New addition to Stroud shopping centre 'proving popular'
A big TV screen has been installed by the food hall area which has been showing live coverage of Wimbledon in recent days while events at the centre are also being advertised.
This is part of a number of changes currently being made at the centre.
Amanda Holmes, Communications Consultant for Dransfield Properties, said: "We installed the new big screen a couple of weeks ago and it's proving to be a really popular addition with our visitors at the Five Valleys food hall.
"It's really great for promoting our upcoming events at Five Valleys and keeping the community updated with what's happening - and of course also for screening big events.
"The new screen is part of a number of improvements and changes that we've been making at Five Valleys over recent weeks, including the extension of the Artisan Baker to create a new seating area and the relocation of Los Cubanos to a newly created area adjoining the seating area where the big screen is.
"Los Cubanos relaunches next week with a Cuban party theme on Friday, July 18."

What are you hoping to see from West Ham in the 2025/26 Premier League season? I'm hoping to see just a little more cohesion and consistency in our squad. Last season saw us with a talented squad that didn't know how to be a team, so I hope Potter has drilled that into the boys. What is your hottest take or boldest prediction for West Ham's 2025/26 Premier League season? I hate to say that it's now a 'hot take' but I believe we've recruited in such a way to secure a top half finish? I'd dream of a Europa spot but there's been a lot of decent transfers from our main competition. If you were going to bet your life savings on something definitely happening to West Ham in the 2025/26 season, what would it be? There's a few things that I know will happen. Bowen will get into double figures, the fans will turn on Potter a couple of times, and we will have a decent FA Cup run but get knocked out by a silly club. Other than your own, which team or player are you most excited to watch in the 2025/26 season? I'm actually very interested to see if Man United can do anything with a new look team. I really don't like them as a team but some of the players they've employed like Mbeumo and Cunha deserve a shot at the big time. It's an exciting time for the Premier League. What do you predict will be the first managerial change of the 2025/26 season? Regardless of the team, I'm not sure Ruben Amorim is the right manager for United. I can see him seeing the door mid-season. Who will turn out to be West Ham's signing of the summer? El Hadji Malick Diouf. He's had a steady start in pre-season but I really think he's going to come into his own. We haven't had an athlete like him in wing back for a while, so I'm excited to see how he shapes our attack. Who will finish as the Premier League's Player of the Season? Very tough. I think it'll be Wirtz for Liverpool, but he faces competition from the likes of Mo Salah and other 10s like Cole Palmer. Who will win the Golden Boot? Mo Salah is the obvious shout but I'm going to go with João Pedro as an outside vote. Which club will win the Premier League title? Liverpool. MP praises 'colourful and magnificent' sculpture at Bradford community centre
A NEW piece of art created for a long-standing community centre has been described as 'colourful' and 'magnificent' by a local MP. Award-winning local sculptor Sam Shendi has designed and created Balancing Acts – a bright, interactive sculpture at MAPA youth and community centre. The sculpture honours the centre's role as a community hub, and reflects balance, identity, and shared belonging and is part of Bradford's City of Culture celebrations. Children playing with the sculpture at MAPA (Image: Andrew Benge) Acknowledging the centre's past as a playground, the sculpture has moveable blocks – meaning it doubles up as a piece of play equipment. The sculpture was officially unveiled on Tuesday at an event attended by Bradford East MP Imran Hussain and Mr Shendi. The centre, off Manchester Road, was formerly known as Margaret McMillan Adventure Playground, and has helped shape generations of children in the city. Its unveiling is a key moment in Bradford 2025's PLAY programme, which aims to boost the district's existing play provision. At the event, Mr Hussain said: 'One of the greatest things about Bradford is that all communities are welcome and we are all united. The sculpture at MAPA (Image: T&A) 'This is a colourful, magnificent structure created by a local artist. It symbolises play, and is something young people can play with.' Referring to Bradford's year as City of Culture, Mr Hussain said: 'It is a really magnificent year – people are saying it's our time. We are setting our own narrative – we are a proud home to communities from around the world. "It is a magnificent place to call home.' Sam Shendi with his sculpture (Image: T&A) Rhiannon Hannon, director of creative engagement at Bradford 2025, said: "Shendi's sculpture is playful, welcoming, and deeply rooted in the community spirit that MAPA was built on. "It tells a story of generations growing up in this space, learning balance in life, through joy and coming together. The sculpture at MAPA (Image: T&A) 'We wanted it to reflect that this site started as a playground.' She said there were several events being held throughout the year to celebrate play and the district's young population. The sculpture at MAPA (Image: T&A) Referring to the bright colours on the sculpture, Egyptian-born Shendi, who lives in Cowling, said the colours reflected life, adding: 'We often use colours to describe emotions. 'I'm so happy to have been chosen by Bradford 2025 to create this sculpture. Balancing Acts is a totem for the future generations to understand the value of their community.' He described it as a 'small gift' for MAPA.
