Travis Kelce Accused Of Acting Like A 'Dumb Pet' Next To Taylor Swift During Her Podcast Appearance
On the podcast, the NFL star was seemingly all over his girlfriend as he sat next to her, praising the "Bad Blood" hitmaker for using "big" words and being the "best songwriter in the world."
However, fans have now slammed the Kansas City Chiefs tight end for acting like a "dumb pet," while others suggested Taylor Swift was too smart for Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce.
Travis Kelce's Behavior During The Podcast Has Come Under Scrutiny
Swift joined her boyfriend Kelce on the Wednesday episode of "New Heights" podcast, where she revealed the tracklist for her upcoming album "The Life Of A Showgirl," which she said would drop on October 3.
The lovebirds looked so smitten with each other as they took turns to share some insights about their relationship. At some points, they unabashedly flaunted some major PDA, with Swift maintaining a bright grin throughout.
During the show, the "Blank Space" singer talked about a variety of subjects like numerology and Shakespeare with her boyfriend and his brother, Jason.
Kelce, seemingly in awe of the Grammy winner, praised her for using "big words" after she said the term "exoteric," prompting Swift to clarify that he actually knows what the word means before late calling the football player "handsome."
However, not all viewers were particularly pleased with how the pair behaved, with many accusing Kelce of acting "dumb."
Fans Scrutinize Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce's Actions During The Podcast
Some Internet users took to social media to accuse Swift of treating Kelce like a child or, as one commenter colorfully put it, a "dumb pet."
"This is giving me baby talking to my cat. 'Oh, you're so stupid! You're so cute and stupid! Just a tiny brain cell! Such a cute, stupid baby!" a Reddit user wrote.
"It's giving him being slow, and her treating him like a dumb pet," someone else declared, while another compared her to a "my know-it-all friend" they had in middle school who "got a thesaurus for Christmas at 12 and suddenly discovered four-syllable words that she would just inject into every sentence possible."
"I was trying not to scratch my eyes out when [Jason] asked what numerology was…you can't like…critically think for two seconds at what that might have to do with?? Really? There is literally no way," another user penned.
Netizens Claim The Singer Was Too 'Smart' For The Brothers
Amid the criticism, others just thought Swift was too smart for Kelce, and that the NFL star was just being a "simp" for her.
"Travis Kelce is actually King of the Himbos and simps, and I hope he becomes a role model for every dumb white man," one user wrote.
Another added, "She is just sooooo much smarter, like incredibly smarter than them, and I don't know how she stands hanging out with them for more than 38 seconds at a time bc she's had to explain herself about 113 times this whole show."
A third person wrote on X, "Travis really out here simping over vocabulary."
Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Talked Shakespeare
During their discussion, Swift opened up on how she drew inspiration from Shakespeare with the opening song of her album. The singer then revealed that she had to give Kelce a rundown on Shakespeare's tragedy, Hamlet, because he had never read it before.
She revealed that the first track is titled "The Fate Of Ophelia," with "Ophelia" being a character from Shakespeare's Hamlet.
When she announced the name of the first track, Kelce asked his brother, "Do you know what Fate of Ophelia is?" The singer then looked at her boyfriend while smiling and asked, "You want to talk about Hamlet?"
"I don't want to get Jason all riled up," Kelce replied. Swift then told Jason that her boyfriend "might not have read Hamlet" but that she "explained it to him."
"Don't tell my middle school English teacher I didn't read it. Because I definitely was supposed to," the Super Bowl winner joked.
After Jason laughed at him, the tight end replied, "It's alright, I watched 'The Lion King.'"
"See, he knows what 'Hamlet' is," Swift excitedly chimed in, referencing how the play inspired the Disney animated musical.
Taylor Swift Recalls Awkward Football Question On Their First Date
Elsewhere on the show, Swift shared insight into what their first date looked like, applauding Kelce for not being "judgmental."
The couple have been together since 2023, and have remained very public supporters of each other, with Swift often attending his games while the athlete stops by at her shows.
However, things were seemingly awkward on their first date as Swift admits she didn't know anything about football.
"On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl, and he looked across the field across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing on the other… five feet in front of him on the field," she recalled.
Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs previously faced the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022 when his brother Jason was still on the team before he ultimately retired.
"[Travis] didn't even look at me. Like, I now know what an insane question that was," Swift said, referencing her question. "He was like, 'Actually, I'm on the offense and my brother's on the offense, and I'm only on the field at the same time as the defense.' I thought everyone was on the field at the same time."

Nick & Vanessa Lachey's Head-Turning Real Estate Decision Shows How Much They Loved Their Dream Home
As the old saying goes, 'you can go home again.' That's exactly what Nick and Vanessa Lachey are doing with their recent real estate purchase. Let's dial it back to see how the couple went full circle with a 6,855-square-foot home in Tarzana, California. In 2020, the Lacheys moved to the $5.1 million mansion, thinking it would be the perfect place to raise their three children: Camden, 12, Brooklyn, 10, and Phoenix, 8. That was the plan until Vanessa scored a gig on NCIS: Hawai'i in 2021. More from SheKnows Prince William & Kate Middleton's 'Fresh Start' Home Comes With a Refreshing Financial Detail That meant a move to Honolulu, where they purchased an $8.8 million residence and sold their Tarzana estate to tennis pro Naomi Osaka for $6.2 million, per This is where things get a little crazy. NCIS: Hawai'i was canceled by CBS in April 2024, and it was time for the Lachey family to return to California. They bought a six-bedroom home in Encino, a neighborhood next door to Tarzana, for $6.8 million — but it wasn't the dream residence they once had. In a game of real estate shuffle, they put that home back on the market less than a year later because they were able to convince Osaka to sell their old property back to them. According to The Wall Street Journal, the U.S. Open champion made a nice profit on the place by selling it back to Nick and Vanessa for $7.95 million. The media outlet noted that this was a private sale since it wasn't listed on the open market, and Osaka had made substantial upgrades to the property. Osaka added necessary details for any athlete — a 'recovery center' with 'a sauna, a cold plunge, a steam room, and a massage table.' She even had her workout mantras posted in neon in the gym: 'Nothing good happens without discipline' and 'If it was easy, everyone would do it.' Surprisingly, the property did not have a tennis court, only a pickleball court — so it might be why Osaka is on the move. For the Lacheys, though, a return to their old home is a dream come of SheKnows 20 Times Madonna Reinvented Fashion at the VMAs The Best Photos of Madonna & Lookalike Daughter Lourdes Through The Years 22 Famous Women Who Have Played Roxie in Chicago on Broadway Solve the daily Crossword

'TSITP' Fans! Your Favorite TV Boyfriend Just Joined Jessica Chastain's New Horror Movie.
I realize that The Summer I Turned Pretty and the supernatural horror genre don't exactly sound like a match made in Heaven, but one of TSITP's breakout stars, Sean Kaufman, is set to act alongside several other big names in Hollywood for the upcoming horror film Other Mommy. Sidenote: I'm already terrified by this movie, and that's just based on the premise alone. Here's everything you need to know about Other Mommy, coming soon. Where can I watch Other Mommy? Other Mommy is sure to hit theaters soon. Stay tuned for an official release date! What is Other Mommy about? This upcoming movie is based on the horror novel Incidents Around the House, by Josh Malerman, who's best known for writing Birdbox. Other Mommy centers around a dysfunctional family with parents who are constantly fighting, and a young daughter, Bela, who is left alone to her own devices most of the time. Since Mom and Dad are so busy bickering and trying to win arguments, Bela is forced to resort to her own imagination in order to have companionship. The only times her parents actually do sit down to talk to Bela are when they're complaining about each other to her. Yeah. Not exactly what I'd call model behavior from the parenting 101 handbook. Especially considering the fact that Bela is only eight years old! While reading the book, I kept wanting to scream to the mom and dad that they should be airing out their issues to a licensed couple's therapist, rather than their young daughter. It was infuriating to read, but ultimately the perfect framing device to set the tone for Bela's growing need for an 'Other Mommy.' Cue, the creepiest element of the narrative: Bela begins hearing voices in the house from a supernatural entity called 'Other Mommy,' who keeps asking, 'Can I go inside your heart?' (I've never been so terrified in my life, and I've seen Hereditary.) This force becomes a looming threat within the family household, yet because Bela is so young, she doesn't come to the conclusion that 'Other Mommy' is anything to fear. In fact, at times, 'Other Mommy' might even be seen as a source of comfort for her, considering her real mother's neglect. I was wondering why this premise sounded so familiar until I realized how much it reminded me of Coraline. Hem, hem, 'Other Mother?' Yet while the Neil Gaiman book-to-movie adaptation has an eerie but ultimately whimsical vibe, don't get it twisted- Other Mommy is just straight-up horror. Even avid horror readers admitted to this novel being among the scariest they've ever read. Who's in the Other Mommy cast? In addition to Sean Kaufman, we'll see some amazing names like Jessica Chastain, as well as Jay Duplass. Interestingly enough, the script was crafted by Succession writer, Nathan Eltson (I highly doubt they'll be cracking Roman Roy-style jokes in this particular script, though). Here's the full Other Mommy cast: Arabella Olivia Clark as Bela Sean Kaufman Adam Silver Jessica Chastain Jay Duplass Dichen Lachman Karen Allen Are y'all as terrified about this film as I am?
