‘Sex and the City' Universe Will End With ‘And Just Like That' Season 3

King says he made the decision with Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys, and Sarah Aubrey to expand the season from 10 to 12 episodes (with a two-part finale) to give a proper send-off to the series that revived the fan-favorite characters on HBO Max.
'SJP and I held off announcing the news until now because we didn't want the word 'final' to overshadow the fun of watching the season,' King wrote. 'It's with great gratitude that we thank all the viewers who have let these characters into their homes and their hearts over these many years.'
And Just Like That brought back Sex and the City, which originally aired from 1998 to 2004. The original show ran for six seasons and spawned two films. The new show relaunched the series in 2021, airing with SJP's Carrie Bradshaw reconnecting with Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). Kim Cattrall didn't return as Samantha, but made a cameo in the second season.
And Just Like That Season Three premiered on May 29, 2025 on HBO Max with episode lengths running between 42-44 minutes. Along with Parker, Davis, and Nixon, And Just Like That also stars Sarita Choudhury (Seema), Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa), John Corbett (Aidan), Mario Cantone (Anthony), and new faces this season, including Rosie O'Donnell and Logan Marshall-Green.

28 Of The Most Disturbing Books People Have Ever Read
On the always buzzing subreddit r/AskReddit, users were discussing the topic: What is the most disturbing book that you've read? Here are just some of the top answers: 1."Night by Elie Wiesel. I had to put it down in several places, and some of the imagery is burned into my brain. What makes it so much worse is that most of those scenes were recounting of horrors he witnessed during WWII. How anyone lived through that and was able to function at all defies logic." —u/Naive_Kaleidoscope16 2."Organic Chemistry, 5th edition. I legit wake up in the night sobbing thinking about it." —u/siegfrieder 3."I'll be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. The content of the book itself is creepy, and the fact that she didn't live to see the Golden State Killer captured sits with me years after reading it." —u/SnooRadishes3875 4."The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini." —u/Educational_Cod_2572 5."We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver" —u/FewMathematician8245 6."A Child Called 'It' by Dave Pelzer. It's about the Rwandan genocide." —u/quaswhat 9."Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews." —u/Realistic-Drummer565 10."The Unexpected Salami. It's about rockstars, drug addiction, and sex. It involves overdosing, someone being murdered, and very explicit directions on how to come off of heroin." —u/CaptainFartHole 11."When I read The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood in college in the mid-90s, I was troubled for days. It caused me to seriously rethink gender roles, bodily autonomy, and religion. Which, I suppose, is exactly what it was trying to do." —u/Old-Pin-7839 12."The Long Walk. It's by Stephen King, but it's a Bachman book. Can't believe they're making it a movie now, it's gonna be nuts." —u/FroggiJoy87 13."The Jungle by Upton to stop and just cry a few times. Cynthia Nixon's Go-To Lunch: Worth The Hype?
And just like that… And Just Like That is ending. After three seasons, showrunner Michael Patrick King and star Sarah Jessica Parker have announced that the Sex and the City revival is coming to a close. Obviously, Sex and the City has had a major cultural impact. And its impact on food is no exception. The original series helped popularize multiple New York establishments, like Magnolia Bakery. And while not directly SATC-related, Cynthia Nixon had her own moment of food virality when she revealed her go-to bagel order while running for New York Governor. Recently, during press for this last season of And Just Like That, Cynthia gave more insight into her favorite foods, revealing the healthy lunch she's been eating for years. In a cast interview with SiriusXM, Andy Cohen brought up a story Sarah Jessica Parker had previously told about Cynthia Nixon bringing Tupperware with her everywhere. Cynthia confirmed, saying she'd brought it to the dressing room that day, with Kristin Davis piping in that Cynthia had even brought Tupperware to Morocco — presumably referencing when the cast filmed Sex and the City 2 in Marrakech. So, what's in this famous Tupperware? 'I have the same lunch every day unless I go out,' Cynthia explained. 'I have kale, quinoa, curried chickpeas, sweet potato, avocado, red pickled onions, and hot sauce.' The lunch honestly sounded delicious, so I had to give it a try. Psst: To prep hundreds of easy lunches right on your phone, download the free Tasty app right now. The first thing I did was gather my main ingredients. The recipe involves a lot of prep, so I had my work set out for me. I know my avocado looks green. Everything is going to be okay, guys, I promise. To save myself some time, I opted to buy the chickpeas from the store. I couldn't find pre-made curried chickpeas, but I did find Moroccan chickpea stew from the brand Mina at Whole Foods, which had similar ingredients to the recipes I looked at for homemade curried that, I was on my own. The specifics of Cynthia's lunch were vague. How much of each ingredient does she use? How are they prepared? Needless to say, I had to freestyle a bit. I started by prepping the sweet potatoes and red onions; I chopped the sweet potatoes into small chunks and thinly sliced the red onion. I roasted the sweet potatoes at 400°F for about 30 minutes with olive oil and salt. Onto the pickled red onions: I combined boiling water and granulated sugar in a bowl, mixing until the sugar dissolved completely. Next, I added red wine vinegar, the sliced red onion, and salt. I then put this mixture in the fridge to pickle for a few hours. Next up, it was time to deal with the kale. Recipes with kale in them can sometimes turn people off. The key is to massage the raw kale with olive oil until it's reduced in size by about half. This makes the kale softer and easier to eat. During this time, I also made plain quinoa over the stove, following package instructions. Finally, it was time to put everything together! I had to trust my gut with assembly. Was this supposed to be more like a salad (more kale than quinoa) or a bowl (more quinoa than kale)? I decided to make it more like a salad, mixing the kale with about half the amount of quinoa. From there, I loaded everything else on: the sweet potatoes, sliced avocado, chickpeas, and pickled red onions. I finished with a few dashes of hot sauce. So, did Cynthia recover from Bagel Gate? To quote Berger (Post-It Guy) from SATC… 'I'm sorry. I can't. Don't hate me.' This lunch had the potential to be great. I love pickled red onions, and the acidity mingled well with the hearty, roasted sweet potato and creamy avocado. However, the curried chickpeas totally threw off the flavor profile of everything else in the bowl. The cumin flavor was overwhelming amidst the vibe of the rest of the ingredients. It especially clashed with the hot sauce. Though both were spicy, they tasted completely different. I'm guessing Cynthia must be a spice queen, which is why both are included. That being said, it was a nice, hearty lunch. While I didn't give myself a big portion, I could see this lunch getting Cynthia through long filming days if she was loading a substantial amount of it into her Tupperware. If I were to make this lunch in the future, I'd sub the spiced chickpeas with roasted or even plain, canned chickpeas. I'd also add feta to go with the sweet potatoes. Finally, I'd omit the hot sauce and top the salad with green goddess dressing. On to the next celebrity lunch! Hungry for more? This Week's ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Hid a ‘Doctor Who' Easter Egg in Plain Sight
The latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds planted the seeds for what'll eventually become classic Star Trek by giving James Kirk (Paul Wesley) time in the captain's chair. Along the way, it also decided to have a little crossover with Doctor this week's 'The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail,' Kirk and the Farragut crew have to rescue the Enterprise from the tendrils of a power-draining scavenger ship. Throughout the episode, the camera cuts to the wrapped up Enterprise, and each establishing shot features a tiiiiiiny glimpse at the Doctor's TARDIS on tendrils covering the ship's left engine. During the premiere of Ncuti Gatwa's inaugural Who season, the Fifteenth Doctor's companion Ruby compares his transporter technology to Star Trek, which he agrees with and suggests they go check out that universe sometime. Well, it happened here in 'Sehlat,' and after the Enterprise breaks free, the TARDIS has disappeared. For the Who heads who watched Gatwa's two seasons, this little Strange New Worlds cameo can be read one of two ways: either the TARDIS also got trapped in the tendrils and left once it could avoid the explosion that wiped out the scavenger ship, or it survived said explosion thanks to its shields and then left without anyone aware. It sounds like this Doctor would've let the scavenger crew perish, since they've been stealing power from ships and killing the crews within for centuries. During 2024's San Diego Comic-Con, then-Who showrunner Russell T. Davies and Star Trek architect Alex Kurtzman did a panel together, where Davies mentioned he'd love to do a Trek episode featuring the Borg. This probably won't lead to such a crossover, but when it does happen, this can be a fun mention made by the Doctor for audience members in the know. Want more io9 news?
