Transfer portal destinations for every former Wisconsin Badger
The 2025 college basketball transfer portal window closed last week, on April 22. However, movement has continued since that date, with players already in the portal still taking time to make their commitment decisions.
Wisconsin was busy throughout the transfer cycle. It started red-hot, landing commitments from top targets and hotly pursued players wing Andrew Rohde, forward Austin Rapp and guard Nick Boyd. That trio quickly completed a starting lineup that lost seniors John Tonje, Max Klesmit and Steven Crowl after the 2024-25 season. Their shared profile as versatile offensive threats with three-point shooting ability continues head coach Greg Gard's larger program initiative, one that helped 2024 transfer John Tonje deliver an All-American season.
The verdict on the Badgers' transfer movement won't be decided until the season tips off later this year. On paper, the team appears as well-equipped as ever to contend for the Big Ten title and execute a deep NCAA Tournament run.
As that plays out, there will be several former Badgers suiting up for other teams. Four scholarship players transferred out during the April transfer window. As of April 27, all four are now committed to new programs:

Sophomore point guard Daniel Freitag -- Buffalo
Senior guard Camren Hunter -- Central Arkansas
Senior forward Chris Hodges -- Montana State
Amos' departure is the most notable of the four, as he was projected to play a significant role in the team's rotation next season. His transfer shares a theme with the rest of the departures -- each exited to a program where playing time and a significant role is likely to be a guarantee.
Wisconsin's incoming transfers, Rohde, Rapp and Boyd, eliminated any path to the starting lineup. Recent additions, Aleksas Bieliauskas and Braeden Carrington, also ensured that Freitag, Hunter and Hodges were unlikely to see any meaningful playing time. Their transfer decisions were likely made with the knowledge of Wisconsin's roster plans.
Now, the Badgers patiently await a final NBA draft decision from star guard John Blackwell. His return is all that's left in the way of Gard executing what appears to be a perfect offseason.

The offer for Rule from the Spartans comes on the same day that four-star running back Damon Ferguson committed to Pitt over Michigan State. The Spartans have yet to land a running back commitment in the 2026 class and it appears Rule may be their next big target they are focusing on moving forward. MSU football set to host 3-star WR Rai'shawn Elmore for official visit this week A three-star wide receiver prospect from North Carolina is set to take an official visit to Michigan State this week. Rai'shawn Elmore of Indian Trail, N.C. will be taking an official visit to Michigan State this upcoming weekend. Elmore posted on his social media X account about the upcoming visit to Michigan State on Monday. Elmore is a three-star prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. He holds a recruiting rating of 86 on 247Sports, and ranks as the No. 195 wide receiver within the class. He is also ranked as the No. 42 player from North Carolina in the class. Michigan State is one of only a few schools to offer Elmore at this point in his recruitment. According to 247Sports, he also holds offers from East Carolina, Charlotte, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty and James Madison. Alabama picks up transfer portal commitment from in-state foe Alabama baseball picked up its fourth offseason commitment from the transfer portal on Monday. Former South Alabama infielder Brennan Holt, who spent a year at LSU and a year at Oklahoma State, announced his decision to transfer to the Crimson Tide in a post to social media. Holt joins pitchers Matthew Tippie (Texas State) and Kaden Humphrey (North Florida) and infielder Justin Osterhouse (Purdue-Fort Wayne) as players Alabama has added via the portal since its season ended with a 6-5 loss to Southern Miss at the Hattiesburg Regional of the NCAA Tournament on May 31. A product of Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, Holt spent the past two seasons at South Alabama after committing to LSU in 2020. He was rated the No. 5 overall recruit in Louisiana by Perfect Game coming out of high school. Holt spent one season with the Tigers in 2022 and appeared in five games before obtaining a medical redshirt due to injury and transferring to Oklahoma State for his sophomore season in 2023. He played in 34 games for the Cowboys and batted .173 (11-for-52). As a redshirt sophomore in 2024, Holt started all 56 games for South Alabama and batted .266 with three home runs, 15 doubles and 24 RBIs. His average rose to .303 as a junior this past season, clubbing six home runs to go with 14 doubles. Holt primarily played second base and was the Jags' leadoff hitter. He stole 29 bases over two seasons with South Alabama, which finished 23-28 overall in the Sun Belt conference this year. Alabama capped the 2025 season at 41-18 overall and were 16-14 in SEC play during the regular season in coach Rob Vaughn's second year in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide's 40 victories in the regular season marked the first time since 2002 that Alabama had posted 40 or more wins in a regular season. Alabama was the No. 2 seed at the Hattiesburg Regional and was ranked No. 20 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll entering the NCAA Tournament.
