Law enforcement officials are currently searching for suspects after the 'Battlefield Cross and Soldier' at the Paramount Armed Forces Memorial in Los Angeles County, California, was vandalized this week.
In a Wednesday post on Facebook, the City of Paramount wrote, 'We are deeply saddened and troubled to report that the 'Battlefield Cross and Soldier' art piece at the Paramount Armed Forces Memorial at the Civic Center has been vandalized and pieces have been stolen.'
According to KTLA, the Battlefield Cross and Soldier is a metal sculpture that portrays a U.S. soldier kneeling and honoring a fallen fellow soldier. The fallen soldier is represented by a rifle with a military helmet, which forms a common military symbol known as the 'Soldier's Cross.' KTLA reported that the Battlefield Cross and Soldier at the Paramount Armed Forces Memorial was first unveiled in November of 2024.

KTLA reported that the individuals responsible for the recent vandalism incident not only caused damage to the military memorial in Los Angeles County but also appear to have stolen the bronze rifle that was featured as part of the Battlefield Cross and Soldier.
'This is a shameful act of disrespect to those who risked their lives protecting our country and freedoms, as this memorial stands as a symbol of honor and their sacrifice,' the City of Paramount wrote in Wednesday's Facebook post. The city added, 'Let's stand together to protect the memory of our heroes, #Paramount.'
The City of Paramount encouraged anyone with information regarding the recent vandalism incident to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Lakewood Station at 562-623-3500 to help law enforcement officials identify the people responsible for the military memorial vandalism.

Mother rescues her 6-year-old son from coyote attack at SoCal park

A little boy in Carson had a scary encounter with Mother Nature this week when he was attacked by a coyote at a softball game, leaving him with bites and scratches that required stitches. Enoch Palomar, 6, was at Del Amo park to watch his sister play in a softball tournament on Monday when the coyote attacked him. 'It just kept biting me and I was trying to kick it,' Enoch told news station KTLA-TV. 'It was too fast and it just jumped. I was trying my hardest and then it didn't work, and then I yelled.' The attack unfolded in the background of a video being shot by a parent of the softball game. Video of the incident shows Enoch in the distance near a playground, screaming in panic and struggling to get up as the coyote scratched and bit him. 'I was like, 'Get up, get up!'' she said. 'I was just hysterical.' After the attack, the coyote trotted away, and Enoch was quite shaken. Doctors patched up his leg with 20 stitches, KTLA reported. The coyote also bit his head, neck and scratched other parts of the boy's body. Palomar's mother reported the attack to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the boy's clothing was collected as part of an investigation. While coyotes are a common fixture in many Southern California neighborhoods, the canines are typically skittish and avoid interactions with humans, according to Fish and Wildlife. But they are opportunists when it comes to food and will become conditioned to relying on trash left behind by humans, especially in areas bordering on their habitats or dens. ‘Worst' Amazon driver angers shoppers — after shockingly careless home delivery is caught on camera

What a tosser. A North Carolina family was shocked when footage from their home security system captured what's being dubbed one of the worst Amazon delivery performances in recent memory. The now-viral doorbell camera video, filmed in Cabarrus County, shows the driver delivering packages with an alarming lack of care. 3 A now-viral doorbell camera video captured what's being dubbed one of the worst Amazon delivery performances in recent memory. One of the packages appears unstable, prompting the driver to roughly shove it back up the steps instead of placing it with care. He then lingers briefly at the porch, scanning a smaller package in his hand before walking away —seemingly unfazed by the mess he just made. The commotion startled the family, who were home at the time and heard a loud bang outside. When they stepped out to investigate, they discovered their packages strewn across the porch, some left precariously perched on the edge of the stairs. 3 Instead of walking up to the porch and placing the items by the door, the unidentified driver casually drops multiple boxes from a distance, letting them crash onto the steps and scatter across the entryway. Queen City News Disturbed by the incident, the family — who have chosen to remain anonymous — decided to release the footage to raise awareness about what they consider unacceptable delivery behavior. The video has since sparked outrage online, with many viewers calling it one of the worst displays of delivery etiquette they've ever seen. Yet, this isn't the worst-behaved Amazon delivery driver the world has seen. A mischievous employee was axed earlier this year after she was caught on home surveillance video relieving herself on two front porches while dropping off packages in Los Angeles. The gross stunt took place in the city's Woodland Hills area, with the unnamed driver caught literally with her pants down, according to KTLA-TV News. 'We're deeply disturbed by the unacceptable behavior of this delivery driver and apologize to the customers involved,' Amazon officials said in a statement to the outlet. 'We immediately identified the driver and they are no longer delivering on behalf of Amazon.' While that Amazon driver left an unwanted package, others have been caught taking them. 3 One of the packages appears unstable, prompting the driver to roughly shove it back up the steps instead of placing it with care. Queen City News A man captured the moment an Amazon delivery driver appeared to steal the package he'd just delivered. Matthew Perry, 29, ordered a Bluetooth device for his car and a workout bench from Amazon, which cost $15 in total. In the video, the delivery driver puts the package down and walks around the corner. But 30 seconds later, he returns to retrieve the items before running down the garden path. Perry was at work while his package was delivered and said he was shocked that someone would jeopardize their job for a $15 package.

Teen detained after other juvenile has bottle broken over head during fight at closed park

Two teenagers were hospitalized, including one who had a bottle broken over their head, when a fight broke out during a gathering at a park in Santa Clarita, authorities said. Per the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the group of teenagers began gathering at Pacific Crest Park, located along Garnet Canyon Drive and adjacent to Mountainview Elementary School, late Saturday night. 'A 911 call came out from residents in the area just before 11 p.m.,' a department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA. Pacific Crest Park closes at 10:30 p.m. every night. Shooting reported at large house party near USC campus It was said by LASD that sometime during the gathering, a fight broke out, leading to a male juvenile being detained for smashing a bottle over someone else's head. That victim was taken to a hospital with injuries described as 'non-life-threatening' by deputies. Another juvenile was transported with unspecified injuries. Video obtained by KTLA shows deputies detaining the male juvenile at gunpoint and being placed into the back of a squad car near the entrance to an In-N-Out drive-thru. LASD did not explicitly state how or when he got there. Woman mauled to death by dogs near Southern California park Further footage from the scene shows deputies detaining the teenager and questioning multiple others about what transpired in front of a swing set at the park. A broken bottle and several other alcoholic beverages were seen scattered in the grass and on the curb. There is video circulating on social media that shows the alleged incident. (Warning: The video contains profanity and may be hard for some to watch.) The post caption claims local homeowners are 'frustrated by months of lawlessness' at the park. No further information on the altercation, victims or detainee was immediately provided by law enforcement. This is the second incident involving a large group of teens getting into a fight in as many days; several juveniles were injured in an altercation outside a movie theater in Simi Valley just after midnight Friday, police there said.
