Mediator Qatar working on resuming Gaza ceasefire talks

Mediator Qatar's said Tuesday it was working on resuming Gaza ceasefire talks in days, urging Israel not to exploit a truce with Iran to "unleash everything it wants to unleash" on the blockaded strip.
"We are still continuing our efforts, and God willing, we will try to look for an opportunity during the next two days for having indirect negotiations between the two parties... We hope that the Israeli side will not exploit the ceasefire with Iran to unleash what it wants to unleash on Gaza and continue its bombing of" the strip, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani during a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart.

Baabda Presidential Palace witnessed a series of ministerial and parliamentary meetings, addressing the general situation in Lebanon and developments in the region. At the ministerial level, President Aoun received Finance Minister Yassin Jaber, with whom he discussed matters related to his ministry. At the parliamentary level, President Aoun recieved at Baabda Palace, MP Neemat Frem, with whom he held a tour d'horizon on the current developments, especially in the region after the Israeli-Iranian confrontations. Following the meeting, MP Frem said that he discussed with the President the challenges facing Lebanon and the region. Frem added that discussions also dwelt on the need to develop the current parliamentary election law and the importance of holding elections on time, and working on a modern election law that represents sects and regions. Frem also indicated that discussions covered key livelihood dossiers, including the solid waste crisis, administrative appointments, and the port of Jounieh and its vital role. President Aoun later received MP Ahmad Khair, who said that he discussed with the President regional developments. MP Khair stressed the importance of the decision to restrict weapons to the hands of the Lebanese state. The Lawmaker also affirmed his support for President Aoun during this critical stage, which requires rallying around the state. At Baabda Palace, President Aoun met with former Minister and former MP Nabil De Freij, with whom he held a tour d'horizon on local and regional issues, as well as Beqai related affairs.

UN Rights Office: Weaponisation of Food in Gaza Constitutes War Crime
The U.N. human rights office said on Tuesday that the "weaponisation" of food for civilians in Gaza constitutes a war crime, in its strongest remarks yet on a new model of aid distribution run by an Israeli-backed organisation. Over 410 people have been killed by gunshots or shells fired by the Israeli military while trying to reach distribution sites of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation since it began work in late May, U.N. human rights spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan told reporters at a Geneva press briefing. The death toll has been independently verified by his office, he added. "Desperate, hungry people in Gaza continue to face the inhumane choice of either starving to death or risk being killed while trying to get food," he said, describing the system as "Israel's militarised humanitarian assistance mechanism". "The weaponisation of food for civilians, in addition to restricting or preventing their access to life-sustaining services, constitutes a war crime and, under certain circumstances, may constitute elements of other crimes under international law." Asked whether Israel was guilty of that war crime, he said: "The legal qualification needs to be made by a court of law." Israel rejects war crimes charges in Gaza and blames Hamas fighters for harm to civilians for operating among them, which the fighters deny.
