Over 28,000 petitions received at Ungaludan Stalin camps in Coimbatore
As part of the initiative, a total of 336 camps are scheduled in the district, with 120 being conducted in the first phase between July 15 and August 15. These include 25 camps within Corporation limits, 35 in municipalities, 20 in town panchayats, and 36 in village panchayats.
According to the district administration, of the 28,262 petitions received, 2,707 were resolved on the spot. Officials said the remaining petitions are expected to be processed within 45 days.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is hospitalised in Chennai since June 21, reviewed the camp arrangements via video call from the hospital on Wednesday. During the call, he interacted with a petitioner and spoke with District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, who was at Rajalakshmi Marriage Hall in Ward 7 in Coimbatore city, where one of the camps was arranged.
The Collector informed the Chief Minister that the highest number of petitions received in the district were related to the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, followed by patta services. He added that when a specific issue is repeatedly raised in a particular locality, it is being fast-tracked for resolution.

T.N.'s policy for transgender persons advocates for amending Hindu Succession Act over inheritance
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday released the Tamil Nadu State Policy for Transgender Persons 2025. The policy said that the State would take steps to amend the Hindu Succession Act, Indian Succession Act, among others, to ensure right of inheritance to transgender and intersex persons. 'The State will initiate action to ensure that laws against gender-based violence by family members, intimate partners and others are implemented effectively,' one of the provisions in the policy said. The State would ensure that all educational institutions would change the name and gender in academic certificates of transgender and transpersons, as per the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019. The policy further said that the State would provide preference to transgender and intersex persons under affordable housing schemes and provision of free house site pattas. 'The State will facilitate short-stay homes for transgender and intersex persons.' In another event, the CM virtually inaugurated new buildings constructed by the Police and Fire and Rescue Services Departments at a total cost of ₹45 crore. He also unveiled the foundation for the construction of buildings in the central prison campus in Madurai to be constructed at a cost of ₹229 crore. The CM also virtually inaugurated new buildings constructed by the Registration and Commercial Taxes Departments at a total cost of ₹27 crore. Ministers Duraimurugan, E.V. Velu, S. Regupathy, S. Muthusamy, P. Geetha Jeevan, P. Moorthy and M. Mathiventhan, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam and senior officials were present on the occasion.

Policy for transgender persons welcomed
Welcoming the policy announcement for transgender persons released by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Thursday, members of the Transgender Resource Centre celebrated the moment by cutting a cake. The members said that they have been fighting for their rights all these years and it had fetched fruits now. Priya Babu, the founder of the Centre, said that it was a significant day and thanked the Chief Minister and the government officials. The population of transgenders stands at 4.88 lakh at the national level and there were 22,364 transgenders in Tamil Nadu. With the issuance of identity cards for transpersons, Aadhaar card, family card and among others, the policy would help them in a long way. The policy would also help shape the transgender persons on education, provide fair equal opportunities in employment, healthcare, to form families of their choice and among others. The policy's objective would be to empower transgenders and intersex persons to realise their full potential. Also, it would ensure government departments, public authorities and private stakeholders to extend inclusive and non-discriminatory treatment to the transgenders.
