Jadeja, Washington pull off epic rescue act as India escape with draw, series alive at 2-1
Having conceded a 311-run lead and lost their openers for duck in the second innings, India displayed a steely resolve to get a favourable result largely due to the efforts of captain Shubman Gill (103 off 238), K L Rahul (90 off 230), Jadeja (107 not out off 185) and Washington (101 not out off 206).
With inspirational England skipper Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer removing a well set Gill and Rahul in the morning, England sensed a series sealing victory but Jadeja and Washington hung in there before milking the bowlers towards the end of the day.
Just before the start of last hour of play, Ben Stokes expressed his desire to end the game but India decided to carry on with Washington and Jadeja closing in on deserving hundreds. Stokes was clearly not amused.
Harry Brook started to offer freebies to Jadeja and Washington as a sign of disapproval for India's decision to carry on playing. Players finally shook hands after the milestones of Jadeja and Washington were achieved with the latter scoring his maiden Test hundred.

Siraj plays with a lot of heart and always gives that extra 10%: Dilip
After a series-saving five-wicket haul at The Oval, Mohammed Siraj was spotted learning a trend from Arshdeep Singh for an Instagram reel. It involved a nonchalant utterance of the words: 'Pressure? What pressure?' Arshdeep then chided a bumbling Siraj, 'He has to be taught everything besides bowling!' He was right. With 23 wickets to his name, Siraj emerged as India's leading wicket-taker in England, the joint most by an Indian seamer in a Test series in the country alongside Jasprit Bumrah (2021-22). That trademark aggression which England had stared into time and again over the last 25 days was replaced by a big, toothy smile. Team India fielding coach T. Dilip was all praise for the explosive Hyderabad pacer, saying Siraj loves a 'good challenge.' 'In most games I have seen him feature in — be it in Ranji Trophy or for India — whenever there's a challenge placed before him, he comes out on top. Challenges get the best out of him, and the best way he tackles hard stuff is by bringing out that aggression,' he told The Hindu. The 31-year-old shouldered a lion's share of bowling duties, accounting for 185.3 overs in all. 'It's never easy for any fast bowler to play all games while also being effective. The physical side is one thing, but it also comes down to mindset. Siraj plays with a lot of heart. He takes pride in representing India and always gives that extra 10%. It shows what a character he is'.

India in England: After 25 days of toil, its even-stevens
The pacer almost had Gus Atkinson the next delivery but the catch fell short of second slip fielder KL Rahul. Smith's wicket infused new confidence not only in the team but the Indian supporters, who thronged the venue to cheer for their team, albeit for an hour. They followed every step Siraj took during his run up and let out huge oohs and aahs whenever the pacer had a go at the batter with his incisive line and length. Such was Siraj's impact that every ball he bowled became an event. Every time he ran into bowl, Indian fans were expecting a wicket and he obliged as he sent back Jamie Overton the next over reducing England to 354/4, still 20 runs away from the target. India looked out of the contest on Day 4 afternoon when Harry Brook and Joe Root were going hammer and tongs. The duo added 195 runs for the fourth wicket to push India to the wall. But Shubman Gill and Co never lost hope and staged one of the most remarkable comebacks in Test history. "What we did this morning kind of summarizes what this team is all about. 70 odd runs, 7 wickets in hand. The way Brook and Root were going, not many teams in the world would have given themselves a chance. But this team believes that whenever we have some kind of an opening, we can make that, we can get through that opening," captain Gill told journalists after the match. Gill complimented Siraj and said having a bowler like him makes captain's job easy. "And that's what we were talking about once Brook was out and then we got early wicket of Bethel, that this is our opening. One more wicket from here, and you never know, it's cricket, still 70 odd runs on Day 4, on that kind of a wicket, or even 50 runs, they would be under pressure. But when you've got bowlers like him bowling, it makes your job as a captain very easy. You're just standing out there and you just want to appreciate their bowling," he said.
