Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi on Tuesday. Areas including Minto Bridge, Vijay Chowk, Moti Bagh flyover, Rafi Marg, and Nizamuddin flyover witnessed intense showers.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Tuesday's forecast says "thunderstorms with rain." The maximum temperature is going to be 34 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature is going to be 25 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the monsoon season has battered Himachal Pradesh, leaving 229 people dead, including 119 in rain-related incidents and 110 in road accidents, according to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
From June 20 to August 11, the state recorded Rs 2,00,741.57 lakh (over Rs 2,007 crore) in cumulative losses to human life, public and private property, agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and infrastructure. The toll on animals includes 1,611 cattle deaths and 25,755 poultry birds lost.
SDMA reported that the monsoon has severely disrupted basic infrastructure across districts; meanwhile, PWD roads worth Rs 1,07,181.80 lakh were damaged. Jal Shakti water schemes were hit, with a total damage of Rs 68,299.78 lakh, and power supply infrastructure worth Rs 13,946.69 lakh was damaged.
Additional damage was reported to health, education, rural and urban development, and animal husbandry departments, totalling thousands of lakhs. Housing losses are significant, with 916 houses fully damaged and 27,366 partially damaged, along with 627 cow sheds and 951 labour sheds/huts destroyed.
Kangra reported the highest number of rain-related deaths at 26, followed by Mandi (23), Chamba (9), Kullu (10), Kinnaur (8), Lahaul & Spiti (5), Shimla (6), Bilaspur (7), Una (7), Hamirpur (13), Sirmaur (2), and Solan (3). Mandi topped this category with 21 fatalities, followed by Chamba (17), Shimla (15), Kangra (9), Kinnaur (8), Kullu (8), Solan (12), Hamirpur (3), Bilaspur (3), Sirmaur (7), Una (6), and Lahaul & Spiti (1).
Authorities say restoration work is ongoing, but repeated landslides, road blockages, and continued heavy rainfall are slowing progress. The SDMA has warned of heightened risks in vulnerable zones and urged the public to follow safety advisories.

Himachal: Cloudbursts, flash floods lead to over 300 road closures, warning issued in 3 districts
More than 300 roads, including two national highways, were closed in Himachal Pradesh amid fresh incidents of cloudbursts and flash floods on Wednesday, reported PTI. Several bridges were also washed away in the state's Shimla, and Lahaul and Spiti districts. In Shimla, a police post was swept away after floods in the Ganvi ravine, while a bus stand and the adjoining shops were also damaged due to heavy rain. Unidentified officials told the news agency that two bridges were washed away, cutting off Koot and Kyav panchayats. In Lahaul and Spiti district, two more bridges were washed away in floods triggered by cloudbursts in Karpat, Changut and Udgos Nala of the Mayad valley. Incidents of cloudbursts were also reported in Shrikhand hill in the Nirmand subdivision and Bathadh hill in the Banjar subdivision in Kullu district, PTI reported. The Kurpan ravine was flooded and the administration evacuated the Bagipul market due to the extreme weather. Kullu Deputy Commissioner Torul S Ravish told the news agency that a team had left for the site and the damage is being assessed. No loss of life has been reported so far, she said, adding that several cottages had been damaged and vehicles washed away. A cloudburst also occurred in Shimla's Rampur area. A total of 325 roads have been closed in the state. The State Emergency Operation Centre said that 179 of these roads were in Mandi district and 71 in the adjoining Kullu district. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the Chamba, Kangra, and Mandi districts on Thursday. It has also issued a yellow alert for heavy rain in isolated areas from Friday to Sunday. Unidentified officials also told PTI that the state had incurred losses to the tune of Rs 2,031 crore since the onset of the monsoon on June 20. So far this monsoon, 126 persons have died in rain-related incidents in the state, while 36 were missing. The state has also seen 63 incidents of flash floods, 31 cloudbursts and 57 major landslides. Red alert in Telangana Telangana saw heavy rainfall in several districts on Wednesday, with at least three locations recording over 20 centimetres of showers overnight, The Hindu reported, citing data from the state Development Planning Society. The IMD has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in three districts – Vikarabad, Sangareddy and Medak – and an orange alert in Kamareddy, Nizamabad and Adilabad districts on Thursday. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also announced that all government and private schools within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits will function for half a day on Thursday in light of the weather, The Hindu reported.

Delhi-NCR wakes up to heavy rain, IMD issues red alert
Heavy rain lashed Delhi and parts of NCR Thursday morning, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a red alert on Thursday. According to IMD data, rain started around 2 am and continued well into the morning. The areas that received the highest amount of rainfall till 8.30 am are Ayanagar (57.4 mm), Palam (49.4 mm), Mayur Vihar (17.5 mm) and Ridge (17.4mm). As per the forecast, the city is expected to receive light to moderate rain during the day. Thunderstorms and lightning, with wind speed of up to 40 kilometres per hour per hour, are expected in New Delhi, Southwest Delhi, South Delhi, Southeast Delhi. A walkathon organised by the Delhi government from Rouse Avenue to Connaught Place ahead of the 79th Independence Day celebrations was cancelled due to the heavy rain. Gurgaon, meanwhile, saw 44 mm of rain till 8 am, as per data shared by the district administration. Neighbourhoods like Palam Vihar, Ashok Vihar Phase 3 and Sector 23A saw instances of moderate to heavy waterlogging. 'It is a very bad situation. The main roads and even the parks are totally inundated. And there is a health crisis now because the garbage lying in open plots is floating,' said Sector 23 Residents' Development and Welfare Association general secretary Bhawani Shankar Tripathy. The garbage amidst the water-logging poses risks of water-borne and vector-borne diseases, he added, stating that it is a health crime by the civic body. Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority individuals said gullies along all roads are being cleaned expeditiously, and additional pump sets will be deployed in areas the issue persists in. A municipal corporation official said workers have been deployed in affected areas. The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded as 23.6 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal. Action suggested: • Follow traffic advisories. • Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible. • Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees. • Do not touch electric open wires and avoid standing near electric poles. • Immediately get out of water bodies. • Keep away from all the objects that conduct electricity.

Orange alert for northern Uttar Pradesh districts The IMD has issued an orange alert for several northern districts of Uttar Pradesh, warning of heavy showers in Bareilly, Lakhimpur, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Bahraich, Sitapur, Shravasti, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, and Maharajganj. Rainfall intensity in the state is likely to ease from August 15, though thunderstorms and lightning are possible at isolated spots. Widespread rain warnings across northern India Monsoon activity has strengthened across northern India. The IMD has forecast extremely heavy rain in isolated parts of Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh is set to receive heavy to very heavy showers. Some areas in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana are also expected to witness heavy rainfall.
