Dakota Johnson stays silent on her breakup with Chris Martin
Washington DC [US], June 6 (ANI): Dakota Johnson preferred to stay silent on her recent breakup with Chris Martin during an appearance on the chat show 'Late Night With Seth Meyers'.
Johnson spoke about her new movie 'Materialists', helmed by director and writer Celine Song, whom the actress said she was "obsessed" with after seeing her Oscar-nominated "Past Lives." Johnson and Meyers also playfully described the new film as a "rom-dramedy," reported Page Six.
The silence came only one day after it was revealed that she and the Coldplay frontman had ended their relationship after nearly eight years.
Johnson was photographed exiting The Greenwich Hotel in New York City before her late-night engagement.
The "50 Shades of Grey" actress, 35, and singer, 48, started dating in 2017 and had an on-again, off-again romance for nearly eight years before calling it quits.
The silence comes just one day after news broke that she and the Coldplay frontman split for good following nearly eight years together.
The longtime couple shares a home in Malibu, where they were last photographed together in May, reported Page Six.
In January, they were photographed happily holding hands during an outing in India, months after rumours suggested they had broken off their engagement and split.
However, a representative said, "The reports are not true," adding, "They are happily together," according to Page Six.
Sources previously confirmed in March 2024 that the couple had been engaged for years; however, they preferred to keep their relationship private.
"They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official," a source informed.
Johnson, whose parents are 80s icons Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, has rarely opened up about the relationship. But in March 2024, the actress shared how she felt about watching the singer perform.
"I love watching him," she told Bustle at the time. "I could watch him every day. I don't know how to explain it. I feel like, I don't know... I'm watching my most favourite being do his most favourite thing."
As for Martin's kids, Apple and Moses, whom he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, she also shares a bond with them. "I love those kids like my life depends on it," Dakota told the outlet. "With all my heart," reported Page Six. (ANI)

Hailing from a prestigious film family, Rana Daggubati is the son of film producer D Suresh Babu and Lakshmi. He shares a close bond with his uncle, superstar Venkatesh Daggubati and is also the cousin of star Naga Chaitanya. In an interview with ANI on Monday, Daggubati emphasised that having a film family background opens up more opportunities and provides a deeper understanding of the industry. He said, 'Any industry that your family is from, you understand it more than somebody who's not. How does it help an actor? Ultimately, you have to stand in front of the camera and act. There'll be a lot more opportunities for you. There will be an ecosystem that you understand. It's like if your family is from chemical industries or sugar factories, you'll understand how a sugar factory works and all the byproducts of sugar like that.' Daggubati mentioned that the 'pressure' to continue his family's legacy motivated him to do something unique, including starting his own production house, Spirit Media, in 2005. 'Pressure, in that sense, it was self-inflicted in some manner. You want to do something that is unique, new, and stands out and should stand for a long period of time. Taking to her Instagram handle, Shabana Azmi, wife of Javed Akhtar, shared the snaps from the award ceremony, featuring the renowned lyricist accepting the award from the dignitaries from the Russian House. While sharing the photos, the actress wrote, 'Another big honour for Javed Akhtar as he receives the Dostoevsky Star Award! This year, the Russian House is deeply honoured to present the Dostoevsky Star Award to the renowned poet, lyricist, and public intellectual Mr. Javed Akhtar, to recognise his remarkable influence on cultural dialogue and literary heritage.' Javed Akhtar, considered the legendary screenwriter for the Indian cinema industry, has won numerous awards during his decades-long career. He said, 'The only reason that can make you excellent is your self-esteem. Maybe the world doesn't have to be, and maybe your friends are saying that you are very rude, but I know that I can be better, and it has to be better because I am doing it. If you have high self-esteem then you can reach excellence. Self-esteem demands only yourself and nothing else.'
