Save £40 on Harry Potter Studios tour and lunch for the family this summer holiday
With the summer holidays now in full swing, it's time to start planning cost-effective ways to keep the little ones busy, and what better way to do that than with some real life magic? Thanks to Virgin Experience Days, you can currently save £40 on a tour of Warner Bros Studio The Making of Harry Potter for a family of three, and on top of that, you'll get a lovely afternoon tea included in the price.
The current offer is available to book via the Virgin Experience Days website, and gives you full access to the entire Harry Potter Studios tour, bringing the magic of the beloved film to life for your little ones (and the adults too!). The package includes access for two adults and one child, and works out almost £40 cheaper than if you book directly through the Warner Bros Studio website.
When booking directly with Warner Bros, it would set you back £112 for two adult tickets (£56 each) and £45 for a child aged between five and 15, although children under four go free. If you want to book a true magical experience, you can add on Afternoon Tea at the Hogwarts Table, which starts at £39.95 per person, bringing your total for three people up to £276.85.
However, when booking via Virgin Experience Days, you can get the The Making of Harry Potter Tour and Lunch for Two Adults and One Child for £238, making it £38.85 cheaper. However, the one caveat is that the included two course lunch isn't on site at the studios – it's situated at The Shendish Manor Hotel just five miles away.
Whilst it may not have the same magic as dining in the Great Hall, the hotel is an experience in its own right, with160 acres of parkland and formal gardens to explore, making it an additional day out for the family. If you would rather take a seat at the Hogwarts table, Virgin Experience Days also has plenty of other Harry Potter experience options, which include set options for one adult and one child, one adult and two children, not to mention an epic adventure on the Hogwarts Express, with a Scottish Highlands tour by train.
Elsewhere Red Letter Days also offers plenty of different Harry Potter experiences that range from walking tours around the real life filming locations, to tours of the Warner Bros Studio sets. Visit Britain also offers an affordable Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour with return transfer from £119.
However if you want to make a full day of it, head over to Virgin Experience Days. The The Making of Harry Potter Tour and Lunch for Two Adults and One Child is available for £238 now.

Meghan Markle 'warned' after being 'called out' by A-lister as she calculates next move
Meghan has been warned after a big name appeared to call out the Duchess of Sussex in a recent interview Meghan Markle has reportedly been "warned" after she was "called out" by an A-lister in a media interview recently. The Duchess of Sussex has been cautioned not to "challenge" Martha Stewart, who is a household name in the US. The caution follows the Hollywood star's apparent critique of the 43-year-old in a recent interview. Meghan's Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, and her brand, As Ever, have both received mixed responses. Last month, it was announced that the ex-actress would be filming a second series of her recent Netflix programme where she bakes and cooks from scratch, as well as creates homemade items like candles and bath salts. Martha, 83, an entrepreneur, TV personality, and lifestyle guru, wasn't afraid to ruffle some feathers while admitting to Yahoo Lifestyle that she hopes Meghan "knows what she's talking about" while questioning her "authenticity." "Meghan, I don't really know very well," Martha told the outlet when asked how she felt about public figures building lifestyle brands. "I hope she knows what she's talking about." She went on: "Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important." Speaking on Talk TV, Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield advised Meghan against confronting the TV titan. "This is a tough cookie," she said. "You don't go head-to-head with Martha Stewart. You don't challenge her. "If Martha is critical of Meghan, she has to sit back and take it because not only has Martha built her own brand from the ground up, she's lived through so many tough experiences." Martha didn't appear to have a problem with Gwyneth Paltrow, actress-turned-lifestyle guru, though, who launched her wellness and lifestyle brand, Goop, as a homespun weekly newsletter from her kitchen in 2008. "Gwyneth has been very successful," she said of the Goop founder. "She created quite an interesting body of businesses. She's admired. She won an Oscar for heaven's sake as an actress! She's pretty powerful." Seeming unfazed by the competition, she added: "I don't mind. Good luck." It comes amid reports that to Meghan Markle now that she's landed a loftier title, according to a friend. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Sophie, formerly the Countess of Wessex, secured the promotion when her husband, Prince Edward, was bestowed with his own new title to allow her to enjoy the prestigious name of Duchess of Edinburgh. Prior to this, Meghan, as the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry's wife, would have been higher in rank, meaning that royal protocol stipulated that Sophie had to curtsey to her at royal events. The royal, whose husband is the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was reportedly "relieved" that she "no longer" had to abide by this particularly strict tradition, a friend of hers told reporters.

Erling Haaland responds to Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly at last after being 'mocked'
Erling Haaland and Myles Lewis-Skelly have enjoyed a tense relationship when facing off as rivals in the Premier League and the Manchester City star has responded to the Arsenal ace's celebration Erling Haaland has finally spoken out over the moment Arsenal star Myles Lewis-Skelly copied his celebration to mock him last season. And the Manchester City sharpshooter has delivered an understated response to an action that provoked plenty of chatter back in February. The duo developed a tense relationship on the pitch in the two Premier League matches they faced each other last season. Haaland asked his opponent 'who the f*** are you?' in a tempestuous match at the beginning of the season which saw City score a 98th minute equaliser. The Norwegian striker's fiery remark came upon Lewis-Skelly's debut on an afternoon where he also told Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to 'stay humble'. The flashpoint was not a moment teenage star Lewis-Skelly would quickly forget. And when the sides faced off at the Emirates and the England interntional scored in a 5-1 drubbing of Pep Guardiola's team, he made sure to make a dig at at Haaland. The youngster replicated his rival's lotus pose, meditation celebration. It was a moment that prompted plenty of laughter and a degree of criticism. Reflecting on the incident, Haaland was more blase than most however. "They won the game 5-1. So yeah, they got me," he told TIME. "If he wanted to use that moment to mock me, that's fair enough for him. Whatever he wants to do, he can do." It was not the first time that Haaland had seen his celebration used against him. While still playing for Borussia Dortmund, Neymar produced it to hit out at him, while the whole Paris Saint-Germain team replicated it at full-time of the same match. Haaland remains unperturbed. "If he wanted to use that moment to mock me, that's fair enough for him. Whatever he wants to do, he can do." The giant striker will make up part of Manchester City's leadership team next season and hopes to bring some stoicism to the squad. "I'm quite calm in my head," Haaland said. "That's a good thing to bring to others as well, even when the situation can be a bit wild.' Last season, and City's disappointing failure to defend their Premier League title is behind him. "I almost forgot it until you started speaking about it," Haaland added. "I cannot keep on thinking about last season. That last season was not good enough, this or that. That's the best part of football. There's always something new that's coming. You have to think about what is coming next and live in the present moment." Jet2 blasted after Grans put on flight to wrong Spanish island
The pair were stunned when the pilot announced they'd be touching down in a different place. Two elderly woman have slammed holiday giant Jet2 after a shocking airport mix-up saw them put on the wrong plane — and only realised it mid-air when the captain said they were landing in the wrong place. Linda Trestrail, 69, and Wendy Russell, 71, thought they were flying off to sunny Majorca for a relaxing break. But after five separate ticket checks — including one onboard — the pair were stunned when the pilot announced they'd be touching down in Menorca instead. The pensioners, who both suffer from mobility issues and had booked special assistance, branded it a 'catalogue of disasters' and accused Jet2 of treating them worse than luggage, reports the Mirror. Linda fumed: 'You get compensation if your bags go missing — but they lost us, not the bl**dy baggage!' The pals, who both use wheelchairs, were given help through security at Bristol Airport, shown to the gate, and even directed into their seats by cabin crew before the horror realisation mid-flight. 'I burst into tears,' said Linda. 'I turned to Wendy and said, 'He said Menorca — not Majorca!' The flight attendant laughed when I told her. That's when the chaos started.' The blunder was so severe even the captain admitted he'd never seen anything like it in his career. But despite offering to personally fly them to Majorca, Linda claims Jet2 bosses overruled it 'due to security.' Wendy, who has undergone three brain surgeries and suffers from arthritis, said: 'It's terrifying how easy it was. They bang on about airport security, but two strangers got on a plane with five checks and no one noticed!' To make things worse, their luggage made it to Majorca without them — a major security breach that could've had dangerous consequences. 'Our bags flew without us. That's terrifying,' Wendy added. The women ended up stranded in Menorca for hours before being put on another flight. By the time they arrived at their resort, they'd been travelling for 17 hours instead of five. Linda said: 'Our legs were like balloons. We were supposed to be relaxing — we just collapsed in the room.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! A Jet2 rep at the hotel refused to meet them, and when they finally got a call from the airline two days later, they were offered a 'free excursion' — despite both being physically unable to walk. 'I thought it was a joke,' Linda said. 'We couldn't even get out of bed, let alone go sightseeing!' Despite being the talk of their resort — with fellow holidaymakers recognising them as 'the ladies who got on the wrong flight' — the pair said their break was 'ruined.' They've still not received compensation from Jet2, despite their travel agent and family contacting the company multiple times. So far, only Bristol Airport has issued an apology. Wendy added: 'This could've been so much worse. It was traumatic for us — but what if it had been someone with a serious health issue, or worse? This must never happen again.' Jet2 has since apologised, blaming the blunder on a 'human error' by a third-party special assistance provider. The airline claims to have 'retrained staff' and offered the women a gesture of goodwill. They said: "We would like to offer our sincere apologies to Mses. Trestrail and Russell for this incident. This is an extremely isolated incident and although there was no security risk, we have of course investigated it as a matter of urgency, including with the third-party special assistance provider. We can confirm that the customers went through security correctly, and their luggage was also screened correctly. "However, after these checks the customers were taken to the incorrect aircraft, which is the responsibility of the third-party special assistance provider at the airport. Upon boarding the aircraft, the incorrect destination on their boarding passes was unfortunately not identified and we apologise for this oversight which was down to human error. "We have carried out additional training with the team to ensure this does not happen again. As soon as we learned of the issue, our team booked Mses. Trestrail and Russell onto the soonest available flight from Menorca to Majorca and they also provided all the assistance they could both throughout their journey and the rest of their holiday. "We have been in touch with Mses. Trestrail and Russell to offer an appropriate gesture of goodwill and once again offer our sincere apologies. We understand they are due to travel with us once again this year, and we look forward to welcoming them onboard and delivering the usual VIP customer experience that we are recognised for." But for Linda and Wendy, the trust is broken. Linda said: 'We were terrified flying home. You're supposed to feel safe in their hands. They lost people, not just bags. That says it all.'
