Belmont Stakes 2025: Post position draw results and morning line odds
We're just days away from the final leg of the 2025 Triple Crown and it's already setting up as a thrilling conclusion.
No, there won't be a chance to see the first Triple Crown winner since Justify in 2018, but we'll get the next-best thing: a rematch between the winners of the Kentucky Derby (Sovereignty) and the Preakness Stakes (Journalism) with the latter hoping to avenge a runner-up finish at Churchill Downs.
With Belmont Park in Elmont, New York still undergoing renovations, the race will once again be held at Saratoga Race Course upstate. Here's how they'll line up in the starting gate.

Watt Lead Rankings Published Aug. 20, 2025 6:32 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link Every great NFL defense seems to have a top-tier pass rusher wreaking havoc on the field, but which ones are the very best? We polled our FOX Sports NFL writers to answer that question, with each ranking the top 10 pass rushers in the league entering the 2025 season. The top two vote-getters are the exact same from last year's top 10 list , and there are two brand-new names in the top 10. So, let's take a look at how our writers ranked the top 10 pass rushers in the league as we begin to unveil our top players at several positions before the 2025 season kicks off. 2025 Best NFL Pass Rushers Jared Verse won AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2024. (Photo by) Carmen Vitali: Verse may have been somewhat of an unknown throughout the season outside Los Angeles, but after winning Defensive Rookie of the Year, he has catapulted into the mainstream discourse and began solidifying himself as one of the league's best defensive linemen. Verse only had 4.5 sacks last year, but he registered 18 QB hits, 11 tackles for loss and forced two fumbles. If that's what Verse is capable of in his first year in the league, there's no telling where his ceiling is going forward. ADVERTISEMENT 2024 rank: Unranked Will Anderson Jr. totaled 11 sacks in 2024. (Photo by) Ben Arthur: After two strong seasons, Anderson is starting to get recognized as one of the league's elite edge rushers. The reality is that he's just now scratching the surface of how good he can be. The 23-year-old saw his sack total jump to 11.0 last season from 7.0 in 2023, when he won AP Defensive Rookie of the Year. He's a high-motor player that's very good in the run game as well (tied for ninth with 16 tackles for loss last season). 2024 rank: Unranked Danielle Hunter totaled 12 sacks in 2024 during his first season in Houston. (Photo by) Arthur: Hunter is on the wrong side of 30 — he turns 31 this season — but he's still playing at an elite level late in his career. The former third-round pick has recorded double-digit sacks in each of the past three seasons, including 28.5 across the past two years with the Texans. He tied Micah Parsons for a league-best 19.1% pressure rate last season among qualified defensive linemen, according to Next Gen Stats. 2024 Rank: 7th (-1) Nick Bosa, a five-time Pro Bowler, won AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2022. (Photo by) Eric D. Williams: Bosa remains a dominant force up front for San Francisco defensively. He finished with a team-leading 54 pressures and averaged the quickest pass rush get-off of his career (0.69 seconds) in 2024, per Next Gen Stats. However, the 27-year-old also averaged a career-low pressure rate of 15.3% last season, generating more than five pressures in a game twice last season after accomplishing that at least five times in every season he has played at least 10 games. Bosa's 62.5 career sacks are third-most in 49ers franchise history. 2024 rank: 5th (-2) Aidan Hutchinson totaled 11.5 sacks in 2023, and is looking to bounce back after sustaining a season-ending injury in 2024. (Photo by) Vitali: We saw the stress Hutchinson's injury put on defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn in Detroit last season. After Hutch went down, the Lions blitz rate kept going up — it had to. They could no longer win at the line of scrimmage with just four without Hutchinson. That, in turn, put more stress on the secondary, and it's no wonder the defense fell apart in their first postseason game, even after getting the first-round bye. Hutchinson was on a historic pace last year, too. At the rate he was going, he would have finished with 25.5 sacks if he had stayed healthy. There's no doubt about his impact on this defense and his place among the NFL's elite edge rushers. Here's to hoping he's fully healthy coming off injury this season. 2024 rank: 9th (+3) Trey Hendrickson led the NFL with 17.5 sacks last season. (Photo by) Greg Auman: All the headlines are about his contract issues with Cincinnati, but he has had a remarkable second chapter to his NFL career there: four Pro Bowls in four years and 57.0 sacks. Since 2021, only Myles Garrett (60) and T.J. Watt (58.5) have more sacks. What's incredible is that Hendrickson had 6.5 total sacks three years into his NFL career — the fewest total for any of the 45 players with 100 career sacks is William Fuller, who had 11.5. Hendrickson is 30, but needs only 23.0 sacks to join that fraternity — an easy two year's work by his recent standards. If the Bengals want any shot at an improved defense to help them get back in the playoffs, it likely has to start with working something out with Hendrickson. 2024 rank: 8th (+3) Maxx Crosby has led the NFL twice in tackles for loss. (Photo by) Henry McKenna: The 27-year-old missed time with an ankle injury last year but hasn't fallen far in our rankings. I'm excited to see what head coach Pete Carroll can do with the elite edge player. It might just be a career year in the making for Crosby, who posted 14.5 sacks in his last full season in 2023. Could he be hunting for 20.0 this year? 2024 rank: 3rd (no change) Micah Parsons has been voted to the Pro Bowl in all four years of his NFL career. (Photo by) Ralph Vacchiano: He will likely get a new contract that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in the game, and with good reason. There might not be a more complete defender in the game today. Parsons' sideline-to-sideline speed and pursuit are unmatched among linebackers. He can cover when necessary too. Even though he's not turned loose as an edge rusher all the time, he's great at it when he is. He's had 52.5 sacks in his four seasons — including 12.0 in just 13 games last year. He's a defensive weapon that every coach has to game-plan against, which isn't easy because he can wreck offenses while lining up just about anywhere on the field. 2024 rank: 4th (+1) T.J. Watt has led the NFL in sacks in three separate seasons, and won AP Defensive Player of the Year in 2021. (Photo by) Auman: Watt just got a massive, well-earned extension after leading the league in sacks three times over the past five years. He'll likely pass his brother, J.J. Watt, in career sacks sometime this season, and with seven Pro Bowls, he's a future Hall of Famer. There's one glaring void in his résumé: postseason relevance. Only 30 players in NFL history have more sacks than Watt, and all of them have played more than his four career playoff games. Myles Garrett only has three, so Watt isn't alone, but he deserves to not only make the playoffs but experience his first playoff win with Pittsburgh this season. Now, will he? 2024 rank: 2nd (no change) Myles Garrett totaled a league-leading 22 tackles for loss last season. (Photo by) Auman: Will Garrett end up as the next Joe Thomas, a Hall of Fame career spent without any real playoff experience in Cleveland? Garrett has had at least 14.0 sacks in four consecutive years, is already at 102.5 for his career and his new four-year, $160 million contract has him locked up in Cleveland through the 2030 season. Only two players in NFL history have more than 160 sacks, and he has a real shot at joining that group. Even 10.0 sacks a year through the end of his current contract would do that. Garrett boasts six Pro Bowls and four first-team All-Pro nods through his eight seasons, but will he ever see a conference championship game? For six years, the legend has slumbered while wild stories spiral around it, twisting and expanding and entwining. New words have been born and old words infused with evolved meanings: Believer. Doubter. Silkpost. The lies have grown so thick they've become corporeal, spreading trickery with a name and a dead smile. For six years, the legend has slept while the masses roiled, all of them waiting for the signal to awaken and know truth. All of them waiting for a bell that will ring, finally and clearly, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Skong . Skong . Skong . It's a special time in the Silksong subreddit. After years of silence around its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong , Team Cherry has scheduled a livestream with a 'special announcement' about the game for August 21 at 10:30AM ET. Not only is this exciting for Metroidvania fans everywhere, but it's also possible that this announcement marks the final moments of the Silksong subreddit as we know it. A strange cocktail of game delays, inconsistent updates and hyper-focused cult fandom has cultivated a fascinating little universe in r/Silksong, complete with its own rules, villains and heroes. It's a place where clown wigs are commonplace and contributors have turned trolling into a role-playing artform. A LARPform, if you will. It's a place that's consistently made me laugh every time it's appeared in my feed over the past year or so. Ahead of Thursday's special announcement, this sub is experiencing the last gasps of desperate myth-making and hopeless anticipation before it transforms into something else entirely, armed with actual information about the sequel, gameplay videos and maybe even a firm release date. Or, dare I say it, a surprise launch. For just a moment longer in r/Silksong, anything is possible. And then it'll be over. No matter what happens during Thursday's livestream, the day will come when Silksong comes out and the drip-feed of silkposts dries up completely. But for now, our face paint is ready. The news News from ONL 2025 Gamescom 2025 kicked off on Tuesday with Opening Night Live, a showcase hosted by Geoff Keighley and the folks behind The Game Awards, and there were plenty of delightful morsels on display. Engadget UK Bureau Chief Mat Smith is on the ground at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, to play upcoming titles and talk to developers, but for now, here are our headlines straight out of ONL 2025: And our headlines from Gamescom 2025 so far: Gamescom 2025 runs through August 24. ROG Xbox Ally lands in October Microsoft is slowly establishing its handheld era with news that the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X will be available on October 16. There's still no official word on how much they'll cost, but there are hints: As spotted by Wario64, Best Buy recently listed the Xbox Ally at $550 and the Xbox Ally X at $900, and these fall in line with our predictions, which were based on the prices of existing ROG Ally handhelds. Alongside the release date, Microsoft announced the Handheld Compatibility Program, an initiative aimed at optimizing games for portable devices and informing players about how well they perform. It's essentially Steam Deck Verified, but for Xbox handhelds, and it's yet another sign that Microsoft's portable gaming ambitions stretch beyond just one hardware manufacturer. The PS5 will cost more tomorrow than it does today First Nintendo and Microsoft raised the prices of their latest consoles, and now it's Sony's turn. Sony on Wednesday announced the following price increases for the PS5 family: Standard PS5 with a disc drive: $550, up from $500 PS5 digital edition: $500, up from $450 PS5 Pro: $750, up from $700 Sony blames the increases on a 'challenging economic environment,' echoing sentiments from its contemporaries. The price hikes come at a time in the hardware generation when we're used to seeing consoles get cheaper, which just makes this whole thing more frustrating. There have been signs of turmoil at BioShock 4 studio Cloud Chamber for a while now, including news earlier this month that the game failed a review with 2K executives and was due for a complete narrative revamp. Now, we're seeing even more fallout. Former Gears of War and Diablo head Rod Fergusson has left Blizzard to lead development of BioShock 4 at Cloud Chamber, and his appointment comes alongside news that 80 people at the studio are being laid off. This is actually the second time Fergusson has joined the development of a BioShock game at the last second — he similarly swooped in and cut aspects of BioShock: Infinite at Irrational Games in 2012. The race through development hell between Judas and BioShock 4 continues. Blizzard's cinematic and narrative team is unionizing Microsoft is the home of another video game union. Workers with Blizzard Entertainment's Story and Franchise Development team, which handles in-game cinematics and lore for titles including Overwatch and World of Warcraft , voted this week to unionize under the Communications Workers of America. This covers about 169 developers and it marks the fourth unionization effort from Microsoft's gaming teams, joining QA workers at Activision, ZeniMax and Raven Software. Steam censorship is breaking PayPal PayPal isn't a valid way to buy games on Steam in certain countries any longer. Steam in July removed hundreds of games with adult and NSFW themes from its storefront, and updated its policies to ban "content that may violate the rules and standards' of its payment processors. This was incredibly vague and raised immediate concerns around financial censorship, especially when combined with a related culling of thousands of games from Now, it's confirmed that PayPal has terminated its partnership with Steam in multiple countries, affecting any denomination ' other than EUR, CAD, GBP, JPY, AUD and USD.' Valve says it's being pressured by payment processors including Visa, MasterCard and PayPal to remove certain games and implement puritanical censorship policies, and this has already resulted in at least one game being unjustly removed from the platform. That game, VILE: Exhumed , is now available as shareware. Roblox is changing its rules after so, so many child-safety lawsuits Roblox is locking down its system for sharing and viewing user-generated games following a wave of lawsuits accusing developers of failing to protect their young userbase. All unrated experiences, or user-created games, will be restricted to the developer and anyone actively working on them, rather than being available to anyone over the age of 13, as is currently the case. This change and others, including a new system that automatically detects and tracks "violative scenes" on individual servers, will roll out over the coming months.
