film is entirely shot in WA and features many of Perth's most recognisable backdrops, from West Leederville's semi-industrial streets and Oxford Street Reserve to grungy inner-city laneways such as Wolf Lane. The team even managed to get permission from Perth Concert Hall to use a secret tunnel underneath St Georges Terrace. 'It was 100 per cent self-financed. Just years of hard work, sacrifice and living very frugally to save the funds,' Eames said. 'Even when I thought I had enough money, we blew through the budget, so I had to go back to work to fund the next bit of filming. 'We had a lot of people involved who were just really passionate about it and contributed their time either for free or at reduced rates.' According to the Revelation festival, Skeleton Girls plays 'like the mutant off-spring of Run Lola Run, Suburbia, Subway, Repo Man and Green Room, all shot through with a bold, luminescent palette, and driven by a punk and post punk score'. 'Our film really feels at home in that festival, and it just so happens to be a local festival as well, and they've been just really supportive of the film and what we were trying to do, and just really understand the vibe and the voice of the film, so we're really excited to be a part of the festival this year,' Eames said. Airport drama for Aussie after shock discovery on passport
An Australian fashion boss has issued a warning to fellow jet setters after a seemingly small passport mishap almost sabotaged her travels plans. Show Po CEO Jane Lu was Paris bound when she was initially told by Australian customs officials she would not be able to board her flight due to water damage on her passport. 'I'm at the airport and they're telling me that I can't get onto my flight to Paris because my passport has water damage,' she said in a TikTok video. The business owner didn't think the water damage would pose an issue at the airport given she had recently travelled to the US using the same passport without a hitch. Panic ensued when Ms Lu explained the Europe trip was for a campaign shoot for her clothing brand. 'I also have the luggage for our homecoming campaign that we need to shoot two days after I arrive,' Ms Lu continued. 'So if I don't make it the campaign won't happen.' In a follow-up video, Ms Lu manages to overcome the impending cisis by signing a waiver. 'I just got through, so she said that I have to sign a waiver to say that if Paris turns me away I'll just have to come back,' she said. 'So I signed it but I still might get turned back. Hopefully the French are chill.' 'It's a really long flight to get turned away but I have to try.' After leaving viewers waiting to hear the outcome upon landing in Paris, Ms Lu revealed the 'moment of truth'. 'Omg, it worked,' she exclaimed. PinkPantheress pulls plug on Thursday Glasto set
PinkPantheress has cancelled one of her two sets at Glastonbury. The Princess Diana hitmaker was due to play the Levels stage in Silver Hayes at Worthy Farm at 11pm on Thursday (26.06.25) - but the 30-minute set has been axed at the last minute. A Glasto spokesperson confirmed to The Sun that fears of "overcrowding" had nothing to do with the decision to abort the set. They said: 'This change was absolutely not as a result of overcrowding fears; the artist was simply no longer able to make this performance. " Fans will still get to see PinkPantheress play Woodsies from 7.30pm on Friday (27.06.25). The spokesperson added: 'She is still playing her Woodsies set.' Australian DJ Roza Terenzi will now perform on Levels at 10.30pm and midnight. Meanwhile, Chappell Roan is rumoured to be the mystery artist, Patchwork, who is scheduled to perform at Glastonbury. The Pink Pony Club hitmaker has made no secret of the fact she loves patchwork, having worn a pink patchwork ensemble to the 2025 Met Gala, and just before the world-famous festival opened its doors on Wednesday morning (25.06.25) , the pop star posted a picture of her holding a colourful patchwork throw when she was little.
