Being 22 years in the game is quite difficult and
LeBron James
has achieved it. Despite having numerous records to his name, the MVP is being heavily criticized online for various reasons. One of the major criticisms that are spreading over the Internet is that James has 'no bag' to which the legend finally clapped back.
James appeared on the Mind the Game podcast where he addressed the criticisms and gave a fitting reply to all his haters. He was joined by teammate Luka Doncic. What was James reply? Here are all the details.
LeBron James reminds haters of his 42,000 points in NBA
The Lakers' power forward appeared on the Mind the Game podcast which is hosted by Steve Nash. During the show, the host raised the criticism that James has been facing online. To this, the MVP replied,
'I see it all the time.
It's like, you know, I'll be on social media, like, LeBron has no bag. LeBron has no bag, and I'm sitting over here with 50 billion points.'
It was a fitting reply to his haters who talk about how James lacks skills and only moves forward with his huge height and stature. James also went on to say that how back in the 2000's the number of dribbles was not a factor to scale a player. In fact, what mattered was how many points the player scored for the team.
However, with the recent involvement of new factors, fans have started being harsh towards players, and James has been a target of the same.
Talking about numbers, James has by far the highest in the league. With a towering 42,184 points in the regular season and 8,289 points in the playoffs, James has already set a benchmark that many players are yet to reach.
Luka Doncic does not know the meaning of a modern term
The four-time NBA championship holder was joined by the Lakers' star player Luka Doncic in the show.
When the discussion was going on regarding how new fans are saying James 'to have a bag,' Doncic went ahead to ask the meaning of the slang.
The host went ahead and explained that 'to have a bag' means possessing creative skills, which apparently, as per some fans, James lacks. After hearing the explanation, even Doncic denied the allegations and agreed that the MVP is one of the greatest players of the time.

From celebration to tragedy: all in a day's work

There was victory in the air in Bengaluru on June 4. After a 17-year-long wait, the city's favourite franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), had clinched the trophy in the Indian Premier League (IPL) the previous night. The team was landing in Bengaluru from Ahmedabad, and a victory parade was being planned. For a city reporter, this meant a long day. At around 10 a.m., the reporting team got on a conference call to plan the stories. We discussed how the city had not slept after the victory, how fans from the city had travelled to Ahmedabad to watch the final match, and how people on the Internet had created a thousand different memes and reels. We also discussed threadbare how we would cover the proposed victory parade. We anticipated that the Central Business District (CBD), where our office is located, would be choked with vehicles from the afternoon as the victory parade was scheduled to begin after 3 p.m. While loyal newspaper readers may be willing to wait for more than a day to read about the celebrations that unfolded that night in Bengaluru, online readers move on to other websites if the stories they are looking for are not uploaded on time. So, before leaving for office that morning, I filed some stories on the fan frenzy, describing how firecrackers had kept the skies aglow the previous night, people had danced madly on the streets, and bike rallies had kept everyone awake. My plan was simple: get to office early, file the special stories for the day, and keep the evening free as a great deal of coordination was necessary for covering such a mammoth event. An army of interns was stationed at multiple points at the city to watch the parade pass by. By around 1 p.m., fans clad in RCB colours begin to gather in CBD. I noted it down to draw a timeline later in the day. By 3 p.m., I finished filing three stories on the celebrations for online. But shortly, the unexpected happened. As lakhs of fans gathered around the M. Chinnaswamy stadium and Vidhana Soudha, we first got the news that a woman had lost consciousness. Then, more bad news trickled in: a person had died due to a 'stampede-like situation'. My colleague immediately checked with her hospital sources and found that at least four people had died. Within an hour, seeing the raucous crowd, we knew that the numbers would climb into double-digits. It did not take too long for us to find out that 11 people had died, and most of them very young. The mood quickly shifted in the newsroom, just as it did in the rest of the city. We decided that the stories of celebrations would no longer be reported for the print edition. I frantically called the interns one after another to make sure they were safe, and asked them to come back to office. All the reporters in the newsroom breathed a sigh of relief when the last intern made it back to the office. Then it was the turn of senior reporters to fan out. One went to the stadium, another to the hospital near the stadium, and yet another to the mortuary at the government hospital. After gathering inputs from multiple sources, colleagues, and eyewitnesses, I wrote a detailed story on how the celebrations quickly turned into a tragedy. I ended up drawing a timeline, but it was not the one I had planned earlier. There were steady developments. Reporters kept filing stories — about the chaos, the mismanagement, the panic, and the grief — without a break. They filed enough stories to fill nearly all the city pages. At around 11 p.m., I was finally done with work. When I made my way back home, the air was heavy with mourning. The city, which had been alive with celebrations just 24 hours ago, had fallen completely silent.

Magic Johnson's 'interesting' verdict on Kevin Durant trade rumours: 'He will allow them to get faster...'

It is all but certain that Kevin Durant will make his way out of the Phoenix Suns this summer. But where could the 36-year-old land? With the offseason around the corner, the Suns forward has already been linked to a few teams. Analysing the potential options for Durant, NBA legend Magic Johnson gave his verdict. Durant joined the Suns during the 2022/23 season, but the Arizona team has not quite metdidn't expectations since, having failed to get out of the first round last season and then missing the playoffs this year. The Suns are well aware that they are in dire need of a change, and Durant has been the cynosure of those discussions. Although Phoenix Suns attempted to trade Durant by the deadline, the plan has not yet been implemented. According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Suns and Durant's business partner met multiple times over the last week and are contemplating various trade scenarios, as reported on Wednesday. The report also saw Charania list as many as five teams interested in acquiring the fifteen-time NBA All-Star: the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, and New York Knicks. Speaking on ESPN's 'Get Up', Johnson wants Durant to take up the last option. "Kevin Durant, that's an interesting piece," Johnson said. "If I'm the Knicks, the Knicks are too slow. They're not going to beat Indiana next year or these other teams." Johnson then explained how the Knicks, who are still in the hunt for their first NBA title since 1973, can benefit from the deal with Durant. "They got to get a little faster, right? And to me, Kevin Durant will allow them to get faster and be a guy that can help Brunson in the fourth quarter," Johnson added. "You're relying on Brunson so much, one guy can't get you there. You got to give him some help. Kevin Durant will be a guy who will give you some help on the offensive end. Plus, he's able to put the teams that they play against in foul trouble. "I like Kevin Durant playing with the Knicks. I really do. A champion, he can teach the other guys how to win the championship. That would be important. But the main thing here is everybody's got to step up, Jay, and be better next season."
