#NSTviral: Dashcam shows car flipping five times in highway crash
KUALA LUMPUR: A woman's terrifying car crash, which saw her vehicle flip over five times along the North-South Expressway (Plus), has gone viral, drawing both sympathy and criticism from netizens.
In a 20-second TikTok clip posted by user @ig_terry_1519, also known as Umi Athirah, dashcam footage shows her Perodua Bezza flipping multiple times after a crash on the Plus Highway near Slim River–Sungkai in Perak.
The impact left her car completely wrecked. Athirah was the only person in the vehicle, which she said she had owned for just nine months.
The accident also involved a family travelling in a Toyota Vios.
Athirah said she sustained only minor wounds, while the others escaped unhurt.
She claimed that despite the violent crash, the airbags in her Bezza did not deploy.
"I survived a deadly car crash this week. My deepest apologies to the Vios family.
"I've settled the police compound and learned my lesson.
"While I lost my car, I'm just grateful to still be here. Hoping the insurance claim, injuries, and trauma can all be sorted soon," she wrote in the caption.
The video sparked hundreds of reactions from viewers — some expressing relief, others urging safer driving habits.
"I've been driving for 12 years, and I never go over 100 (kmph). Most of the time, I stick to 90, especially on dark roads," said user @Shera.
Another user, @ainnhrrs, commented: "How did you end up hitting the Vios? Did you fall asleep? Please be more careful — there are other lives at stake, not just yours."
"What must have gone through her mind while the car was flipping? She'll probably be traumatised to drive again," wrote @ienafarina.

Pickup truck driver swerves to avoid puddle, triggers 4-vehicle pile-up
JOHOR BARU: A pickup truck driver's attempt to avoid a water puddle led to a four-vehicle pile-up along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam early this morning in an incident that has since gone viral on social media. The 5.50am crash, near Bangunan Sultan Iskandar here, involved a Toyota Hilux, a Perodua Alza, and two motorcycles. No injuries were reported. Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said a 34-year-old man was driving the Hilux when he swerved to avoid a puddle in the left lane, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an Alza on the right lane. "The impact caused the Alza to slide forward and hit two motorcycles ahead, causing both riders to fall onto the road," he said in a statement today. A video clip of the accident, shared on TikTok and Facebook by user Mulan Woon, has since garnered public attention. Police confirmed they were alerted to the viral footage at about 10.26am today. "All parties involved have lodged reports, the case is being investigated for failing to control a vehicle while driving," Raub said. He reminded all road users to exercise caution during wet conditions and to drive within safe limits, particularly in low-visibility or water-logged areas.

Car pulled from Bera river but woman still missing
BERA: The Perodua Bezza that plunged into Sungai Triang yesterday has been recovered, but the woman who was in it is still missing. District police chief Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir said Fire and Rescue Department divers from the Bukit Angin Water Rescue Unit in Temerloh retrieved the car at 12.30pm today. "The Bezza was found lying on its roof at the bottom of the river. However, the woman (Sakirah Akop) was not inside the vehicle. "The car was pulled out of the water using a cable attached to a crane. Upon inspection, we found that the transmission was in 'D' (drive) mode. "It is believed that the gear was accidentally shifted into drive, causing the vehicle to move forward and enter the river," he said when met at the Sungai Triang riverbank. Zulkiflee said initial investigations revealed the vehicle's engine was still running when it rolled down the riverbank and into the water. He said today's search and rescue operation involved 91 personnel from various agencies, including the police, Fire and Rescue Department, Civil Defence Force, soldiers from the Bera army camp, and local villagers. "The search is being conducted within a 200m radius of the incident site. Team members are scouring through uprooted trees and debris near the riverbank to locate the missing woman," he said. Yesterday, it was reported that the 31-year-old housewife and her 16-month-old daughter had accompanied her husband, a 32-year-old soldier, on a fishing trip by the river at around 1.30pm. The car suddenly rolled forward, but Sakirah managed to hand their daughter to her husband moments before the vehicle plunged into the river. She is feared drowned.
