That's good news for Robinson who wants games to get his St Mirren recruits up to speed. He's phasing 10 signings into his squad and doesn't fancy the first couple of months being any more stop-start. Robinson said: 'We want the game on because, otherwise, it does disrupt things and then you have an international break. So you have one game in, maybe, three or four weeks which isn't what we want. 'Especially with all the new players we've had in. We want game-time; we want them to see how we play. 'You can only do so much in training without things actually being executed in a proper match. So we're pleased it's on and we look forward to the match.' If Rangers' visit had been shelved, the Buddies' only action from Saturday's win over Hearts to a September 13 trip to Falkirk would've been at Hibs on August 31. Robbo needs games to get new boys to grips with his ways of working. He said: 'We're still trying to get people up to speed and still trying to find our best formation that works with this group of boys. 'We've brought wingers in who aren't quite ready to play yet. So actually having the wingers available to change the system and look at other options hasn't been afforded to us so far. 'People getting the understanding of what we want from them takes time.' Friendship on hold as managers vie for Champions League spot
Club Brugge head coach Nicky Hayen says he has a "good connection" with Rangers counterpart Russell Martin. But any friendship is likely to be put on hold during their forthcoming Champions League play-off sides meet at Ibrox on Tuesday night in the first leg with the return the following Wednesday in Belgium."I like Russell very much," Hayen, 45, told BBC Scotland. "I was in Haverfordwest County when he was in Swansea. We met each other because of Gary Richards (his former assistant at Haverfordwest who previously worked at Swansea).""I wanted to visit Swansea for two days. He allowed it. But we never found the right date. The year after, we arranged a friendly game between the two teams. The game was scheduled. Then I left the club to come to Brugge."Hayen revealed the pair exchanged regular text messages, although they actually only met in person for the first time when Brugge played Rangers this summer in a friendly at Ibrox."We spoke a lot," said Hayen. "We texted a lot. We stayed always in touch. But of course, tomorrow this doesn't count."He's a great manager. If you see the results that he got in Swansea and Southampton. It's a nice step for him over here. Of course, there's a lot of pressure. But I'm sure that he will deal with it."Club Brugge beat Salzburg to reach the play-off round. And, after making it to the round of 16 in last season's competition, Hayen is keen to progress to the league phase again this term."The team who is the best in keeping the ball, progressing, use the spaces, they will have a good chance to win the game," added Hayen.

Robert MacIntyre, Tyrrell Hatton nab Team Europe Ryder Cup spots
August 18 - Scotland's Robert MacIntyre and England's Tyrrell Hatton clinched spots on Team Europe's Ryder Cup squad with their weekend performances. MacIntyre jumped from fourth to second on the European Ryder Cup points list -- trailing only Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy -- after claiming second place at the PGA Tour's BMW Championship. Hatton maintained his fifth-place position after sharing 32nd at LIV's event in Indianapolis. McIlroy, MacIntyre, Hatton, England's Tommy Fleetwood and England's Justin Rose are assured of playing for Team Europe captain Luke Donald when the squad defends its Ryder Cup title Sept. 26-28 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. Donald's squad has one more automatic spot available, which is down to either Ireland's Shane Lowry or Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard. Hojgaard plays this week at the British Masters in his final chance to earn Ryder Cup points. If he ties for 29th or better, he will move past Lowry for the final automatic qualification spot. Lowry does not have any points opportunities remaining. Team USA already has all six of its automatic qualifiers lined up. Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun and Xander Schauffele already owned spots before last weekend's play. Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau clinched their places on Sunday.
