AI-generated/Representational. Ryo Tatsuki– a Japanese manga artist, author, and prophet who has been dubbed the 'new Baba Vanga' for her prophesies that have reportedly come true in recent years– has made another chilling prediction for Japan. Tatsuki has prophesized that a mega tsunami will ravage Japan in July 2025, and the prediction has triggered panic in the country, with majority of travelers cancelling their bookings, prompting the Japanese government to issue a formal appeal to its citizens, urging them not to pay heed to the fortune teller's dire predictions. New Baba Vanga Ryo Tatsuki predicts mega tsunami in Japan Interestingly, scientists have also predicted that a devastating disaster may strike Japan on July 5 next month, lending credibility to Ryo Tatsuki's forecast, which she had reportedly made years ago, according to a report by the Guardian. Many believe the impending disaster will be a mega tsunami triggered by a massive earthquake caused by under sea tectonic activities between the Sea of Japan and the Philippines. While Tatsuki's predictions lack scientific backing, many believe that the Japanese prophet and author has the gift of foresight, as many of her previous prophesies have allegedly come true. Tatsuki is credited with accurately predicting the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Travel bookings cancelled after new Baba Vanga's mega tsunami prediction Meanwhile, scores have canceled their travel bookings to Japan in wake of Ryo Tatsuki's dire forecast, with flight bookings to the country falling by a whopping 83 percent, according to reports. Average bookings from Hong Kong are down 50% year-on-year, with bookings falling by 83% between late June and early July, as per a report by Bloomberg Intelligence. A Hong Kong travel agency reported a 50% drop in bookings for Japan during the April-May holiday, while many travelers have cancelled bookings or postponed trips in wake of the dire forecast, the report. Japan issues appeal to citizens, travelers Rattled by the panic created by Tatsuki's prophesies, the Japanese government has urged its citizens not to pay heed to such predictions, that are 'completely baseless and have no scientific basis.' In a statement to local media, Yoshihiro Murai, the governor of Miyagi Prefecture said it is a major problem if tourism is affected by rumors on social media. 'There is nothing to worry about, because Japanese are not fleeing abroad. I hope people will ignore the rumors and travel,' Murai said. However, beyond Tatsuki's predictions, Japanese officials are concerned about earthquake risks, with a government task issuing a warning in April that a major earthquake off Japan's Pacific coast could kill up to 298,000 people. Japan's location on the Pacific Ocean's Ring of Fire makes it vulnerable to earthquakes, but experts insist that based on current scientific understanding it is impossible to accurately predict the timing and location of an earthquake..
