CAFE targets follow a linear weightbased approach
Framework gives heavier vehicles more relaxed absolute CO2 limits
Smaller cars get a much more stringent target
Target on fuel economy (miles per gallon) based on car footprint (square feet) of the car
Follows a piece-wise linear approach
Comparatively relaxed targets for smaller cars
CHINA Target on fuel consumption (l/100 km) based on curb weight of the car
Follows a piece-wise linear approach
Target does not keep on tightening indefinitely for smaller, lighter cars
Live Events
Target on fuel economy (km per liter) based on the curb weight of the car
Smaller, lighter cars are not subjected to increasingly stricter targets as weight reduces
OEMs get extra advantage of 5–7g/km in their CAFÉ performance
Based on sales ratio of small cars in their portfolio
Target on fuel economy (km per liter) based on curb weight
Follows a non-linear (quadratic curve)
Small light-weight cars are not subjected to disproportionately higher targets
Bigger cars have a lower absolute CO2 target
Smaller cars have relaxed targets

India is in the process of holding consultations ahead of the formalisation of CAFE ( Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency ) 3 norms, scheduled to come into force from April 1, 2027.India currently caps average emissions of all passenger vehicles weighing less than 3,500 kg sold by each manufacturer at 113 gm of carbon dioxide per kilometre. This means that some models can have higher emissions if the manufacturer has fuel-efficient vehicles in its portfolio.A car's CO2 emissions are directly proportional to the amount of fuel it consumes. Here is a look at the regulations followed globally across all major automotive markets , including the US, China, Japan, Korea, and Europe. As per the report titled 'Deep Dive into Global Practices on CAFE Regulations' by Nomura, India must reform CAFE regulations as light-weighting, a key decarbonisation strategy , is disincentivised In India. India must adopt global best practices like footprint-based or piece-wise linear models to ensure equitable treatment of small cars and support affordable low-emission mobility

Dubbed the 'Beijing Military City,' this sprawling fortress has left global analysts on edge. Covering nearly three miles, the facility includes a nuclear-proof bunker, prompting speculation that it may serve as a future wartime command center. With satellite images showing major progress since early 2022, many now believe this could be part of China's 2027 military reform goals amid rising global just outside the capital, the Beijing Military City isn't your average defense installation. Satellite imagery cited by Visegrad Post shows that what was once a mix of residential buildings and empty land has now been completely cleared to make way for a colossal military compound. Between 2022 and mid-2024, construction picked up pace. While official details remain under wraps — as expected from China's secretive military — the size and structure suggest something far beyond a standard a nuclear-resistant underground facility, it's not hard to see why security experts believe this could serve as a central military command bunker in the event of World War 3 or other large-scale development isn't happening in isolation. China has been actively reshaping its military with ambitions to fully modernize by 2027. The construction of such a vast, fortified structure sends a powerful signal at a time when tensions with nations like the United States, India, and Taiwan continue to no official Chinese government statement confirms the site's full purpose, the combination of size, location, and secrecy has led many to believe that China is actively preparing for potential global conflict — or at least planning for large-scale defense coordination in extreme military mega-city follows a clear pattern in China's growing global assertiveness. Not only is China boosting its military presence at home, but it's also expanding its diplomatic footprint abroad. One such example is the controversial "super embassy" near the Tower of London, which is now expected to move forward despite heavy political pushback in the to the Sunday Times, the UK's Planning Inspectorate has quietly approved the embassy project. A final decision from Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner is expected before September, likely to trigger a judicial proposed embassy — several times larger than the Royal Albert Hall — sits at Royal Mint Court, right next to the Tower of London, and has caused alarm among UK and US intelligence officials in both the UK and US have raised serious red flags. The White House told the Sunday Times it's 'deeply concerned about providing China with potential access to the sensitive communications of one of our closest allies.'Kemi Badenoch, the UK's Conservative Party leader, echoed these concerns, urging the government to block the project, labeling China an 'adversary' and citing warnings from the head of MI5 about China's 'epic scale' espionage these concerns, the embassy project was revived after President Xi Jinping reportedly intervened directly, as per a report from City AM. Chinese officials have defended the move, accusing 'anti-China elements' of spreading fear and timing and scale of these two high-profile projects — a nuclear military base at home and a super-sized embassy abroad — suggest a coordinated strategy. Whether it's fortifying its capital or increasing its diplomatic muscle in London, China is positioning itself for a more dominant role on the global moves reflect more than just infrastructure growth — they represent China's broader intent to be prepared, influential, and secure in a world growing increasingly a fortified military city rising in Beijing and controversial embassy projects sparking geopolitical tension abroad, questions about China's long-term intentions are intensifying. Are these just precautionary developments, or are they part of something bigger? As 2027 draws near — the year China has set to complete its military modernization — the global community is left wondering: Is China simply preparing for defense, or are we watching the quiet build-up to the next major global conflict?Only time — and further transparency — will tell.
