Several major cruise lines cater to families and wide demographics, so entertainment options are plentiful for everyone.Traveling with family? Having fun on waterslides, playing games in arcades, or teeing up at mini golf may suit parents with their younger kids, while grandparents may prefer playing trivia and a cup of coffee or tea.

Cruise lines always seek to accommodate evolving passenger preferences, and traveling solo is one rising trend that popular cruise lines such as Norwegian, Celebrity Cruises, and Virgin Voyages are watching.
Data from both cruise and land-based travel industries indicates that solo travel has seen significant growth and is expected to maintain its upward momentum.
Vacationers preferring solo trips may want more flexibility or time to self-reflect and rejuvenate. Whatever the reasons for this shift, cruise lines are catering to this evolving market.Norwegian Cruise Line is arguably doing the best job of making it easier and more attractive to set sail solo than ever before.
Norwegian offers accommodations for solo travelers throughout its entire fleet. Solo staterooms have been available since 2010 on the Norwegian Epic, making it the first major cruise line to offer this type of stateroom option.
With the rise in solo travel, last year, the cruise line began to expand its stateroom options across its fleet, and the options are not limited to one stateroom category.
Norwegian's solo cabin's include Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony, giving independent travelers many options to fit their preferences and budgets.
It has made a major improvement for travelers who want to sail on their own by also offering staterooms based on single occupancy. In the past, cruisers had to pay for double-occupancy, even if booking for only themselves. Typically, solo travelers will pay less, depending on the time of year and the destination.
And Norwegian is catering to solo travelers in other ways.
The cruise line offers guests who are staying in Norwegian's Studio staterooms exclusive access to the Studio Lounge, offering a space for socializing while grabbing complimentary coffee and snacks.
Dining alone can be awkward, but so can dining with a bunch of strangers. Norwegian offers freestyle dining, giving flexibility to dine alone or with other passengers. With this model, there are no fixed dining times or pre-assigned seating, so passengers can choose on a daily basis.

What Virgin Voyages and Celebrity Cruises are doing for solo travelers
Celebrity Cruises has introduced solo accommodations on its most recent Edge class ships: the Edge, the Apex, the Beyond, and the Ascent. Cabin options for one person include the Edge Infinite Verandas and Inside Staterooms. These rooms include the same amenities as double-occupancy and differ only in being slightly smaller.
Celebrity Cruises also hosts a welcome reception and group dining option to help solo travelers connect with others.
Virgin Voyages is joining the competition for attracting solo travelers this year and has dropped the rate for Sea Terrace cabins on select voyages, offering up to 70% off the second fare.In addition, Virgin Voyages offers a range of social activities for individuals traveling alone, such as bar crawls, group fitness, and onboard games.

If you're planning a trip and see Newark Liberty on your itinerary, here's what you should know before committing to a layover there. If you've traveled through Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), you probably don't need a study to tell you it's not the smoothest place to transit through. But just in case you needed the data to back up the feeling, several recent reports confirm it: Newark is one of the worst-ranked airports in the United States. Between chronic delays, an outdated layout, and a frustrating passenger experience that even a billion-dollar renovation hasn't fully resolved, it's no surprise that EWR consistently appears near the bottom of travel satisfaction surveys. If you're planning a trip and have a choice of where to connect, there are plenty of reasons to steer clear of Newark. What the rankings say According to an August 2024 study by Whitley Law Firm, Newark Liberty ranked as the third-worst airport in the United States. The study analyzed Google reviews and factored in key traveler pain points such as flight delays, cancellations, and service satisfaction. Only Aspen/Pitkin County Airport in Colorado and Santa Fe Municipal Airport in New Mexico ranked worse, but those are much smaller regional airports. Colorado Music Festival musician pursues heights of Colorado, Florida
The Colorado Music Festival brings together exceptional musicians from 44 orchestras across the country and around the world. For four weeks, they live and play in Boulder, performing a packed calendar of four concerts each week. Under the baton of Music Director Peter Oundijian, the orchestra plays to a high standard and has become a world-class creative experience. "This is a great orchestra to play with," said Andrew Karr, Assistant Principal and 3rd horn. "It's made up of musicians from around the country, so it's high level. We're on a tight schedule, so we prepare at a really high level, which I enjoy." For Karr, playing in an orchestra is a childhood dream come true. He lives and plays with the Florida Orchestra in Tampa, Florida. In 2000, he auditioned to be a part of the Colorado Music Festival, and he's been coming to Colorado ever since. "When I first arrived in Colorado, I had zero experience with outdoor stuff," he told CBS News Colorado. Then, like most people who spend time in the state, he heard the call of the 14'ers. "I was really taken by the beauty and the challenge," he explained. "Particularly, I was taken by the concept of doing peaks that were on lists. I think there's something about that for a classical musician because we work so methodically in our profession. There was something about having something methodical I could do outside in the mountains that really sort of appealed to me." He's checked off a fair few 14'ers, but he was missing his list when he was back home. "So I started visiting the high point of each county in Florida," Karr said. He travelled across the state meeting landowners and mapping locations. He said he even needed to learn to kayak to reach islands that held that high point. "I decided that my last county in Florida would be the high point of Florida, which is Britton Hall, which is all of 340 feet about sea level," Karr recalled. Florida is finished now, but Karr keeps climbing in Colorado. "For me, the pursuit is as much as the successful completion," Karr said. From Beethoven to Bierstadt, Karr is pursuing new heights every single summer.
